    Understanding Buyer Personalities and Styles with Nancy Zare

    On this episode of the Better Presentations More Sales podcast I’m talking to author, speaker, consultant and psychologist Dr Nancy Zare about understanding buyer personalities and styles

    Nancy is known as The Sales Whisperer and is the creator of the Alikeability system and is a past president of the National Speaking Association in New England

    And the author of several books including Compelling Selling

    Whether you are presenting, pitching or having a one-to-one customer or potential customer interaction understanding the personalities and styles of your audience and adapt into will significantly increase your chances of success

    Nancy talks about how she can get a feel for people by just looking at their websites, their social media photographs and their posts

    This is a truly fascinating episode as we explore how understanding buyer personalities and styles can be a huge benefit to someone who is pitching or presenting or undertaking sales interactions

    Nancy’s two top tips for listeners to implement straightaway are:

    Become an active listener, show real interest in your comments

    Use the language of your prospect, use their words when you respond

    6. Surprise and delight those who do buy from you
    7. Remind everyone in your organisation that they are all in sales in some capacity if they have customer interaction
    8. Be proactive – make things happen

    LinkedIn Video as a Sales Tool with Donald Kelly

    On this episode of the Better Presentations More Sales podcast I’m talking LinkedIn video as a sales tool with founder of The Sales Evangelist and host of the The Sales Evangelist Podcast Donald C Kelly

    So are you one of the many people on LinkedIn who are either inactive or have a profile that is out of date or simply aren’t using the platform to grow your business and boost your sales

    Donald shares some great tips and ideas particularly around the use of video on LinkedIn

    Included within that is news that LinkedIn is adding a new button to phone at just to enable users to more easily create video content

    So how can you create video content and what should you use it for?

    Donald suggests videos should be around 20 seconds and the video is a great way of communicating with people on LinkedIn simply because it enables them to get much more of a feel for you as a person and it will help you stand out from everyone else who is still currently using typed messaging

    And when you think about how so many people are still sending emails speculatively that don’t go anywhere so what a difference could happen if you swap sending those emails to send in LinkedIn video messages

    We also briefly talk about sales training and how online, on demand training materials are becoming much more a key part of the training/learning process, particularly for sales teams

    Donald's two tips for listeners to put into action straightaway are:

    Go and update your LinkedIn banner – using Canva if necessary

    And secondly start sharing content, either content you have created yourself or indeed that someone else has already created

    Emotional Connections with your Audience with Chantal Cornelius

    On this episode of the Better Presentations More Sales podcast I’m talking public speaking and in particular emotional connections with your audience with the founder of Appletree Marketing and the current President of the UK based Professional Speaking Association - Chantal Cornelius

    Chantal provides some great insights into how she got into public speaking and how the PSA works and why listeners should consider joining the PSA or its American equivalent the National Speakers Association (NSA) or indeed any of the spacing associations based across the globe. 

    The PSA is all about helping people like you Speak More and Speak Better

    How to make emotional connections with your audience is a specialist area for Chantal who explains that your audience want to feel something from your speaking or presentation or workshop as well as learn something.

    But to help ensure you make the right emotional connections you need to understand your audience and what they have been promised by the organiser in terms of what you are going to share with them.

    Making an emotional connection with your audience involves reading them and making sure you’ve got good eye contact with them.

    We also talk about how you can make that connection when you are delivering something online.

    Public Speaking Competence and Confidence with Peter George

    On this episode of the Better Presentations More Sales podcast I’m talking public speaking competence and confidence with Public Speaker, Public Speaking Coach and author of the award winning book ‘The Captivating Public Speaker’ Peter George 

    Peter provides some great insights into how he got into public speaking and how he helps on a one-to-one basis people with their public speaking competence and confidence

    We talk about helping would-be speakers overcome their anxiety and Peter reminds us that when we are speaking we are there to help people and that is not about us being in the spotlight but it should be the audience who are in the spotlight and that we are not speaking to inform we are speaking to transform

    On the journey to helping listeners with their public speaking competence and confidence Peter also shares 5 top strategies for engaging an audience:

    1. People will judge you before you open your mouth, so when they first see you look them in the eye and stand with confidence, so feet shoulder width apart not leaning on one leg
    2. Start with a question, which could well be a rhetorical one, because that will get the audience thinking about their answer
    3. You can also start with a story, something you are familiar with
    4. Or you could start with a big stat or a quote that is relevant to your subject
    5. And the final one of Peter’s five top strategies for engagement is simply to rehearse, rehearse and rehearse

    In this episode of the Better Presentations More Sales podcast I’m joined by James Ski, CEO and founder of Sales Confidence, who shares great tips and ideas to help you with your sales and presenting confidence

    Having sales and presenting confidence is a key part of being successful and during the episode James talks about the importance of being an effective communicator, the need to have the right mindset and put your best self forward

    • Firstly start smiling more when you are presenting

    20 minute Event Presentation

    In this episode of the Better Presentations More Sales podcast host Trevor Lee shares tips and ideas to help you deliver a cracking 20 minute event presentation

    A 20 minute event presentation could be linked to an in-house conference or some sort of business event

    Either way if you are invited to share your knowledge and expertise you don’t want waste the opportunity so follow these seven steps:

    • Step 1: Find Out - where and when, equipment available, audience, audience expectation and running order
    • Step 2: Sketch It -  what to include, what to leave out and use the 4E’s to remind yourself that your audience want to be engaged, educated, enthused and to a degree entertained
    • Step 3: Jog Through – does it flow?, do you need to change the order of some of your slides? are any of your slides causing Death by PowerPoint?
    • Step 4: Timed Run – stand up, take it seriously, may be record it, note anything that needs amending, check back on the 4Es, and deliver it in 16 to 17 minutes in practice
    • Step 5: Arrive Early – check the setup, meet and greet, get your water ready 
    • Step 6: Be the Best of You – really enjoy your delivery knowing that you have great knowledge and expertise to share
    • Step 7 – Reflection – get some feedback and ask yourself what would you do differently and what would you do better next time

    Converting Demos into Sales

    In this episode of the Better Presentations More Sales host Trevor Lee shares some thoughts and ideas for Converting Demos into Sales including:

    Making it easy to book the demo in the first place using things like Calendly

    Making contact on the phone pre-demo and establishing what the customer is expecting, while I think they want the demo, an outline of their level of investment expectation and who from there end is going to be on the demo

    Create the demo then to suit what you’ve been told and the type of audience you are going to have

    Arrive early and get your virtual demo setup and then when the audience arrives check back as to the reasons they gave you in the pre-call as to what they are expecting from the demo and why they think they need it

    Make sure the demo involves a lot of interaction on their part and use questions like ‘what are you thinking?’ to create some mini commitment opportunities

    And prepare in advance for the three I’s that often become barriers:

    1. Implementation – concerns over that
    2. Investment – will they wobble on that
    3. Inertia – great momentum when they booked the demo but that can easily drift away

    At the end of the demo agree follow-up plan and book in a phone or Zoom call
