Eating gluten free and trying to lose weight or just manage weight is a challenge. Sue Jennett, and her co-hosts are all on different weight loss/management journeys with one thing in common - they are all committed to a gluten free diet. Join the conversation weekly to catch up with the successes and challenges faced by each of the co-hosts taking a different path to control their weight.
This week I speak with Tamie and Aaron. Tamie fills us in on how the macros diet is working for her, what she's counting and the difficulty she finds keeping everything in line. Aaron and I look back to the preparation classes we did prior to bariatric surgery and some of the life-changing restrictions we were told we'd have to adhere to after surgery. Looking back you realize that some things that were a big deal for you maybe weren't for someone else and vice versa.

This week I speak with Melissa to discuss her choice of alternate day fasting and how she can change it up to meet the needs of her day. Sometimes, it's just not convenient to not eat, so Melissa has a strategy for that. As well she has some advice to get the most out of both your fast and feed days.

This week I speak with Tamie and Aaron. Tamie is doing her best to take the suggestions of her nutrition coach when it comes to choosing an exercise program, but as the weather gets warmer, she is being drawn outside and looking foward to running again. Aaron and I have a very frank discussion about the preparations and changes you must be prepared to make in your life when you sign up for bariatric surgery. This week we talk about smoking. There are other considerations and we'll continue our conversation in our next chat.

This week I take a deep dive with Melissa into her alternate day fasting lifestyle. This approach to fasting may seem extreme to you, but after listening to Melissa explain how she makes the regime work for her, you may see it as something more do-able. I also include a question from a listener. If you have a question for any of my co-hosts, please email me at [email protected].

This week I speak with Tamie and Aaron. We follow Tamie as she tries to learn more about the macros program and how protein has become such an important factor in her food choices. Aaron is trying to fit exercise into his very busy schedule and has developed a creative way to stay on track. They both have beef jerky on their daily menus - oddly enough.

This week marks the return of the podcast after my knee surgery. This episode was recorded prior to November 1st with Aaron and has been a long time in progress to this point. My conversation with Aaron centres around how his "new" combined family is dealing with his requirement to eat a gluten free diet. Lots of different personalities, and for the most part, all with good intentions, but getting to the point where Aaron feels the family knows enough to keep him safe is a journey.

This week I check in with Tamie who seems to be back on track with her macros eating program. We speak about meals that fit into her program and how she is trying to make substitutions for some of her old stand-bys that were suitable when she was following a weight watchers diet, but don't fit into her macros program. The weather is getting colder and Tamie is getting ready to stay home more, but still eat healthy.

This week's conversation with Aaron centres around how his newly blended family is handling the gluten free diet. Aaron's is a large and busy household with with lots of different interests and activities. Aaron uses the analogy of having to juggle balls, some are rubber and will bounce if they drop, others are glass and can't afford to be dropped. He explains how the gluten free diet fits into this perspective. We offer lots of suggestions for keeping his food and the family kitchen safe.
