I got me a big buck! I feel quite fortunate, as I was able to get my hands on a Colorado reissue tag and do some early rifle deer hunting. Put in 4 days of scouting, found a good one, and then had a great hunt in an awesome place.

So just a few weeks ago, I had no rifle tag for the year. Then, just like that I was able to catch an early rifle tag off the reissue list. Within a day or two, I was on the road to scout. On the 4th day of backpacking, I found a buck that excited me and he's the one I'll be after in early September.

I returned to the area where I had seen a buck that had a couple extras in July. He put on inches and added cheaters. He's a darn good one!

Another 3 days in the high country. I found a longtined 5x4 that I think should gross over 190, maybe as much as 195.

Another 3 days in the high country allowed me to look at about 50 bucks, with three of them being pretty impressive. One is over 30 inches wide, another is an old, heavy slug, and another has a few neat extras.

Spent 3 days in the high country looking for big bucks. Looked at about 45 bucks and saw 3 that got me a bit excited, including a neat droptine buck. Plus some big bulls!

Second scouting trip of the year for me and I located a neat buck that sports a tripod fork on one side, a cheater on the other and is fairly heavy.

Another nice day of looking at bucks. Found a couple real good bucks.

My son and I both held tags on this 3rd season hunt in Colorado. Saw lots of bucks, but no super bucks, but quite a few that were big enough for Anden.
