The HealthForce podcast was launched in order to give the audience a unique and factual approach to health and fitness, utilizing the latest science and research.
Meal plans serve as a "non thinking" way for clients to achieve fitness success. But do some of the drawbacks detract from the overall prospect of success?
In this episode, we explore the rigidness of a meal plan and what may serve as a better tool for clients to achieve fitness success.
Vince is someone whom I consider a friend. He recently started up Case Specific Meal Prep (https://www.csmppgh.com/) and I was happy to get a chance to sit down with him and have a chat about it.Â
I know this opportunity has filled a void for Vince. He is extremely passionate about this business and my hope is that this conversation further helps the audience understand the immense value of a meal prep service. I do honestly think, meal prep delivery services will give grocery stores a battle for market share over food in the coming years.Â
Children going back to in person schooling, is becoming a reality for a lot of families across the United States. Setting the politics of "if they should, if they shouldn't" aside, what can families do to best insure their children have healthy immune systems?Â
This topic I find highly valuable not only during the COVID era, but should extend to all times. The family units across the United States are largely lacking leadership when it comes to fitness. The parents do not value fitness, therefore most children do not learn to value fitness. With childhood obesity and Type II Diabetes on the rise, it is time to step up and change this cultural error.Â
As I have been suggesting, Fitness is the closest thing to the fountain of youth that we currently have. What is the reason most US Adults do not truly prioritize fitness in their life?Â
Type 2 Diabetes can be controlled, treated, and combated with exercise, nutrition, and lifestyle change. In this episode, we dig into the science on what type 2 diabetes actually is, and what happens when adults gain weight.Â
A popular type of social media post I have seen is around deciding and selecting alcoholic beverages that keep in mind fitness or diets. While useful, I wanted to dig a little deeper than just an infographic. In this episode, we explore the impact of different alcohol options as well as strategies to minimize damage to your fitness goals.Â
I also firmly believe telling clients or individuals to just "stop drinking alcohol" is a very poor and impractical bit of advice. It is much more productive to help people with their weekend habits than trying to convince them to stay at home and be anti-social.Â
Wanted to do a quick episode about some of the other content we are creating on Facebook. We wanted to test out doing some FB Live and utilize it as an opportunity to do storytelling. Decided to have a fun episode. Found a link for 14 common fitness questions, and I gave my straight ahead truthful answers to each. This episode is one big wallop of value to the face. Great practical advice contained within.
With the COVID lockdowns in place, I felt it would be helpful to talk about speed training. This episode will not exclusively be for high school athletes. There will be plenty of applications for those who want to improve their golf game or pick up basketball skills.Â
There has been a huge misconception about the proper way to increase athletic speed. We handle this misconception and clear up the confusion.
One thing that has become increasingly clear about the COVID19 outbreak, is that it most severely affects those who are older and/or have other health constraints. Age is one of them, but that is not in our control. One major factor that is in our control however, is our fitness. COVID is having a larger effect on obese individuals according to the data that we have.Â
Unfortunately, we take our health for granted. It takes a catastrophic event in order to wake us up and to get serious about fitness. This is pathetic and should not be required in order for us to care about fitness. Working out & eating well are such simple concepts, but they require time, effort, money, and prioritization.Â
In this episode we discuss how most people continue to buy food from a grocery store and how changes to this may be on the horizon. When you look at fitness, it is tough as it is. Anything that brings extra value or makes something easier will be tremendously valuable.Â
A proper meal prep delivery service can simplify the nutrition aspect of fitness. Who wouldn't want fresh chef quality meals delivered directly to their door? This upcoming trend may be worth jumping on.Â
Hard hitting episode here! The COVID lockdown has allowed me to reflect a lot on our current society and the health crises we face. Coronavirus is but of one. There are more prevalent and long lasting threats to our health including the ever astronomical US Adult Obesity Rate.
According to the a Feb 2020 report from the CDC, the US Adult Obesity rate is 42.4%. We need to get serious now about tackling this issue. For a lot of individuals weight gain and the path to obesity is a creeping process. It happens slowly over time, which is what makes it insidious. It is my hope, I am able to convince others to make some lifestyle habit changes and I wanted to provided some insight on how to do exactly that.Â
