LSKD Running: The story of Aliyah Johnson

Hey and welcome to Episode one of the LSKD Running series, where I take you through some of the amazing stories inside of the newly formed LSKD running squad spread across NZ and Aus.

Kicking things off is the incredibly talented Aliyah Johnson, a multiple time Australian Representative who has found herself back in the sport after rupturing her ACL in 2022 and nearly leaving it all together.

In a completely candid and vulnerable chat, the now NZ based Aliyah opened up on her high performance JNR career, the highs and lows and the pitfalls that can be being an elite athlete.

Now, back in the sport with a rejuvenated sense of love for being there and being amongst competing again, LSKD has brought Aliyah's infectious energy inside the team and will support her along her journey throughout athletics.

EP #24 Scott McKenzie & Downunder Recruiting

As always, reviews and rates please and thanks :)
    ------
G'day everybody, it's Mitch here. Holy shit, 2024, I can't believe we've made it. First and foremost, I was going to say a massive thank you to every single person that was on board last year.

What ended up happening with Straight Out It was something that I could have never imagined that it would get to when I first rocked up to the Oslo Diamond League with not even a business created and sat in the press box and thought, should I better start something here?

Some people will know my NCAA experience and story. Naturally, I went to Wake Forest for three years, had a great time. Certainly wasn't the most switched on athlete but nonetheless got so much out of it from the life perspective.

A guy called Scott McKenzie who you're about to listen to is currently at Lipscomb. He's got his undergraduate, his masters, he's working on his PhD at the moment. He's lowered his times from late 14s, early 15s down to that sub -14 minute marker.

Just an incredible guy and starting a business together that is essentially trying to partner young athletes with the right college coaches, the right college environment and also show that even though you haven't won a national medal even though you haven't maybe hit the criteria that you think you need to go to the NCAA, it's still very possible to do so.

Follow along @downunderrecruiting for all the info to come!

New kids 'ON' the block: Zach Facioni & Imogen Barrett

Well, it feels good to be back.

To kick things off since coming back from Europe I am joined by two of the brand new singings for OAC Oceania outfit with

Flordia's 8x All American and 2:00 800m runner Imogen Barrett
Wake Forests 4x All American and 3:39 / 13:27 runner Zach Facioni.

Although both coming through the NCAA route of senior running the duo share uniquely different stories of how they got into the sport, and if they ever believed they would be in an environment to turn professional.

The pair talk what it means to them to be supported by this team and this environment, and what their goals are moving forward as a part of the group.

The pair are joined by Olympian Ed Trippas and former UNC Middle distance star Jesse Hunt as key new signings.

Expect more frequent podcasting and content soon...
