This episode is all about the surprising benefits of consistently sharing your creative work. I examine two case studies: Jonathan Coulton and Emily Hope Price, as well as my own history as an author, publisher, and prolific content creator.
Bottom line: When you commit to regularly sharing your message … you create opportunities to get exposure, attract fans, and make more of an impact with your books.
I feel so strongly about this I decided to launch the 30-Day Build Your Fan Base Challenge to help you (and me) share our work on a consistent basis.
This four-week program starts January 3, 2018.

The new year is right around the corner. How will you define “success” as an author in 2018?
For our purposes here, I define success as “making an impact” with your words, ideas, and stories.
In other words, it’s the level at which you touch people and bring value to their lives through your message and books. To reach that point you must expose your creative work and connect with people.
Listen to this episode or watch this video for my best advice on how to do that in 2018.

There’s a good chance you have fallen victim to this common author “crap trap.” It happens when you hear a voice say, “Who are YOU to call yourself a writer (or an author or an expert)?”
This causes many authors to desperately seek validation and credentials, all in an effort to prop up their worthiness factor.
Well, here’s another take on it that just might empower you to think and act in a different way.

I don’t want to sound like a downer here. Because I know you have good intentions when you take steps to promote yourself online.
At least you’re taking action. Most authors do little or nothing to promote their books. So, congrats to you!
However, there’s a good chance you are making some social media mistakes that aren’t serving you.
And you’re probably not even aware of them visit their website.
On this episode of the Book Promotion Podcast I cover two BIG blunders you want to avoid when promoting your book with social media.

How do you refer to the good people who support your written work? As readers, buyers, clients, or customers?
That’s fine. But to have a stellar career as an author you’ll need to embrace the F-word: FANS!
“Patrons” are people who visit your website, subscribe to your newsletter, and pay for your services.
“Fans,” on the other hand, cheer you on, rave about you to their friends, follow everything you do with interest, go to great lengths to attend your public appearances, and more.
Which would you rather have?
