And I've been obsessed with, 'What makes people really successful, ultimately? You take these principles from working with a lot of clients, with top athletes. I had all these ideas down, and thought to myself, I know 2020 is going to be a rough year for everyone. I know a lot of people are struggling... And that can relate to my own story, my own family, it's been a rough year. And I think that book is going to be that, it's going to help a lot of people. If you read this book, you'll get the ideas of - here's what needs to be done. You can make a lot of good come of 2020, no matter the hand you're dealt." - Nick Shaw
Arielle Sanders, athlete and advocate, talks with Matt O'Keefe on Episode 17 of the Loud And Live Podcast. Arielle and Matt initially met in July at the "Future of CrossFit" summit in Colorado. Seeking to further the discussion, we invited Arielle on to share her story as a rising athlete, sponsored by Fatso Peanut Butter, and her perspective on race in the sport. "I want to see more people of color involved in CrossFit, from the Games level, to HQ, to affiliate owners. I know it's really important, if someone is in a position of power, and someone has this experience [as a person of color], they should be working together to solve problems. You can't design systems for people based on what you think they need. You have to co-create to find out: what is the problem and how we move forward. I will continue to advocate for myself and for black people and for people of color, but if the people in power aren't doing anything with the things that the marginalized are saying or working with them to make a change, nothings is going to change. I don't have the answers but I'm willing to work with people to get there." - Arielle Sanders
