During the first hour of Jones and Keefe the guys discuss the hiring of Josh McDaniels and how it can lead to more wins in year two of Drake Maye. Jones does not really like the Josh McDaniels hire. Drake Maye is already the second best QB he has ever had. Keefe goes through each year of McDaniels career, including the Tom Brady years. How can he get the most out of Drake Maye? Callers do not like the hire. The idea of not overwhelming Drake Maye is appealing. He now has someone he can rely on and be comfortable with. Alex Van Pelt was not really an OC, McDaniels is. We are more optimistic about the offense today than we have been in a while. How much credit does he get for Brady’s best years? Not much, but Keefe says that there is some credit to give.

During the second hour of Jones and Keefe the guys discuss offseason grades for the Patriots. Keefe is generous and gives them a B-, but Jones thinks C is more accurate so far. They have to make some additions in free agency! Then, Billy asks three would you rather questions which begins a discussion about MLB HOF ballots and snow vs rain. Finally, a Ska conversation.

During the third hour of Jones and Keefe the guys discuss the Celtics and their failure to meet expectations with Justin Turpin then back to the McDaniels discussion. Who made the hire? Was Tommy Reiss Vrabel’s number one choice? Where did McCown and Chip Kelly fall on the list? It is a much more appealing job this season. There is something to be said about swinging and missing with Mayo, then hiring Vrabel, a guy who can actually coach at the NFL level. Do the Patriots need to hit some singles before swinging for the fences?
