We all know that smartphones, iPads, and computers are inventions, but generally, we don't tend to think of ourselves as inventions. If you meet somebody and they say, "Where are you from?" They're not asking, "Where were you manufactured?" Or they're not saying, "Where were you invented?" They're just, "Where were you born?" So we would not quite use that invention word for our human personalities. But if we go a lot deeper, there is a workbook lesson in the Course where Jesus says, "I have invented the world I see." So he's using the invented word. All inventions are constructed. They're like products, but the mind has fallen asleep and forgotten that it believes in separation from God and forgot that it's dreaming. So it doesn't tend to think of itself as a construct. Jesus says, "You think of the body as an end instead of a means."

His message encourages a communal shift toward deeper understanding and complete surrender to the process of undoing.

Christmas Movie Gathering in Brazil with David Hoffmeister 2024

In this Christmas gathering in Brazil, David discusses time loop movies and their connection to the Bible, which emphasizes the importance of not holding images before God. The world is a world of images, and when we make certain images important, they become idols. Jesus taught that the kingdom of heaven is within us, and true religion is peace of mind.

The world has many distractions, making it tempting not to pray and remain still. David uses the example of Walt Disney's animated characters, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, to illustrate this point. The key thing is that the animation doesn't seem to happen until you multiply this image many times and very quickly, turning what seems like a two-dimensional image into a three-dimensional motion picture. This illusion of change in motion is the trick of time, and underneath all these moving images, there is a belief that something is missing. Something is lacking.

The entire linear time-space cosmos is a world of scarcity, lack, and competition. The same is true for human beings and relationships; experiencing universal agape love is not possible in the construct of images.


The cosmos is like a giant mask over the light of the I AM Presence. Jesus said, "Before Abraham was, I AM," referring to love prior to the belief in time and space. He proclaims that that's what love is.

4th Session - Closing Session, Q&A, Mosteiro Itaici, Sao Paulo, Brazil with David Hoffmeister and Paulinha Oliveira

In this last session from the December Brazil Retreat, David and Paulinha answered questions from the participants.

Question: "How do I know if I'm listening to the Holy Spirit or my intuition?"  David: "Discipline is a lifelong devotion to hear only one voice, the Holy Spirit. The guidance of the Holy Spirit comes through with a deep feeling of peace, comfort, and blessings. The Holy Spirit is soft and gentle, never commanding or demanding, and leaves it up to the mind to follow. Sometimes, the Holy Spirit's guidance can be unexpected, leading to a reaction from the ego with doubt-thoughts. The ego focuses on past outcomes or hoped-for future outcomes, while the Holy Spirit's guidance is practical, straight, and simple. The Holy Spirit does not provide long-range goals or plans. It is essential to have discernment throughout one's life.

The movie used in this workshop focuses on Jesus's Mother, Mary, and portrays a series of unpredictable events, with the Angel Gabriel serving as a guiding light. These events, though firm, hint at a purpose beyond this world. The ego created the world as a closed system of darkness with no hope of escape. The world was dark before Christ, with Jewish prophecies about the Messiah seeming forgotten. Salvation is seen as a way to escape this darkness, fulfilling the prophecy. The New Testament underscores the importance of Jesus's birth and liberation from a bleak and dismal world. Without a bright ray of light, no contrast or sign of something greater exists.

David starts this second morning session by emphasizing the importance of perfect equality in our perception of the world, stating that no one is ahead or behind and that we should practice forgiveness by letting judgments come up and letting them go.

David and Paulinha also emphasize the importance of the Holy Instant, which allows us to see our brothers and sisters in a new way. They underline that differences are judgments, and when we fall asleep, we forget God and heaven, leading to intense fear and chaos.

The ego attempts to invent an identity to replace our Christ Spirit, and the spiritual journey involves letting the darkness come up from the unconscious mind and letting it go to the Holy Spirit. Communication is crucial in allowing the darkness to come up and go to the light, and mirroring is essential for releasing it.
