Created and hosted by Shani Silver, A Single Serving Podcast is changing the narrative around being single. Relationships are amazing, and we deserve to have them. We just don't deserve to be miserable or ashamed of our singleness in the meantime. This podcast publishes 1x per month on free-access platforms like Apple Podcasts and Spotify, and all other weekly episodes are published every Monday on Patreon.
A Single Serving Podcast is now exclusively on Patreon! As of January 2022, new episodes will publish every Monday morning only on Shani Silver's Patreon at the $5 per month tier. This tier also comes with access to the Patrons-only Facebook group for this podcast. You are welcome to listen to the back catalog on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, etc, and if you'd like new episodes I hope you'll join our Patreon community where we're reframing the negative, lack-filled narratives of singlehood and replacing them with new ways of thinking about and experiencing single life that feel MUCH BETTER. See you there!

Bonus Episode!! In this very special episode recorded while evacuated from an actual hurricane, I am thrilled to share the news that I've been keeping to myself for months now.
I WROTE A BOOK!
A Single Revolution: Don't look for a match. Light one.
Publishing THIS OCTOBER, A Single Revolution is all the support I've ever wanted to give the single community. It challenges every negative, false narrative about singlehood and replaces them with a complete reframing of how we're allowed and able to view and experience being single. It is not a book about dating. It is a book about living.
Visit shanisilver.com to join my email list and be first to know when it goes on sale!
Join my Patreon for access to a FULL READING of the book's introduction in an episode published September 6th, 2021 titled Shani's (Extremely) Special Announcement. You'll also have access to every podcast episode I've ever published, new episodes of the podcast every week, and access to the private Facebook group for Patrons only. For $5 per month, that's a steal.
Single women deserve a book that doesn’t assume we’re a negative. A Single Revolution doesn’t assume you’re unfinished, flawed, or doing something wrong in the dating space just because you’re single. If it makes any assumption, the book assumes you’re going to feel a LOT better by the time you’re done reading it.

It’s a wild one! Things that happened in this episode featuring Lane Moore: a phone call from my movers saying they were FINALLY arriving later that day after being a month late, a dog cameo, and a very chatty UPS delivery man, and after all that we get into some good shit! Comedian, Creator of Tinder Live and author of How To Be Alone Lane Moore is one of my most-requested guests EVER, and I’m so thrilled she took time out of her tour schedule to chat with us about singlehood, online dating, attachment styles, and the things we have to learn from each other.

In this very special episode of A Single Serving Podcast, I am joined by podcast listener Christine Po, a Dermatology Physician Assistant based in Atlanta, Georgia. Christine reached out as a listener and her email was one I wished I could have shared with you all—so I made it a podcast episode instead. This is for anyone who has ever felt entirely alone in never having been in a relationship before, anyone who's ever experienced racism in dating, and anyone who has ever felt like there was just simply something wrong with you for being single. The episode also begins with my own deep dive and reframe into expectations around our least favorite question: "How's dating going?"

Nancy Jo Sales is a New York Times bestselling author and award winning journalist whose work you might know from The Bling Ring, American Girls: Social Media and the Secret Lives of Teenagers, or her documentary filme Swiped. Her newest book, Nothing Personal: My Secret Life in the Dating App Inferno addresses a topic very close to this community: Big Dating and the corporate takeover of our search for love. It’s not just you—maybe the gamification of dating is actually that bad. This episode hits home, hard.
CW: This podcast episode includes a brief discussion of rape and sexual assault at the very beginning of the interview.

Alex Kruger is a writer who recently published an essay with The New York Times’ Modern Love column. What’s the “right” approach to dating? An organized and thoughtful effort, or a hands-off attitude that lets what will be, be? Or…are both Alex and Shani 100% right? This episode is FULL of explorations into modern singlehood, and all the little idiosyncrasies and anxieties that come with it. A must listen for anyone who feels like dating is happening to them, rather than the other way around, as well as anyone who feels a little out of control.

Damona Hoffman has been a dating coach for over 15 years. Is this a podcast about dating? Nope. But it is a podcast about real discussions that are relevant to singles, and it's a genuinely joy to have Damona's wisdom on the podcast this week. We get into our own experiences in dating as well as explore some of the common misconceptions that surround the singlehood space. We'll also get into the disruptions to singlehood and dating that have resulted from the rapid, continuous evolution of technology.
This episode also begins with your host Shani Silver answering a Patron question that's vital to understand as we move toward more positive singlehood mindsets, and Shani welcomes back her first guest ever, Jessie Jolles, for a brief chat on her newly launched TV pilot, Forgotten Animals.
It's a long one, but a GREAT one. Thank you for listening.

So much of society’s opinion of singlehood (and our own thoughts on singlehood) comes from the messages we receive about it. Dr. Jessica Moorman is an Assistant Professor of Communication at Wayne State University studying media and the messages communicated to singles, specifically single Black women. Our discussion covers a range of messages single women receive, and the effects they can have on the single community, as well as personal strategies to employ once we’re aware of the messages we’re taking in about our single status. Dr. Moorman’s research and insight are both fascinating, both new and longtime listeners of this podcast will enjoy what she has to share very much.

What is social infertility? This week's guest Jody Day, founder of Gateway Women, takes us through the realities of being childless or child-free not by choice, in a warm and welcoming discussion that's a beautiful way to kick of 2021. If you are single and desire parenthood in addition to partnership, it can feel like a lot, especially when the questions from other people come in. Jody offers some brilliant strategies and a lot of compassionate perspective on being childless—and all of those things are so welcome in this community.
