Welcome to episode 150 of the BJJ Mental Coach Podcast! Today, I’m joined by Nick Haider, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and the founder of Guardian Project Los Angeles.
Nick’s journey in martial arts began at just 7 years old after being a victim of bullying, which ignited his passion for self-defense. What started as a way to protect himself evolved into a lifelong commitment to helping others through Jiu-Jitsu. Now, as the founder of Guardian Project LA, Nick is giving back to his community by providing underprivileged youth with the same opportunities he once received. Through Jiu-Jitsu, he’s teaching life lessons, building confidence, and shaping the future of the next generation.
Joining me today as co-host is Calder Powers, who was featured on episode 136. Calder is the executive director of the Guardian Project, a non-profit offering free Jiu-Jitsu training to underprivileged youth worldwide.
I know it's been a while since I last released an episode, as I’ve been focused on the Master Worlds. However, I’ve been busy creating content for Instagram @gustavodantasbjj and on my YouTube channel, The BJJ Mental Coach.
Enjoy the episode!

Welcome to BJJ Mental Coach Podcast Episode 149. I'm your host Gustavo Dantas, and today we have Derek Price, a former NFL player, jiu-jitsu brown belt, and founder of The Faction Foundation. Derek and I first crossed paths in the early 2000s when he was a chiropractor, and I've been inspired by his journey ever since. This episode is packed with personal development insights and might be my longest one yet, but it's worth it for all the great lessons Derek shares. Here's a quick intro:
Derek Price has transitioned from NFL player and CEO of publicly traded hospitals to impactful personal coaching. Drawing on his experiences in the NFL, medical field, and CEO boardrooms, Derek has created a powerful success system for driven individuals. He founded The Faction Foundation to offer ambitious professionals the same comprehensive plan, playbook, coaching, and team support typically reserved for top athletes, doctors, and business leaders. Married for 30 years with three daughters, Derek is dedicated to sharing these tools with those who previously lacked access.
If you're listening to the audio version, stay tuned for my final thoughts at the end of the episode, and why I titled it: "If it doesn't challenge you, it won't change you."

Join us as we talk with Kevin Lucas, co-founder of New Hope Regeneration. Kevin shares insights on the benefits and applications of stem cell therapy for chronic pain and health challenges.
I recently shared my struggle with a neck injury that limited my training and teaching. On December 1, 2023, I received my first stem cell treatment at New Hope Regeneration, combined with continued physiotherapy and chiropractic care, which allowed me to return to training and competing.
Joining me is co-host Bruno Bastos, owner of Bastos BJJ in Midland, TX. Bruno has undergone stem cell treatment twice at New Hope Regeneration and will share his transformative experience.
Kevin Lucas, a health and wellness advocate, entrepreneur, and public speaker, started his career as a Board Certified Advanced Structural Integrator, working with clients suffering from MS, autoimmune conditions, Parkinson’s, Fibromyalgia, and more. In 2015, he co-founded New Hope Regeneration to focus on regenerative therapy for its anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory benefits. Kevin's martial arts journey began in childhood and later transitioned to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, inspired by his brother, Jamie Riedinger, a multiple-time IBJJF Nationals, Pan, and World Master champion.
This episode aims to educate listeners on stem cell therapy and its potential benefits, whether you choose New Hope Regeneration or another provider.
Enjoy the conversation and gain insights on whether stem cell therapy could be right for you.
