BUDDHA BEATS is a monthly DJ mix show, hosted by Philadelphia-burbs-based DJ: The Engineer, head of Daibutsu Music. The show (affectionately called "The Temple") features dance music from around the globe, and around the Internet. Tracks from the top artist, bedroom producers, and new offerings by The Engineer himself. Get your sneakers/tennis shoes on, and prepare to enter The Temple!
I have been a raver since 1992, and have been to lots of events over the years. My hope with these mixes is that I can somehow teleport you ā my listeners ā mentally to the spaces that these kinds of events went down in. Illegal āOutlawā parties, full-blown armory/convention hall sized raves, super sweat-soaked club nights, all where you danced yourself into happiness. The DJs at those events brought their āA Gameā, and everyone left at the end having made new friends, and sore legs walking out.
I have stories upon stories of nights like this.
This monthās mix reaches back yet again to encapsulate the feeling of these massive warehouse raves from the 1990s, as well as just providing sick tunes to dance to if thereās no nightclubs or DJ nights near you. I hope these mixes provide you with the motivation to push the tables back, roll up the carpet, and get your groove on. Ā Iāve included a track that Iāve written at the end called āFLOORFILLERā, that has done just what the title says most times Iāve played it.
Something else to know about the show: All of these episodes are hand mixed by me (and the guests do theirs by hand too), and none of the mixes are repeated. Not a one. I hand pick the tracks that really speak to me from sources across the internet. Beatport, Bandcamp, Traxsource, Juno Download, Apple Music, Soundcloud, and others, as well as from my vinyl, cassette, and CD collections. The order in which they end up in the mix, that happens at the decks.
Ā
I really hope you enjoy this mix. If you check out the video mix for this episode, youāll get a sneak peek at some merch that will be available for you at the party on October 26th.

This mix was inspired by the DJs I got to see this past weekend (April 20th) in Los Angeles. They really had the floor eating out of the palm of their hands. It had me thinking the whole way back to my hotel, and again on the way back to Philly. So, I when I got behind my own decks, I immediately started recording. This mix is a result of just going for it. There are four of my own tracks in here, and are surrounded by some sweet tracks.
Please share this mix with your friends. Enjoy!

Episode 89 is a 90 minute, blistering ride through the heavier and harder facets of the techno genre. When I made this, my head was clear, I had had enough sleep, and I was excited to do my absolute best. I honestly feel that this is one of my best mixes thus far. Mainly, because I took the time to get it right. Not like I didnāt for the others Iāve done, but I am extremely proud of this one. I hope youāll agree!
