How can three women simply vanish?

On June 7, 1992, Suzie Streeter and her friend Stacy McCall were celebrating their high school graduation. They went to multiple parties and caught up with friends. After police were called to one of the parties, the two girls decided to call it a night and headed back to Suzie’s home to spend the night.

Suzie and Stacy made it back to the house - their vehicles, purses and other belongings were there. What happened after they got home is unknown to this day. The girls along with Suzie’s mother, Sherrill Levitt, vanished and are still missing 32 years later.

Police have said the blinds were pulled back as if the women had been looking outside just before they disappeared. It is believed that Stacy left the home only wearing a t-shirt and underwear, as all of her other belongings are accounted for. A lamp shade on the front porch of the home was broken but there were no other signs of a struggle.

In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast, we discuss the cold case disappearance of The Springfield Three.

Brian Cohee II was a troubled teen who suffered from mental disorders and was interested in “death and morbidity.

In February 2021, after a movie night with his parents, Brian left their home in search of a victim. He came across a homeless man named Warren Barnes sleeping under a bridge. Brian stabbed Warren multiple times with a kitchen knife before decapitating and dismembering him. Brian put Warren’s head and hands in a bag and took them home with him - stashing them in his closet .

Brian’s mother Terri came across the bag covered in maggots days later. She called police immediately and they arrived to question Brian. There is infamous shocking footage of Brian confidently admitting to the murder.

“Police, they don’t seem to care as much about high-risk individuals: homeless people, prostitutes, etc,” he said. “So I was deliberately looking for someone who lived that type of life.”

“I’m like, that’s a homeless person, so I grabbed my knife, I put on three layers of gloves because plastic gloves can betray their users because they’re so thin…I took the knife, I pulled back the canvas and I stabbed his neck,” he later said.

Veronica Butler was involved in a fierce custody battle with her ex regarding their two children. Over the years, there had been allegations of abuse by other family members. In March 2024, Veronica was only able to see her children via supervised visits due to the allegations.

On March 30, Veronica set out with Jilian Kelley to pick up her children to attend a birthday party. Jilian was an acquaintance who had been allowed by the court to supervise Veronica’s visits with her children.

The two women would never arrive to pick up the children. Their vehicle was found abandoned in a remote area. Pools of blood, a hammer and gun paraphernalia was found at the scene.

Four people have now been arrested in relation to this case. They are Tad Cullum, Tifany Adams, Cole Twombly, and Cora Twombly. This case is a very tangled web - Tifany was Veronica’s ex-mother-in-law. The newly released affidavit suggests that the women were murdered because Tifany was concerned that Veronica would soon be granted unsupervised visitation with the kids.

In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast, we discuss the brutal murders of Veronica Butler and Jilian Kelley.

• (9:14) - Gypsy Rose Updates
• (17:50) - Sebastian Rogers
Sebastian Rogers (15) was last seen by his mother Katie Proudfoot on the night of February 25, 2024. Katie has said that he did his chores and went into his bedroom. At around 10pm, she called for him to go to sleep.

As some background into Sebastian, he is autistic and has been described as “very smart” and “not a mischievous child by any means.” Sebastian has limited social skills and at Christmas time is said to have asked for some friends.

When Katie went in at 6am the following morning to wake Sebastian, he was not in his room. No trace of him has been found since.

The search for Sebastian has been elaborate and comprehensive. At one point, investigators played his favorite song ‘Eye of the Tiger’ in an effort to lure him out of any hiding spot. Police also searched a landfill after a garbage collector said a trash can from Sebastian’s neighborhood felt heavier than usual.

Now, more than six weeks later, Sebastian is still missing. Did he run away and has somehow managed to survive with no phone, money or other essentials? Or did something happen to Sebastian inside his family home?

In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast, we the disappearance of teenager Sebastian Rogers.

• Ruby Franke (8:28)
• Doe Cases (35:17)
The diaries of former mommy YouTuber Ruby Franke have been released and go into detail about how she abused her children. Ruby believed they were possessed by demons and repeatedly wrote that her son and daughter were the “spawns of Satan."

In a July 2023 entry about her son, Ruby wrote: “I will not feed a demon.” The children were found emaciated and injured in August 2023. Ruby has since pleaded guilty to four counts of aggravated child abuse and will serve her sentence in a Utah prison. She may face decades behind bars.

In this age of technology and DNA advancements, it is unbelievable that some unidentified John and Jane Doe cases have never gotten their names back. We discuss two such cases in this episode. In June 2020, the remains of a male and female were found in Pinos Altos, New Mexico. A gun and suicide notes were found near their skeletonized remains.

In August 2021 in Wadesboro, North Carolina, a barely clothed female was seen on a trail cam in the middle of the night, in the woods. Her remains were found the following year and she remains unidentified as of the time of recording. Could this Jane Doe be missing woman Amber Rae Johnston?

In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast, we discuss updates in the Ruby Franke child abuse case as well as some Jane and John Doe cases.

(6:55) - Twin Flames Universe

Jeff Ayan met Megan Plante online in 2012. The couple had similar interests and were both interested in spirituality. Megan was studying under a spiritual guide at the time, and that person advised her that her spiritual name should be Shaleia. Megan has gone by that name ever since.

Jeff and Shaleia moved in together and soon began to form ‘Twin Flames Universe’.

A Twin Flame is a term that has been used to describe two people who are equals. Twin Flames are meant to push the other in their journey of self-discovery.

Jeff and Shaleia have allegedly urged their followers to pursue their twin flame matches, regardless of the law. Some of their followers have been told to ignore restraining orders in order to match with their flame.

Twin Flames Universe followers sometimes pay thousands of dollars for information from Jeff and Shaleia. One former devotee even had to declare bankruptcy after spending all of her money and up to ten hours per day studying Jeff and Shaleia’s teachings. Vanity Fair journalist Alice Hines described the classes as “a therapeutic-spiritual reality show”.

Is Twin Flames Universe a cult? Jeff has denied that is it. He told VICE “We created an organization of love and harmony which heals and enriches everyone in it and everyone who is connected to anyone in it.”

In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast, we discuss Twin Flames Universe.

Dutch tourists Kris Kremers and Lisanne Froon arrived in Boquete, Panama in March 2014. They had prearranged to volunteer at a local school and were excited to spend time in the beautiful country. When they went to the school to start their work, they were told there was no place for them. They were disappointed and looked for ways to fill their days.

On April 1, 2014, Kris and Lisanne went for a hike on the El Pianista Trail. They were only planning to spend a few hours there and took no supplies with them. They headed onto the trail and were never seen alive again.

Months later, some of their belongings were found, including their phones and a camera. Investigators determined that they had attempted to make emergency calls from their phones for days after the hike, but the calls never connected. There were many interesting photos found on the camera, including 90 photos taken in a short period, one week after they went missing. One photo was found to have been deleted from the camera and authorities have never been able to recover it.

Some remains of Kris and Lisanne were eventually found. Panamanian authorities have never released full autopsies for the women.

In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast, we discuss the mysterious deaths of Kris Kremers and Lisanne Froon.

• (29:51) Birdie Pruessner & Anne Muhoro
Birdie Pruessner had four beautiful children that seemed to be the center of her universe. She made many social media posts about how much she loved her children. In February 2024, Birdie posted many times in one day. One post read:

‘All my kids, peacefully sleeping in my bed. Curled up together. Knowing they are loved so fiercely that I’d do absolutely anything for them. This is my favorite moment.’

Soon after that post, a fire broke out in Birdie’s home. She passed away, along with her children and family pets. Many people started pointing fingers at Birdie’s ex-partners.

Police quickly determined that Birdie was the one to start the fire. It is thought she set a mattress in the home alight. She left a suicide note in her minivan. Birdie’s family have said that she got to an awful place, one that resulted in tragic consequences.

Anne Muhoro lived on the opposite side of the world to Birdie, in Canberra, Australia. Anne and her ex-partner George had a tumultuous relationship and had been fighting in court for years over the custody of their two children.

Early one February morning, Anne turned off the electricity to their home and removed the batteries from smoke detectors. She then set a series of fires in the home, killing herself and her two young children. Anne died from the effects of the fire, but investigators were not able to determine how the children died – did Anne murder them prior to the blaze?

In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast, we discuss two cases of Moms Who Murder – Birdie Pruessner and Anne Muhoro.

• (12:02) - Mashenka Reid/ Gavin Smit
Mashenka Reid’s mother left their family in late 2023. After that, Mashenka, at age 17, was asked by her father to stay home from school most days in order to care for her younger, disabled siblings. In February 2024, Mashenka asked her father to goto the store to get pizza ingredients. While he was gone, Mashenka got online and figured out how to use her father’s gun. When he returned home from the store, Mashenka allegedly shot both him and her little brother dead.

In the height of the Covid Lockdown in 2020, Gavin Smith’s family forbade him to see his girlfriend, Rebecca. Gavin was 16 at the time. Investigators would later find over 15,000 Facebook messages between the two. In December 2020, Gavin called Rebecca on FaceTime – he was holding a gun and a knife. Rebecca encouraged Gavin to kill his family so that the two could be together. Gavin murdered his mother, step-father and two younger brothers while on the call. After the murders, Gavin texted Rebecca and said “Ok baby, I’m a murderer.

On February 15, 2024, an Amber Alert was issued for missing 11 year-old Audrii Cunningham, in Livingston, Texas. Police initially said that Audrii had been dropped off to a bus stop earlier that morning and had never made it to school. The last person said to be seen with Audrii was Don ‘Steven’ McDougal.

Steven’s long rap sheet for unrelated crimes quickly became public and many pointed the finger at him. Steven began commenting on the True Crime Society Facebook page, protesting his innocence. “I was there and was questioned. I am not running or hiding,” he wrote before commenting again and saying, “I have done everything I can to help find her. I have done nothing wrong.”

Audrii’s tiny body was found in a river on Tuesday February 20, 2024. She had been weighed down before being dumped.

Steven McDougal has been charged with Audrii’s murder.

In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast, we discuss the abduction and murder of Audrii Cunningham.

Abduction or Hoax? | Lacey Overby & Denise Huskins
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO GO STRAIGHT TO THE CRIME CONTENT, PLEASE CHECK THE RELEVANT TIMESTAMPS.
• (9:33) - Start
Texas nurse Lacey Lyn Overby allegedly decided to help a homeless man on February 1, 2024 by buying him some food. She alleges that as she opened her car window to hand the food to him, he reached in, opened the door to her vehicle and abducted her. She managed to send a text to her daughter with their code words ‘purple pancakes’, so her family knew she was in trouble. She also managed to text a description of her abductor.

This man allegedly forced Lacey to drive hours to the Mexican border. Just before they got there, he told her to drive over the border for 20 miles. He then got out of the car. Lacey was found by authorities, waiting alone in her car, in line to cross the border.

Since Lacey’s safe recovery, there have been no updates from police, leading many to speculate if this was a true abduction or not.

In 2015, Denise Huskins was in bed asleep with her boyfriend Aaron Quinn in California. They were awoken with lasers being pointed on their wall. The couple were bound and their eyes were covered with blacked out goggles. Aaron was warned that if he called police, there would be consequences. Denise was then abducted.

Two days later, Denise’s abductor released her outside of her family home. Police did not believe Aaron and Denise’s stories and accused them publicly of lying and wasting police resources. The couple eventually received a multi-million dollar settlement when their story was proven to be true and a man was arrested.

In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast, we discuss the possible abduction of Lacey Lyn Overby, as well as the abduction and recovery of Denise Huskins.
