At Hunker, we believe “home” means more than just where you live; it’s an expression of your identity, the place where you are most yourself. Being Home With Hunker is a podcast where, each week, Hunker editorial director Laurie Gunning Grossman chats with designers, artists, and creatives in the spaces that express and shape their identities: their homes. We talk about topics such as: How do their homes tell their story? What holds value? What are their non-negotiables? What does “being home” mean to them?If you love design and decor, if you’re curious about how people live, or if you’ve been transitioning or transforming your own home, you’ll love these honest conversations. For more info, visit Hunker.com/podcast.
Today on the show we have Alejandra Brady, a biophilic designer, feng shui expert, interior designer, and author.
Alejandra explains how these three modalities — biophilic design, feng shui, and interior design — support each other in the world of home design and decor.
In this conversation, you’ll learn about biophilic design, which Alejandra describes as the modern feng shui. It’s about bringing nature back into the manmade environment.
She shares actionable tips on how to implement biophilic design within your home — no matter your budget or where you live.
Alejandra also shares tips on how to amplify the wealth and career areas of our homes through the trifecta of, you guessed it, feng shui, biophilic design, and interior design. She has great ideas on how the items we use in these spaces can do double or triple duty, covering all the bases of these three modalities. Also, you’ll want to hear what she doesn’t recommend we keep in our career center; she shares ideas for beneficial crystals to place under our pillows or beds; plus, she tells us her top three favorite feng shui cures she uses wherever she goes.

Today on the show we have Meg Golightly, home organizing expert, and founder of Simplified.
For Meg, home organizing is not just about putting things in their place.
She says, "My interest in home organization has evolved from a lifelong fascination with how our brains work reinforced by my degree in psychology and my ongoing interest in neuroscience.”
She believes we all have reasons as to why we hang on to things. And everybody struggles with clutter. Everybody. However, there’s a cost to clutter.
And that we can’t get to where we want to be until we let go.
And so, Meg does more than just show us how to organize — she goes deeper. There’s one important step she believes we all must do before we organize, and she shares it in this conversation.
She also offers tips on where and how to start in the organizing process, as well as the three questions she has her clients answer before starting the organizing process.
We also talk about how find her favorite organizing tools; why she creates “towns” for her stuff at home; and finally, she shares expert ways to organize a pantry. We all know how much we love seeing a well-organized pantry!
If you’re ready to make space in your home — both literally and figuratively — this conversation for you.

Today on the show, host Laurie Gunning Grossman talks with feng shui expert Kristina Hollinger.
Kristina is a feng shui consultant and author — and she’s the host of the podcast Feng Shui With Kristina Hollinger where she’s focused on helping people expand their manifesting toolbox. Kristina says that she is dedicated to helping you design the life you deserve.
We wanted to have Kristina back on the show to talk specifically about feng shui for families — and how we can use feng shui to help foster harmony within the home.
Kristina talks about how there are areas of our home that signify areas of our lives. Almost like a mirror to each other. We talk specifically about the Family area — how to identify it (where it’s located in your home) and how to bolster this area through specific feng shui cures. In other words, if you want to strengthen and support family relationships, there are some simple yet effective things you can do in the form of decor and design. And Kristina shares these ideas with us.
We were also curious about how to use feng shui in other areas of our homes that we don’t have total control over, such as our kids’ rooms. Kristina has some great advice around what to do when maybe we can’t completely control the decor or the clutter in these important areas.
You will also love hearing how — and why — Kristina and her family write their intentions on their walls; ways that we can clear and uplift the energy in our spaces; and what to focus on if you were to do just one thing to create greater harmony in your home.

Today on the show I am talking with Nate Berkus, celebrity interior designer, best-selling author, and host of HGTV’s “The Nate & Jeremiah Home Project.” We’ve seen evidence of Nate’s talent ever since he came into the public eye in 2002 after his first appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show.
Nate knows design, and he knows how to elevate a home. As he says, he cares deeply about living beautifully.
And, lucky for us all, he’s just released a brand-new collection called Nate Home.
As he says in our conversation, he’s “standing on the edge of a cliff,” with his return to bedding, bath, and (a new category), home organization
Why a cliff? Well, because as Nate shares, this is the first time he isn’t partnering with a single retailer. Through his partnership with mDesign, his goal was to make this new collection available to everybody – and he’s made true to that goal: Nate Home is available at Amazon, Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, and more.
We also talk about the two foundations of design that matter to him; he shares the tangible things that can help express the stories of the people living in a home; he talks about how he’s become a better designer since becoming a father; and he shares why having an organized home is so important – and he gives us two expert organizing tips to try.
Finally, we talk about his marriage to designer Jeremiah Brent and their two children – how sharing his life not only as a designer, but as a family man, is so important. To him and his husband, visibility matters.
