REPLAY: How Are Interstitial Cystitis, Endometriosis and SIBO Connected and How Can They be Treated Together?

You may remember back in late August I was promoting an event I was speaking at; the wonderful IC Retreat, a virtual 3 day event hosted by Joana Bartlett - all about empowering IC patients with tools, knowledge and support.

My presentation was a deep dive into the connection between interstitial cystitis, endometriosis and SIBO and how to manage these conditions together. I was so proud of this presentation and felt so passionately that everyone should have this info, that I asked Joana if I could share it all with you… So, here it is!

    In this presentation I discuss:

    • The prevalence of endo in the IC and SIBO community and the current research and statistics.
    • The definitions of endo and SIBO, the theories behind endo development and the two key causes of SIBO.
    • How endometriosis can lead to interstitial cystitis or bladder related conditions - and how endometriosis can lead to SIBO!
    • How SIBO can contribute to the development of endo and interstitial cystitis, and the complexity of the chicken or the egg scenario with endo and SIBO.
    • The co-conditions of endo, IC and SIBO: PoTs, h-EDS and MCAS and the key thread connecting them all (ahem: histamine!) and the symptoms to look out for.
    • How endo and SIBO are diagnosed, and how to treat both conditions in context of interstitial cystitis.

If you’d rather watch the presentation, you can do so here!

REPLAY: How to Manage Early Menopause, Medically Induced Menopause and Natural Menopause with Endometriosis, with Susan Clinton

Today is a special episode, because my mentor, the woman who coached me through my coaching training, Susan Clinton, is joining us!

Susan Clinton is a board certified women’s health physical therapist, a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Therapy, and a board certified health and wellness coach - to name just a few of her hats! She is also a Master Coach for the Integrative Women’s Health Institute, hence why she ended up being my coach and mentor!

In today’s episode, Susan and I are discussing endometriosis and menopause - and how to experience a better one!

    In this episode we discuss:

    • The difference between natural menopause and surgically or medically induced menopause.
    • Myth-busting the lie that endo doesn’t affect those in menopause and the research on early menopause and endo.
    • How menopause can affect endometriosis symptoms, plus the general symptoms that can occur with menopause.
    • How to improve your experience of menopause and reduce your symptoms.

This isn’t a topic we’ve ever covered before on the show, but it’s certainly worth learning about now so you’re prepared and informed!

REPLAY: Four At-Home Ways to Boost Your Migrating Motor Complex If You Have Endo Belly or SIBO

We are taking a short season break, so in the meantime, I’m revisiting some old episodes that have been asked about or requested over on Instagram. Enjoy and see you soon with some new episodes!

The migrating motor complex is a wave like emotion that occurs in the small intestine, not large, between meals and overnight. This wave motion clears out any old food debris and bacteria once food has already passed through into the large intestine, so basically, see the MMC as the washing up, once all the leftover food has been cleared off the dinner plates.

Now, the MMC is crucial for good gut health and when it slows down, we get a build-up of bacteria and old food, this means that not only is there a constant supply of food debris in the small intestine for bacteria to munch on, but every time food enters the small intestine, that food will be munched too.

How to Optimise Digestion for Less Endo Belly

Today we’re doing another clip from my course, Live and Thrive with Endo 2.0 as I am still getting over covid and what has turned out to be several of the most stressful days I’ve ever experienced (more on that another time).

During the past couple of days, I’ve not had access to the internet and so I wasn’t able to share that the course doors were closing for enrolment or even actually close the doors, so if you want to sigh up, you still can. I’m likely going to leave the doors open until Sunday or Monday, so just for a few more days.

Today’s lesson is all about first line therapies for optimising digestion, this is one lesson of three and this one is mainly about how you’re eating and what you’re eating. If you have a lot of bloating and endo belly, I would really pay attention to the sections on chewing, mindful eating and boosting stomach acid, digestive enzymes and bile and work on those first.

If you’re curious about the course, you can learn more at www.theendobellycoach.com/live-thrive-with-endo or just go to the link in my show notes here.

Need more help or want to learn how to work with me?

My new and improved digital course Live and Thrive with Endo 2.0 is open for enrolment!

I’ve spent the last two years refining and honing it, to bring you an updated version with new info and strategies - and a specific focus on preventing overwhelm!

This course offers you a customisable roadmap and it identifies the most important changes to begin with first, fast tracking you out of overwhelm and into symptom relief.

Your Brain, Pain and the Vagus Nerve

Today I have an exciting episode for you! I’m still full of covid or flu, on top of preparing for my course Live and Thrive with Endo 2.0 which begins on Monday, and packing to take our rescue kitten back to the UK - today!

So, there’s a lot going on - no wonder I got sick!

So, instead of doing a replay episode, I thought I’d give you a peak into what I’m woking on in my course, and so today, I am sharing one of my lessons which is all about the science of how pain works and how it can be influenced by the vagus nerve and our nervous system (which are pretty much one and the same, as you’ll come to learn!).

This is a great episode to provide you with overall pain education and here’s an interesting fact - pain education actually helps to treat and reduce pain! So that’s a huge benefit of this episode, and the bonus is, if you’re wondering about the course and whether it’s for you, this gives you a little taster as to what’s in store (and remember - there’s a 14 day return policy too).

If you’re curious about the course and want to learn more, doors close tomorrow Sunday, April 15th, 11:55pm BST and late bird pricing has just kicked in, dropping the course back down to Super Early Bird pricing of £100 upfront or with a payment plan of £35 per month for three months.

You can learn more at www.theendobellycoach.com/live-thrive-with-endo or just sign up here.

So today, as you’ll be able to hear in this intro, I am pretty damn sick, so I cannot record a full episode for you.

Instead, I am sharing my recent free masterclass, Creating a Roadmap for Endo Healing.

For this masterclass, you’re going to need to get comfy and grab a note book and a pen because we’re literally going to be designing your endo management plan.

This masterclass is much better when you’re joining live as you get the interactive component and the slides, etc. but you can still work your way through it just from listening - so, let’s get started!

Can you help me save Jelly the kitten? We are currently travelling, working remotely, and within 24 hours of arriving in Montenegro, we met Jelly. He was extremely thin, with a distended stomach and a little lollypop head and bulging eyes. We took him to the vets where he was put on an IV drip for dehydration, and treated with antibiotics and anti-inflammatories for a bacterial infection that has spread into his bloodstream from his intestines. His intestines are damaged due to excessive worms, which has caused him to become malnourished.

We have found him a foster home and a forever home in the UK, but the total cost is over £1200. We have already spent hundreds on vet visits getting him to this point, and need your help, if you can.

If you are able to and want to support, you can donate and read Jelly’s full story on our Go Fund Me page. I truly cannot express how much your support means to me, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

High and Low Oestrogen Levels and How to Test Correctly

This week we’re staying on our theme of hormone testing and we’re looking at oestrogen.

There are a number of signs to look out for with oestrogen dominance or excess, and they pretty much all fall under the PMS umbrella, but here are a few tale-tell signs that I often see with clients.

If you’ve noticed symptoms of hormonal imbalances but you’d like some help working it out all out, I wanted to let you know I have two one on one coaching spaces becoming available in the next several weeks. I work with endo clients one on one for at least six months to address root causes and reduce pain, gut health problems, chronic fatigue and hormonal imbalances to name a few. If you’re interested in learning more, there’s a link to my coaching page and application for in the show notes.

And remember, if you’re not ready for personalised help or you don’t have the budget for it, I’m still running my Endo Awareness Month Flare Up Prevention Mini Email Course. The link to sign up is in the show notes.

If you are able to and want to support, you can donate and read Jelly’s full story on our Go Fund Me page. I truly cannot express how much your support means to me, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
