Travel N Sh*t is a podcast highlighting the experiences of a young(ish) black woman from New York City traveling the world solo. The “how I did it” conversation is important but the "how I’ve grown and what I’ve learned" conversation is where I thrive. I have seen plenty of people traveling the world before, but not heard anyone who looked or sounded like me discussing why travel is so life changing. Travel N Sh*t satisfies that need by holding space for me and my guests to inform and inspire other people of color to get out and grow through travel.
This week I'm joined by Gionna Nicole, the founder of Avid Swim, a sustainable luxury swimwear brand. We explore Gionna's journey from modeling to designing, the cultural inspirations behind her collections, and the importance of collaboration in the fashion industry. Gionna shares her experiences traveling the world, the challenges of navigating logistics and cultural nuances in business, and her vision for the future of Avid Swim. The conversation emphasizes the intersection of travel, creativity, and personal growth, highlighting how experiences shape design and the importance of community in entrepreneurship.

With the state of the country after this most recent election, navigating white spaces throughout our travels is front of mind more than ever. I think by now most of us understand the US for what it is, but there's nothing like updated statistics as a reminder that Black Americans have quite the unique experience in the country we call home. This week I'm joined by Anthony and Marlie Love to discuss how they use their platform Traveling While Black (CHECK THEM OUT ON FOX SOUL!!) to highlight Black history (or the lack there of) and their current experiences as Black travelers in the Pacific Northwest and beyond. They use practical metrics such as the number of Black people seen, visibility of signs of inclusion, quality of the drive, and overall comfortability for Black people in a destination to inform viewers of what they can expect should they venture to visit. Tune in.

We mapped out such a convenient and exciting route from NYC to Acadia National Park! I lived out a childhood dream of visiting Salem, MA and added new states to my list of exploration! We visited Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine. Dive in to see how we broke up the drive, the food, what I'd recommend and what I'd leave behind.

I’m taking a break! More like a pause…
I’ll be home recovering from fibroid surgery in august and I really want to give myself the opportunity to rest. over the next 8 episodes, i’m going to be re-introducing you guys to some of my favorite episodes, and including yours.
I’ll be back on October 10th (10/10!!) with Episode 300, with a fresh and new episode in celebration of 6 years of Travel N Sh!t!!
While the episodes aren’t newly recorded, they may still be new to you! I’ve got nearly SIX years of content I’ll be going through.
I’ve got some fall travel coming up and guests booked for the upcoming weeks. I’d like to spend some time on the things that happen in the background and pouring into some of the ideas i just can’t stop thinking about over the last few years and months.
If you’d like to follow along and keep up with my projects along the way, join the mailing list. http://www.travelnshitpodcast.com/subscribe and be sure to follow on IG/Twitter/TikTok/ all at @travelnsh_t
