    DD SIG & JNPT Collaboration: Improvement in the Capacity for Activity Versus Improvement in Performance of Activity in Daily Life During Outpatient Rehabilitation– with Catherine Lang and Carey Holleran – Episode 32

    In this episode, we talk with Dr. Catherine Lang and Dr. Carey Holleran from Washington University in St. Louis about their article scheduled for publication in the January 2023 issue of JNPT titled “Improvement in the Capacity for Activity Versus Improvement in Performance of Activity in Daily Life During Outpatient Rehabilitation.” Dr. Lang and Dr. Holleran discuss the difference between patients’ capacity in the clinic and their functional performance outside of the clinical setting. In this multi-site trial, they compared performance and capacity measures for patients with Parkinson disease and stroke, measuring upper limb and lower limb function. Tune in to hear more about their statistical analysis, selection of outcomes, and clinical implications of considering performance when evaluating patients, setting goals, and measuring progress.
