Our 100th Episode is one we are so excited to share with you! Thank you for being here! We have a special conversation with Sunrise Flour Mill and Linens and Loaves, a microbakery. Holiday baking is more than just a tradition—it’s a time when food brings people together. The warmth of the kitchen, the smell of fresh bread in the oven, and the joy of sharing something homemade can make the holidays even more special. But for many, bread has been off the table due to discomfort or digestive issues. If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone. While gluten sensitivity is a concern for some, for many, it’s actually the type of flour and its processing methods that make all the difference.
In this episode, we explore how choosing the right flour can transform the holiday baking experience for some of us. The right flour can make bread not only more delicious but also more digestible. We share our personal journey of going gluten-free for years because traditional bread made us feel terrible — and what impact Heritage Wheat had for us.
Joining us are Marty Glanville, co-founder of Sunrise Flour Mill with her husband, and Alexandria Fisk of the microbakery Linens and Loaves, who are both passionate about bringing heritage flours to the forefront of the baking world. If you’ve been avoiding bread and want to enjoy it again—especially during the holidays—this episode is for you!
Tune in to learn how to make holiday bread that’s not just healthier but actually enjoyable. You’ll walk away ready to try baking your own loaves and see how a few simple changes can make a world of difference in how you feel. Curious? Let’s get baking!
Marty Glanville – Co-Founder of Sunrise Flour Mill (@sunriseflourmill)
Marty Glanville is the visionary behind Sunrise Flour Mill, located in North Branch, Minnesota. After recognizing the need for healthier, more digestible flour options, Marty and her husband "unretired" and set out to change the way we think about baking. Sunrise Flour Mill produces single-source, organic, heritage flours using a unique milling technology from the 1930s called the Unifine mill. This high-velocity impact mill shatters the grain into fine particles, creating flour that’s lighter, fluffier, and easier on the digestive system. In a word, it's unbelievable! By focusing on organic heritage grains, Marty’s commitment to both sustainability and health ensures that Sunrise Flour Mill produces flour that not only delivers exceptional baking results but also supports long-term wellness.
Alexandria Fisk – Founder of Linens & Loaves (@linensandloaves)
Alexandria Flisk is the heart behind Linens & Loaves, where she crafts fresh, homemade bread for her local community using the highest quality ingredients, including the organic heritage flour from Sunrise Flour Mill. As a homeschooling mom of two and a lover of pottery, Alexandria blends her passion for family, sustainable living, and quality baking into everything she does. From the moment she launched Linens & Loaves, her goal has been to bring people together around fresh, delicious bread—made with flour that’s not just better for you, but also more digestible. Whether it’s baking the perfect loaf or building community, Alexandria’s journey is a beautiful example of how simple, high-quality ingredients can create meaningful connections and nourishing experiences.
About Sunrise Flour Mill:
Sunrise Flour Mill is dedicated to helping people rediscover real food with their organic heritage wheat products. These flours are more nutritious, flavorful, and easier to digest than modern hybridized wheat, making them a great choice for those with gluten intolerance. Their offerings include organic pizza flour, whole wheat pastry flour, bread flour, and all-purpose white flour, along with healthy cereals, pancake mixes, waffle mixes, and oatmeal. They also offer a variety of organic baking mixes like scone, biscuit, crepe, and bran muffin mixes, as well as organic pasta options such as fusilli, rigatoni, and radiatore noodles. Sunrise Flour Mill hopes to inspire home bakers with their quality ingredients, tools, and recipes, and they are always available to assist with any questions.
