A Paranormal Experience
Something old, something new, something familiar… all of it true. It’s normal to feel uneasy in a new place, with unfamiliar surroundings and nobody but strangers around you. It doesn’t make the experience much easier, but at least it’s expected. But sometimes you’re somewhere you’ve been a thousand times before when something catches you out… if you’re observant enough, anyway. Today’s stories will make you want to keep your eyes open and your head on a swivel – and really, that’s for the best.

Hospitals, mountains, and gas stations… oh my. If you’ve had inexplicable experiences for yourself, where did the most eerie of them take place? At this point, I think it’s a given that you can bump into something unnatural in the hallways of a hospital, and anything goes in the Appalachians. But a glimpse of the paranormal in a grocery store or out your bedroom window hits different, right? Today, we’re bringing together a whole clutch of stories that prove no matter where you are, something could be lurking just around the corner to frighten you.

Is it Halloween yet? Trick question: here at It’s Haunted, it’s always spooky season. The veil between worlds may not be as thin the other 364 days in the year, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t stories to tell. So turn the lights down, sit comfortably, and grab some candy, because today… you’re in for a treat.

Hey, guess what? It’s August, and I don’t care how early you may think it is, but I’m already getting into the spirit of the spooky season. Ready for the shorter days, darker nights, and warm beverages while we hear creepy stories no matter how scared they make us. Today’s episode has a curated mix of scary stories and some landing right into the “oh heck no” category. I recommend keeping the lights on for this one.

The summer solstice has come and gone which means the longest days of the year are behind us. The shadows will slowly begin to stretch spindly fingers over the ground and deepen in the corner of our rooms. Being secure inside will no longer feel safe with the darkness brushing against the windows.

I always think that it’s worse when something makes your hair stand on end with fear during the middle of the day. Like, at nighttime, it’s almost expected that something spooky can happen, and we can brush it off as that ancient part of our brain warning us that darkness = danger… right? The daylight might make things seem less scary – or at least, it’s easier to shake off the feeling of fear when the sun is shining, and there are people casually milling about.

It’s bad enough to feel like you’re being watched or followed by a living, breathing person. Whether it’s walking past the same person too many times at the grocery store, someone getting off at the same bus stop as you, or turning just in time to see a stranger in a crowd look away from you. That sort of thing can often be written off as a coincidence, especially if you get home safely and never see the person again. But what about when whoever, or whatever, is tracing your footsteps doesn’t have a face to put to it?

The variety of paranormal experiences has always fascinated me. Most of them are scary – that’s what happens when something inexplicable occurs: we get frightened. There isn’t much wriggle room for other emotions when you hear an animalistic scream from your empty basement, for example. But some stories are just unnerving – like, when the ghost appeared in your home, nothing bad happened, but you didn’t know what it wanted from you or what it was trying to say. Some sweet stories include a family reaching through the veil to reassure you or friendly neighborhood ghosts passing by to say hello.
