    This week on the show Maine and Miranda recap PGF Season 7 the Light Heavyweights, Midwest Finishers the Mens 155 bracket and Women's 125 Title. plus we preview the IBJJF Crown, Main Character BJJ 5,  ADXC 7, and Pit Submission. 

    In the news section, we discuss the return of Marcelo Garcia to One Championship. After nearly 13 years away from competition Marcello Garcia has announced that he is returning and has signed with One Championship. We discuss some of Marcello' s history, and some of his possible opponents, and some opponents we would potentially like to see him make his return against. 

    In the recap section of the shower, we discuss the final day of the PGF season 7. We also discuss the team winners and some of the highlights from the entire tournament. We discussed Ryan Aiken and he is overtime victories to clean the $20,000 cash prize. Plus Polish stand out Marcin Maciulewicz, and Paul Ardilla. 

    Recap of Midwest finishers, we talked about both main event titles on the line with Layla Watkins vs Emily Rosalynn ending in an armbar win for Layla Watkins becoming the New 125 pound champion

    In Andrew McGraff vs Lucas Jones for the Mens 155 pound Lightweight title we talked about Andrew's choi bar set up and tarikoplata transition for the finish to take the title. 

    In the preview of the IBJJF Crown we talk about all of the divisions, front runners, including Tainan Dalpra, Eric Munis, Gabrieli Pessanha, Adam Wardzinski, Gustavo Batista, Diego Pato, and Cobrina Jr. 
     
    Main Character BJJ 5 we discuss the women's 135 pound qualifier, the winner of which will take on Mo Black, and the main event superfight Geo Martinez vs Gianni Grippo.

    We preview the entire ADXC 7 stacked card main evented by Rodolfo Viera vs Derek Brunson, with a co-main of Paulo Miyao vs Junior Righetti, plus we talk about Ana Carolina Vieira vs Aurelie Le Vern, Espen Mathiesen vs Lucas Valente in the gi, and Helena Crevar vs Sabrina de Sousa.

    We recapped the finals results for IBJJF No-Gi pans and the most stand out moments and performances including Cole Abate first major Black Belt NoGi win, Elizebeth Clay returning after becoming a mother 17 weeks ago to double gold, Raphael Lovato Jr winning another adult tile at 41 years old.

    This week on the show, Maine and Miranda recap Finishers Night of Champions 2 and AIGA US Qualifier Recaps. 

    In the News section of the show we Mo Jassim stepping down as the ADCC World Champion Coordinator. 

    We also discussed a few of the names that were at the IBJJF No-Gi European Championship. 

    In the recap section of the show we talked about Finishers Night of Champions 2 Title Fights Starting with Cindy Ung vs. Taylor Ellis for the 125 Pound title. We discussed how the open scoring and round structure of the event led to Taylor, really changing her tactics in the later rounds in order to take a decision victory.

    In the recap of Alex Nguyen vs Cathryn Discanni for the 115 pound title, we talk about the leg lock exchanges and the Armbar that Alex Nguyen hit to retain her title. 

    In the main event we talk about the rematch between Pat Shangholi vs Cody Gamble and the false reap entry from the guard that Pat hits for the heel hook to retain his title and avenge his ADCC trials loss. 

    We discuss Checkmat winning the AIGA qualifier and team 10th planet also earning a slot as well.

    #361 Nicky Rod Vs Michael Pixley FPI 8 Recap

    This week on the show, Maine and Corey recap Nick Rodriguez versus Michael Pixley that took place on the Fight Pass Invitational 8 as the main event. We also recap the rest of the card, and recap Pit Submission 8.

    In the news section we talk about Kody Steele on Dana Whites Contender Series and him winning a UFC contract this week.

    In the recap section of the show, we break down all of the main card matchups on the Fight Pass Invitational 8 and talk about the headline main event between Nick Rodriguez, and Michael Pixley.  We discussed Pixley's strategy during the match and the negatives that he received during the match. We talked about how Rodriguez's was able to leverage his speed and wrestling game, to get Pixley down in both the regulation and overtime. In the overtime we broke down the finishing takedown and Rodriguez's passing and back taking finishing with the RNC.

    In the recapo of the Co-Main Event we talk about the rubber match and rematch between Renato Canuto vs PJ Barch.  We discuss Canutos pace vs barch and his flying scissor leg takedown to the heel hook that won him the match.

    In Andy Varela vs Dante Leon we discuss the penalty that Andy received for striking and how Dante was able to counter the blast double to finish as arm in guillotine.

    In Gabriel Sousa vs Josh Cisneros we talked about Cisneros leveraging his game but giving up 2 points in overtime and being unable to come back leading to Sousa winning on points.

    We also discuss Raquel Canuto vs Gabrielle McComb, with Raquel putting on her best preformance in a long time submitting McComb. Plus we recap Isaque Bahiense vs Ronaldo Souza Junior with Souza finishing an interesting anaconda choke in the match.

    In the recap of Pit Submission 8 we talk about the beef between Vagner Rocha and Calon Sabino that ended with Vagner putting on a 3 round clinic over Sabino then capping it off with a Triangle Choke Armbar Combo from the back with 15 seconds left in round 3 to make a statement.

    We also talk about the pace that AJ Agazarm put on vs Piter Frank taking a clean Decision win in their match and showing off more of his wrestling than we have seen in years. 

    We talk about Paulo Miyao vs Pablo Mantovani, and Daniel Sathler vs Matheus Costa that Sathler was able to win with a highlight reel Flying Triangle Armbar off of the pit wall to cap off the recaps.

    This week on the show, Maine and Corey preview Nick Rodriguez versus Michael Pixley taking place on the Fight Pass Invitational 8 we also preview the rest of the card.

    In the Preview section of the show, we break down all of the main card matchups on the Fight Pass Invitational 8 and talk about the headline main event between Nick Rodriguez, and Michael Pixley.  We discussed Pixley's wrestling credentials, and his recent matches at the ADCC World championships. We talk about his long range guard passing and his sub and Darce game.  We also discuss varying methods of victory that Pixley could implement in order to win the match.  In our breakdown of Rodriguez's game, we discuss his recent $1 million championship performance winning the over 80 kg division at the Craig Jones invitational, and how his own wrestling and his ability to hit low singles and wrestle ups, as well as his ability to submit from the back and his recent foray into foot locks may be winning opportunities for him in this match.

    In the preview of the Co-Main Event we talk about the rubber match and rematch between Renato Canuto vs PJ Barch.  We discuss Canutos high flying style, in contrast to the recent performances from PJ, including huge notable wins at ADCC, and his recent heel hook win over Canuto at PGF. 

    In Andy Varela vs Dante Leon we discuss the well-rounded Ness from Dantes game and discuss his recent absolute performance at ADCC, we contrast that to Andy's recent performances and discuss their levels of competition, and how extremely difficult both men are to put away.

    In Gabriel Sousa vs Josh Cisneros we talk about Josh's recent performance is at ADCC and Sousas performances in the same division. And then discuss some of the areas we think both will decide to push the match. 

    We also briefly discuss Raquel Canuto vs Gabrielle McComb, and Isaque Bahiense vs Ronaldo Souza Junior with Souza coming off a recent victory over Kody Steele at the a recent Fight Pass Invitational.

    This week on the show Maine and Zak talk about the most exciting grappling match of all time Kade Ruotolo versus Andrew Tackett that took place in the semifinals of the Craig Jones Invitational 2024 Edition in the under 80 kg division.

    We spend the entire episode breaking down the action moment by moment and talking about all of the interesting sequences that occurred during the match. We discuss the somewhat controversial scoring in some places, talk about the Craig Jones Invitational rule set in general. Plus talk about how we think the pit format and competition arena played into this match being the best showcase of what professional grappling can offer of all time.

    We discussed all of the counter-sequences, takedowns, submission attempts and some of the more interesting technical nuances that we certainly missed live at the arena, and that we were able to catch on rewatch and analysis.

    In the news section of the show, we talk about some of the inside information that we learned during the latest simple Man podcast with Craig Jones, invitational right hand, man and promoter Seth, sharing tons of the details behind the fair fight foundation, setting up the event on three months notice, and dealing with lots of the athletes involved in the event. 

    We also discussed some of the women announced for the IBJJF crown event.

    In the recap section of the show, we go through the biggest upsets and matches in the ocean BJJ Pro event, talking about some of the trials winners, competing in both divisions and breaking down the biggest matches in the under 80 kg division and over 80 kg division that took place on the show we discuss stand out prospect Pawel Jaworski defeating both Espen Mathiesen and Tommy Langakker at the event and Luccas Lira defeating Sebastian Rodriguez via Decision in the finals of +80kg. 

    In the outro section of the show, Maine and Miranda discuss some of the recent coaching they have been doing with their students.

    That ends after a fantastic gogoplata to omoplata to sweep to mount, and a seatbelt to back- fall off belly down armlock for the interm title for Molli. 

    We talk Steve Joachim quick victory over Colin Gironda by Belly down straight ankle lock in the first round. 

    In the recap of Nick Willey vs Frankie Rodriguez we discussed nicks, consistent attacking and passing on top and his 90 to 76 points win. 

    In the preview of Ocean BJJ Pro we discuss the qualifying format and wild card entrance into the event, and all of the invited athletes in the +80 kg division and under 80 kg division.     In the recap section of the show, we break down all of the main card matches on Polaris 29, including some of the controversial scoring in the number of the matches. 

    In Diego Pato Oliveira vs Ashley Williams we talk about the top passing from Pato and in his Decision win over Ash and how it was great to see Ash in the Gi. 

    In Jacob Rodriguez vs Mohammed Avtarhanov we discussed some of the potentially controversial scoring that led to the split decision win for Mo and talk about the 10 point must system versus the straight round system in scoring.  

    In Tainan Dalpra vs Tarik Hopstock we discussed Tainan week of change of opponent, and how Tainan and seemed hell-bent on the Tarikolplata even continuing to go for it after hop stock tapped to the Kimura.

    In Cole Abate vs Sam McNally we talked about how great it was to see Cole again after a long layoff due to injury and how it was nice to see him shake the rust off. 

    In Davis Asare vs George Pearse we talked again about the scoring system at Polaris, and how, although Davis looked good at the beginning, he seemingly completely gassed in the last period of the match, allowing for a phenomenal amount of offense and sub attempts from George late in the match that Davis weathered to win the decision. 

    In Jed Hue vs Julian Espinosa  we talked about Jed, finally being the bigger guy in a match, potentially allowing him to work on some wrestling and stand up in the early part of the match, and then playing a great counter game late in the match to take a decision. 

    We also talk about a few upcoming Keith Krikorian matches this coming week.

We also discussed the catch system used for determining the winner when it goes to judges decision. We discuss some of the tactics that Mikey might use playing from the guard and staying active with his leg attacks in order to score catches, and potentially when a decision.
