Welcome to California Real Estate Finance. This is one of the twelve courses that students can use to meet the third course requirement for a California State Salesperson's License. Additionally, the course helps students prepare for further studies in real estate. This course covers real estate financing: lending policies, and problems; financing transactions in residential, apartment, commercial, and special purpose properties; and methods of financing properties. This course applies towards educational requirements for both a salesperson's or broker's examination.

Also, the Savings and Loan problems of the 1980’s that led up to the Financial Institutions Reform, Recovery and Enforcement Act (FIRREA) were discussed.

Indirect Lenders such as Pension Funds, Insurance Companies, Mortgage Brokers, and Mortgage Bankers/Mortgage Companies were covered. Also, Real Estate Investment Trusts and the role of Private Individual as lenders and investors were discussed. Finally, the use of the internet to obtain loans and other financial web sites were demonstrated and discussed in detail.

The "Good Faith Estimate of Closing Costs Statement" was discussed in detail including the handbook that explains what each line item in the statement means. Also, there was a demonstration on online Annual Percentage (APR) Calculators. Finally, there was a demonstration of the FHA web site that covered the different types of FHA loan programs.
