SB Nation's Bud Elliott breaks down college football recruiting with other expert guests.
Morgan Moriarty and Bud Elliott return with another episode of The SB Nation College Football Recruiting Podcast. With just two weeks until National Signing Day, here are the storylines we are discussing on the show. Who will get the No. 1 class? Who will land a top-5 class? Is it just Georgia and Ohio State for the top spot? Which players could lock up the crown for those respective powers? And what about Alabama? Can Texas keep the No. 3 class and stop Alabama, Penn State, and Miami? Where will the top players sign? Patrick Surtain, Tyson Campbell, Devon Williams, Nicholas Petit-Frere, Isaac Taylor-Stuart, and Olaijah Griffin are discussed. What are the loaded positions this year? Lacking? On the plus size, we have QB, CB, and guard. On the flip side, defensive tackle and running back are lacking this season.

Bud Elliott and Morgan Moriarty discuss what they learned in the first ever college football recruiting Early Signing Period. -Georgia signed an absolutely ridiculous class, and the hosts break it down. How they did it, and what it means. -Clemson might have the best pound-for-pound class in the country, it’s simply limited by class size. -Texas’ defensive back class is totally awesome. The Longhorns signed five of the top-16 DBs in the nation. And how it is a perfect fit it is. -The Early Signing Period crushed teams with coaching changes compared to their traditional recruiting level due to the lack of time available to establish relationships. How did teams approach it? Which teams did the best? Should Florida fans celebrate? Should FSU fans panic? -There is a distinct lack of available backup plans because mid- and lower-level programs did a tremendous job to lock down their classes. Minnesota, Virginia Tech, Kansas and Illinois are discussed. How will this change going forward? -Some of the top sleepers who would normally be poached by bigger schools, who signed with smaller programs. -Should Ohio State fans be disappointed? Perhaps by the finish, but Morgan and Bud share some underrated players in the Buckeye’s class. -What to make of the negative recruiting allegedly done by Clemson against Ohio State? How does Negative recruiting even work? -And USC landed the top 2019 QB recruit, and got him to reclassify into the class of 2018.Â

Tennessee’s class is falling apart. How would Chip Kelly do at UF? -What team would you least want to play in the playoff? -Notable visits this weekend: Louisville is hosting Alontae Taylor (recent Tennessee decommit) and WR Jatavious Harris ... Ohio State is hosting QB Jarren Williams and DT Tyler Friday ... Notre Dame hosting LB Payton Wilson (UNC commit), Penn State hosting DE Jayson Oweh and WR Solomon Enis ...
