The Busby family was a typical family living in a sleepy beach community.  But in August of 1979, all that came crashing down when John Busby was shot and nearly killed on his way to work as a police officer.  While John knew who his assailant was from the instant the trigger was pulled, the man responsible would escape justice because of his connections within their community.

In September of 2004, Mary Lou Jones called one of her daughter’s friends in Florida, concerned that she had gone several days without hearing from her daughter Michelle. The friend, who also hadn’t heard from Michelle in days, went over to Michelle’s house, and discovered a horrific scene. Michelle and her aunt Teri had been savagely murdered by Teri’s husband, Charlie Brandt. Charlie then took his own life. An investigation into the life of Charlie Brandt shocked detectives as they found that this was not the first murder Charlie had committed, that he could’ve been responsible for over 20 vicious, graphic murders across the state of Florida.

In September of 1978, Rodney Alcala won the date with Cheryl Bradshaw on the popular show, The Dating Game. It was said that his charm and use of innuendo ultimately got him the win. It was also said that this alleged charm was what enabled him to rape and murder at least eight women. It is believed, though, that he may have killed over 100 women in the 1970’s.

In the early morning hours of Sunday, May 29th, 2005, shots rang out from the Shaker Farm in Bellefontaine, Ohio. Nikki Vagades received a call from her 15-year-old step sister, begging for help. When Nikki arrived at the farmhouse, she immediately called 911. Detectives arrived to find six people on the property, all dead from gunshot wounds. Stacy Moody, the youngest child that lived in the house, was barely alive. Just a few hours later, the Logan County Sheriff had closed the case, ruling it a murder-suicide. Despite his certainty, MANY people continue to question whether this massacre was a planned cover-up, possibly by law enforcement.

In May of 2001, Jennifer Stahl and four friends were in her apartment in New York City when another man was buzzed in.  They didn’t know that he had another man with him, and the two were planning on robbing everyone there along with money that Jennifer was supposed to have.  Each man would later claim that the other was responsible, but at the end, all 5 of the others had been shot and left for dead.  Investigators worked with the little evidence they had, and were able to identify their two suspects.  While one would turn himself in, the other would be arrested across the country with the help of America’s Most Wanted.

In April of 2009, 17-year-old Brittanee Drexel left her home in Rochester, New York to spend Spring Break with friends in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, despite her mother telling her that she couldn’t. Less than 48 hours after she arrived at her destination, Brittanee disappeared, seemingly off the face of the earth. For 13 years, Brittanee’s case went unsolved, with several people being wrongly suspected of behind behind her disappearance. Finally, the FBI has been able to charge someone with her murder and bring Brittanee back home to Rochester.

On Halloween weekend in 2010, the Liske family enjoyed hunting and a neighborhood get-together before the Trick-Or-Treat festivities were to begin.  But when 16-year-old, Devon, realized that something was wrong after returning home from his church choir concert, he went to his parents’ bedroom to see if they were there.  He walked in and thought they were pulling an elaborate Halloween prank on him when he saw them lying in bed with blood on their sheets.  However, he quickly learned that it wasn’t a prank and someone had killed his parents.  Unfortunately, his parents weren’t the only family members murdered in their home.  His older brother, Derek, was later found dead in his bedroom as well.

On Oct. 17, Robert Roberson could be the first person in the U.S. executed based on the discredited “shaken baby syndrome” hypothesis.

Time is running out to stop the execution of Robert Roberson, on Oct. 17, and your voice could make a critical difference. Robert’s case is riddled with unscientific evidence, inaccurate and misleading medical testimony, and prejudicial treatment. This is a life that may be unjustly taken, and Gov. Greg Abbott has the power to intervene. We urge Texans to call Gov. Abbott and ask him to halt this execution, ensuring that all the facts are thoroughly reviewed.
