10/10 (The Ten Tensions of Parenting)

We turned ten years old as parents this year and we decided to recount things we’ve learned from being parents so far. They turned out to be ten pairs:

    - Father and Mother

    - Discipline and Grace

    - Time and Seasons

    - Dependence and Independence

    - Physical and Spiritual

    - Joy and Sacrifice

    - Hard or Easy

    - Future and Past

    - Nuclear and Extended

    - Qualified and Unqualified

    - Nature and Nurture

This might be good for you all who are new parents, and all of you who are children. Might just make you understand the immense responsibility that comes with being a mom or dad amd how it is so easy to get it all wrong. Which in the end is the driving force behind why we were left without a choice but to ask help from God.

    I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;

    your works are wonderful,

    I know that full well.

What we learned about buying properties

Owning our own home did not come in an instant but it was a long process of asking people we trust to know about such things and doing our research. In this podcast we share questions we asked, and pieces of advice we were given by some of the best financial and real estate people. We were asked questions that were so helpful like the ones we mentioned above. We also recall times when we’ve visited sites that gave us a better handle of who we are and what we want for our family, and more realizations that came along the way as we were growing.

This is a sponsored post by Camella homes which we also visited in the pricess of owning our first ever home as a fam. Hope this episode helps and gives us the hope that it is never too early or too late to think about it.

Do opposites attract or break you away from each other? (How similar should you be for the relationship to work?)

We were having our anniversary dinner when our friends asked about how different Joe and I were. Well, super. Haha! And that's how this episode started. We tried talking about how the there are places where commonalities fade over time and where they were crucially needed from the beginning and through and through the relationship.

I hope this episode helps if you are navigating through your differences with your loved one. And if by any chance you wanna join our chat group for follow ups, go ahead and add us up in Telegram.

Raving about GomBurZa, His and Hers gift, Valentine’s plans

We’re back! And we begin the year moved like crazy because of this MMFF 2024 film!!! We’ve seen it and we’ve been moved by it so much so we ended up talking about it for more than an hour. Oh but also, we geek out on some new things like our Garmin watches and well, some video games. (Video games and interdental toothbrushes always find a way!)

Happy new year everyone and do let us know if you have additional thoughts to this by joining our telegram group chat! Here is the link: https://t.me/+lLQiqaM4WAA5NTg9

We were in the room where It happened! (Our Hamilton rave!)

When we saw this on Disney+ we just knew it was something we needed to see LIVE, on stage. It finally happened. Glad to have GMG productions bring it to us here in Manila. And so we talk about the songs and themes we loved about the musicale, as well as what warrants a live a show when you could just see it on screen anyway. By the end of the podcast, we contemplate on the whole "Who lives, who dies, who tells my story?" Do we actually want our stories to be told? Listen to our answers and maybe you can tell us yours, too!

What does one do about CHEATING? (episode with video!)

Might be the hardest of all topics to talk about because not only did we get questions about cheating spouses or girlfriends, boyfriends, but also children. We got kids asking what must they feel and do when one of their parents cheat? Infidelity is not a light thing to talk about and we explore why in this episode, as well as our own take on what we should do when we experience this either directly or indirectly. Hope this sheds a light. We deep dive this topic to help. And if you wanna process some more with us we are over here: https://t.me/+lLQiqaM4WAA5NTg9

I’m burned out. What do I do?

The second most pressing topic requested from us these days is about burnout. We have both experienced this already as workers and career people ourselves and so we have some thoughts about the following:

    • is it avoidable?
    • can we recover from it?
    • or is quitting the only way?
    • what if I am burned out from tasks that cannot be delegated?
    • whose fault is this anyway? Mine or my employer’s?

And more. Plus some forgiveness follow ups that trail behind the previous episode. May you be blessed and helped with this one.

Is there anything too painful to forgive? (And more thoughts on forgiveness)

Does Forgiveness Require Reconciliation? Does Forgiveness Include Forgetting? Do I need to forgive to honor mg parents? How do we ask for someone’s forgiveness? Why is forgiveness essential in life? So many questions too little time.

For this episode, we talk about what forgiveness means and what it doesn’t. Beginning with what we thought it to be in our younger years and how it’s developed and practiced in our adult lives. We also included Languages of Apology and if you wanna know what you are more inclined to do, here is a link: https://www.choosingtherapy.com/languages-of-apology/

And lastly we wanna shout out a big thanks to the telegram community that we have for giving us questions to answer and as we say in the podcast, should you wanna be a part of it here is a link: https://t.me/+lLQiqaM4WAA5NTg9 🫶🏻 we hope to hear from you there! Welcome!!! 🥹

What Should We Make of Celebrity Break-ups?

Jason and Moira, Alyne and Nas, Tyler and Bethany Toney, and including ourselves, have relationships that are subjected to the public dimension. And we argue in this podcast that anything public becomes performative to the point that even the most authentic looking content we put out there is still within the bounds of “filtered” material. We explore the whys behind this and also how we should feel about these things, not only as consumers but also as content creators ourselves.

Parenting in the Last 20 Years: What has changed, what hasn’t, how to adapt

This episode explores parenting as it has evolved from physical to virtual spaces. It is also our first time to have a guest on the show and while she shares the same last name, we are in no way related!

Ronna Bonifacio is the editor in chief of Smart Parenting and together we deep dive into the changes this parenting village has gone through from print to digital, and the nature of questions and topics parents are now raising, and why so much grace is needed despite the differences in styles, context, and generations, that continually affect or inform our parenting.
