The Active Life Podcast provides you with all of the tools needed to reveal the world-class inside of you. We stand for a life of freedom, without compromise, and believe that balance in life is doing world-class work at whatever we do. Sit in on conversations with world changers, learn from our team of professionals, and enjoy monologues meant to make you take a deep look at a single idea.
Life is dangerous if we decide to live it to it's fullest, and I'm not here to sit on the sideline.
On today's episode of The Active Life Podcast my friend, Dr. Amy West is back, and we are talking about the injury risks associated with CrossFit, how overblown they are, and how under reported. We also talk about a bunch of other things related to musculoskeletal health, and what society needs to change if we're going to become vibrant again.
I believe that if CrossFit went back to its roots and wore the badge of "forging elite fitness", acknowledging stuff happens when you're trying to be elite, they would enjoy massive success, again.
I believe CrossFit is the most disruptive, and efficacious methodological breakthrough in fitness since Jack Lalanne hit the screens in the 1950s, and like anything else, it's flawed.
It's more dangerous to be sedentary than to do CrossFit, and to suggest doing CrossFit is dangerous is also incorrect.
Enjoy the show.

As a PhD in exercise science, an ultra marathoner, a hybrid athlete, a successful entrepreneur, and a regular presence on stages and podcasts, it's hard to argue anything except that Alyssa Olenick is a winner.
Not everyone wanted it to be that way.
On today's episode you're going to learn about the feathers that were ruffled necessarily, the obstacles that were overcome, the advantages that were leaned into, and the lessons still being learned by Alyssa as she continues making strides to excel in this new, entrepreneurial chapter of her life.

If you've heard Rachel Scheer on another podcast I promise you this, you have not heard her talk about what we discuss on today's episode, and you're going to want to tune in.
Rachel found herself at the crossroads of having her intestines removed and taking control of her life, finding her own way to a cure for herself. She chose the latter and now she's bringing her message to the masses.
We talk as much about the mind body connection, and who Rachel is at her core as we do about the science of health.
Rachel is a functional nutritionist, her new book "root cause" is on Amazon now, for coaches who want to help people like Rachel does.

I recently attended an event called "Strength in Diversity" that my friend, Ebenezer Samuel hosted on behalf of Men's Health Magazine.
I was skeptical at first because I rarely see diversity efforts that I believe make companies or services better. Typically what I see is virtue signaling, and getting minority faces into content to try an attract business from more people who look like them.
When it comes to social causes I believe the most virtuous social cause is doing world class work. It doesn't matter what the people who do that work look like, as long as the effort is always on doing the best work.
What was refreshing about the Strength in Diversity initiative is that there are no handouts. It's a mentorship approach to lifting people who come from marginalized communities. And that I can get behind.
Today I ask Ebenezer the hard questions in regards to the relevance, merit, and future of diversity efforts in the work place.

I've been dealing with some conflict lately. In exploring what my unique ability is I've faced down some really challenging questions of myself.
On today's episode I discuss those questions, the answers I've come up with, and what I plan to do about it.

Living a healthy lifestyle is much simpler than it's made out to be. One of the biggest mistake people make is the all or nothing approach.
Sometimes you're better off doing less, and allowing it to be more.
When is that the time?
Kimberly Pastuch (my wife) talks about her fourth pregnancy and delivery and what was different this time.
She's two weeks postpartum at the release of this episode and she's within a few pounds of her pre-pregnancy weight, her energy is high, and her body is feeling almost 100%.
How is this all possible?
You're going to have to listen to find out.
The expression "you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with" is commonly used. But we can't just decide we want to spend time with five random people who do not also choose us.
On today's podcast we discuss how to level up the quality of our friends.
Please remember to leave us a five star rating if you're enjoying the show and share it with a friend.
In this special episode of the Active Life Podcast, Cody Ringle, head of operations over at Active Life in Long Beach takes control of the podcast and asks Dr. Sean a serious of questions following last week's episode.
Cody let's me jump into his head today and really get to know him better, what makes him tick, and what he's learned from leading the team in Long Beach for almost two years.
Everything I talk about in this podcast is true about how I manipulate my time. I used the word manipulate on purpose.
If you listen to this episode and you apply even one thing I talk about in it you will experience less stress in your life.
