A podcast for Duke basketball fans!
It’s time. The big game is upon us and we preview Duke’s matchup with North Carolina on Episode 689!
UNC has struggled this season against a loaded schedule, one of the best of the country. Donald and Jason get into who UNC has played and how they’ve struggled in very close games. They then break down the offense and defense, going deep to tell you about what makes UNC successful and where Duke could have an advantage. They have some players that are dangerous, but they’ve struggled this year with the combinations on the court and that has created inconsistency. We then get into the things to watch, including who matches up with Cooper Flagg, rebounding, and embracing the huge moment that this rivalry provides.
After the break, Duke Football got their 2025 schedule, and it’s an interesting one! We discuss the schedule quickly to tell you which games to circle and how Duke could be set up for a decent run if they can make it through a couple of barriers.

It is Carolina week and the Duke Basketball Roundup is going to have multiple previews of the big game against UNC. Up first, the guys welcome in Brendan Marks of The Athletic. It is his job to watch Duke and UNC all year long and he has plenty of thoughts about the troublesome year so far in Chapel Hill. Brendan looks into the failed roster construction that has made it really hard for UNC to win games unless they really turn up the tempo.
And he also has thoughts about Duke... How impressed is he with Cooper Flagg and who does he think is Duke's secret go-to weapon in big games?
Lastly, Jason and Donald ask him about the ACC and you may be surprised at which teams he thinks have a chance to make the NCAA tourney and which ones just don't have the horses to get there.

If you already digested the instant reaction pod released Monday night by the Duke Basketball Roundup team, then this is your next stop as the guys break down an unexpectedly tough battle with the NC State Wolfpack. Jason and Donald's deep dive include everything from Cooper Flafgg's second half dominance to the ways Duke's zone held State in check to why Duke didn't shoot many threes and even what is going on with the suddenly shortened Duke bench.
If you are not already a subscriber to the DBR podcast, now is the time to sign up on whatever podcast platform you use because you won't want to miss a single second of what the guys have in store for you this week. With State in the rear view mirror it is Carolina week and there will be plenty of episodes giving you all you need to be 100% ready for the big matchup with our biggest rival.

What was that game?! Donald and Jason hop on almost immediately after Duke beat NC State to discuss all the ancillary weirdness that attached itself to this game.
From the weird (Khaman Maluach losing his lunch) to the wild (Tyrese Proctor being saved from falling out of bounds by Kon Knueppel holding his leg down) to the downright scary (a fan passing out in the stands), we decided to jump on for a few minutes to talk about those things.
The actual basketball game action will be recapped on Tuesday, so submit your headlines to our email (DBR Podcast at Gmail dot com). But this is 15 minutes of recapping the weird non-basketball moments of this game. Somehow, Duke is still unbeaten in the ACC, but we’re left not knowing how quite to fully process this win.

Fresh off the Blue Devil's win on the road at Wake, the team is back in Cameron for another in-state rival, the NC State Wolfpack. We all remember what State did to Duke in March last season, but this is a very different club with several new faces and almost everyone in new roles. The Duke Basketball Roundup crew is here with a look at how State's season has gone so far including a deep dive into what is working for them on offense (holding onto the ball and not committing turnovers) and defense (forcing teams to make decisions late in the shot clock). Duke figures to be a big favorite in this contest, but as Wake Forest showed all of us, rivalry games have a way of fooling all the expert predictions.

The Duke Blue Devils toughed out a 63-56 win over Wake Forest on Saturday afternoon, and we recap the win on Episode 686.
Donald and Jason begin with the headlines after a tough win and start by commending Duke for their resilience in coming back after Wake stormed to take the lead. They center a lot of the kudos around two bench players: Mason Gillis and Patrick Ngongba. Both players had tremendous efforts and were two of the main reasons why Duke remains undefeated in the ACC. We focus on the rest of the good, from rebounding to Cooper Flagg down the stretch.
After the break, we get into the things that need to improve from this game, starting with turnovers and eliminating the overall sloppiness. That led to some of Wake’s ability to bounce back and take a lead midway through the second half. There was also physical play and we discuss all of the nuances behind how Wake was able to use physicality to their advantage. We close out with our play of the game as well as our Player of the Week.
Also, look alive! We will be back in your feed very soon to preview the NC State game, which is on Monday night.

If you have ever listened to one of Jon Scheyer's press conferences you know there is a voice that always asks the first question. That voice belongs to Raleigh News and Observer sportswriter Steve Wiseman, who has covered Duke athletics for close to 15 years. Steve sat down with Jason and Donald on the DBR Podcast this week to give us an assessment of the team and the ACC thus far.
Among the questions he answers --
How does Cooper Flagg compare to other great Duke freshmen? When does Maliq Brown come back and how vulnerable is Duke with him out? What are Duke's chance of running the table in the ACC? And which ACC coaches are on the hot seat due to disappointing seasons?

The Duke Blue Devils have a big game this Saturday when they take the road to face the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. We preview the game on DBR Bites Episode 84.
Wake Forest is one of the top teams in the ACC right now and coming off a home win against UNC. They’ve defended their home court, going 10-0 so far this season. They put that record up against a Duke team that’s currently undefeated in conference play. Donald and Jason discuss the upcoming game, going through what Wake does well and where Duke could have an advantage. They take you through the Wake Forest roster and discuss what some of the key things to watch will be.

Did you ever wonder how the official scorer only had your favorite Duke player for 1 steal when you swear he stole the ball 3 times? What about blocked shots? Khaman had to have 4 last game but the official boxscore only shows him with 2. Well, all your scoring questions are answered on the latest edition of the DBR Podcast because the pod welcomes Joe Jasper as a guest. Joe has been the official scorer for Duke basketball for more than 2 decades. This interview gets into all the little details about how the scoring process works and how it has changed over the years. Joe also gives us his take on this year's Duke team -- after all, he has watched hundreds of Duke games up close over the years. Does he think something special is brewing in Cameron this year?

The Devils may have started out slow, but they ended up dispatching a badly outmatched BC team with ease to win their 5th road game on the season against zero road losses. The Duke Basketball Roundup was in Boston (in the person of longtime collaborator Sam Klein) to witness the closest thing to a homecoming that Cooper Flagg is gonna get this season. Is it somehow possible that the Blue Devils played a bad game and still won by 25 points?
Oh, and the episode includes a couple shoutouts to beloved former Dukie Jaylen Blakes, who stuck a dagger in UNC's heart and twisted it with his buzzer beater. The Crazies better give him plenty of love when he returns to Cameron in a few weeks.

Duke takes every opponent seriously and so the Duke Basketball Roundup Podcast does too. Still, it is hard to find much that is very good to say about Boston College, the worst team in the ACC according to KenPom. In the DBR Pod preview, Jason and Donald look at how the BC program has fallen on hard times and what the current players are doing well (and poorly) as they try to get the program back to what it once was.
