Cowboy Carter Party Update, Andrew Scott’s Erotic Audio & Bridgerton S3

It would seem we’ve hit a teensy hurdle in the planning for Michael’s Hip Hoorah Disco Cowboy themed party, he’s got the Orville Peck inspired pink cowboy outfit, but as he’s seeing out his crusty old hip, Michael’s keen to wear a comfortable sneaker and forgo a cowboy boot. Em is having none of it, offering up a variety of alternative options, including some that don’t actually exist, while Michael tries to use said hip as an excuse for a lifetime of shonky dancing. Then it’s onto the news that Fleabag and All Of Us Strangers hottie Andrew Scott is about to gift us erotic audio called ‘The Queen’s Guard’. After watching the teaser trailer, Em challenges Michael to take the script and give us his own version of erotic audio. Em then makes a number of character choices and delivers us versions of the same erotic script as Effie and a Southern Belle, with added options for her hubby Scott and Idris Elba too. Finally we need to talk through the new season of ‘Bridgerton’, season three drops this week and Em gets her eldest daughter Chella to bring us up to speed on what’s coming and why we’re so excited. Also in our Sealed Section, it’s all about Elizabeth Hurley and her son Damian, as Em and Michael ‘Okay, Stop!’ the trailer for their debut film together ‘Strictly Confidential’. Sign up now to start listening & watching at emsolation.supercast.com.

Michael’s Hip Replacement Party, The Idea of You & Madonna in Rio

Yaas, Em’s new podcast ‘Anomalous with Em Rusciano’ is out and it’s being received exactly as Em hoped it would be, with much accolades, appreciation and divine voice notes and reviews. Michael is due to have hip replacement surgery soon, so to see out his crusty old hip joints, he’s throwing himself a blow out dance party/celebration with the theme ‘Disco Cowboy’. Naturally Em has already been invited, and within hours of receiving said invite had sourced and ordered her entire themed outfit for the night too, so there’s much to discuss. Then it’s onto Em and Michael’s review of the new Anne Hathaway film ‘The Idea Of You’ which hasn’t really lived up to the expectations that the teaser trailer gave them. Finally, Madonna has wrapped up her world tour by performing to 1.6 million people in Rio and Em and Michael are feeling all of the feels having not been there to witness it. There's what was happening while they watched dodgy feeds of the show to cover off, a full rundown of all of their favourite parts, and even a discussion about HR and how Madonna and her dancers navigate all of the snogging and crotch and breast grabbing they are required to do. So pop a hip to the joyous strains of Em and Michael talking party costume prep, lacklustre romcoms and Mother serving it to the masses on stage, huzzah!!

Baby Reindeer, Sullivan’s Crossing & Gilmore Girls

It’s a return to our favourite combo, another mother daughter episode as Em’s eldest Marchella steps in for Michael Lucas. We begin with Chella disowning her own father’s last name and an explain on why she has a deeper voice than Em. Then Em reveals she gave in and watched the entire series of ‘Baby Reindeer’ and she is NOT OKAY! After being told in our previous episode by Michael and Chella to avoid it at all costs, Em decided they’re not the boss of her, dove right in and then promptly nearly drowned in all of the things.

(TRIGGER WARNING - Discussion of sexual assault, stalking & abuse) Inside you’ll get a full breakdown on what to expect, why you should probably avoid it and also a bunch of spoilers, if you’d prefer to skip ahead, then you need to jump from 9.43 to 20.35 to escape any reveals.

We follow that with the palate cleanser of Em and Chella’s latest obsession ‘Sullivan’s Crossing’, from playing ‘Okay, Stop!’ with the show’s trailer, to giving us a full exposé on why it's terrible, but also essential viewing. Em even gets Chella to reveal why she watches ‘Gilmore Girls’ on repeat and play a clip from a birthday cameo she got from Scott Patterson, aka Luke Danes, as well.

Also in our Sealed Section, Em has become addicted to a particular Fleetwood Mac song and its accompanying live performance, plus Disney is releasing a Mufasa origin story and Em has a LOT to say about it. Sign up now to start listening & watching at emsolation.supercast.com.

Rebel’s Royal Orgy, Baby Reindeer & Taylor’s Tortured Poets Department

Your commitment to a theme dress for Em’s ‘Outgrown’ tour, and a round of singing old school TV themes gets us underway this week. Then there’s Royal orgy news from Rebel Wilson, which gets interrupted with side-quests into Em’s mum Jenni and her latest spending spree involving a giant tree, a crane and her iPad, plus bat tennis and an ‘It’s A Knockout’ rejection, before Em loses interest. We then delve into the TV series everyone is telling Em to watch, but she also probably needs to avoid, called ‘Baby Reindeer’. Michael and Chella have thoughts but will Em ever really commit to even watching the show. After that we need to move onto the fact that Taylor Swift dropped ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ last Friday, surprising everyone with a double album drop. Will Michael drop some truth bombs, is Em willing to say what she really thinks, and will we have enough time to side-quest into David Beckham doing the utmost to serve us quality content from Victoria’s 50th birthday? The answer to all of that is a resounding YES! Also in our Sealed Section, we’ll get our inhouse Swiftie and cameraman James to share his thoughts, plus professional Swiftie and Emsolator Kassy joins us on the phone and we’ve collected reactions from other Emsolation Swifties too. Em’s New Show, Taylor & Travis At Coachella & Jenni’s Jury Duty Update

We begin by revisiting Em and Michael’s teenage hotmail addresses, their lack of flirting skills and how much they were actual virgins in their early days. We even get a bonus retelling of Em’s fave story about Michael’s most tragic love rejection. Then Em gets Michael to give us an update on his Mum’s journey into herbal remedies, which turns out to be a little bit of a letdown. We also get a full rundown of Em’s upcoming tour ‘Outgrown’, once Michael works out the most flawless way to introduce it. That’s followed by the news that the first weekend of Coachella has happened and there’s much to reflect, from Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift cutting a rug while surrounded by security, to Doja Cat’s mind blowing stage performance with all the extra hair. Finally we get Em’s mum on the phone so that Jenni can give us a full rundown of her failed attempt to be added to someone’s jury and dish out some just punishment that doesn’t involve spell books and office bin fires, bless.

    Leave JoJo Siwa Alone!

To get things happening this week, Michael gets the intro right, then there’s updates from Mum land, with news that Em’s Mum could end up being a juror on a court case and Michael’s Mum is ready to start her journey into the wonderful world of medicinal herbal drops for the aches and pains in her skeleton. After that Em is campaigning for everyone to leave JoJo Siwa alone, first though she’ll have to introduce JoJo to Michael, and anyone else who’s not across her background and history. Once we’re all onboard with that info, then Em and Michael will play ‘Okay, Stop!’ with the video for her new song ‘Karma’ that’s launching her adult pop music career. Finally, we got a letter via Emsolation Extra’s Ask Me Anything during the week from Emsolator Bianca, it was FULL of red flags. So, Em is giving up her seat so her eldest daughter Marchella can be on camera while Em reads the letter to her and Michael, so you’ll get ALL of their facial expressions throughout. To hear what they actually think though, you’ll need to listen to our Sealed Section on our premium service Emsolation Extra, where they’ll also talk about the upcoming John Peter Farnham memoir and Em’s discovery of a Beyoncé tribute magazine at the supermarket. In Conversation with Lizzy Hoo

Em befriended Lizzy Hoo a year ago while working at The Melbourne Comedy Festival’s Great Debate. As you’ll hear inside, it's been a while since they acted on their new found friendship, but at least when they eventually did, they invited us to be there to listen in, HUZZAH! Lizzy is a writer, equal parts noodle and pie enthusiast, designer, actor, sport enthusiast and a stand up comedian who recently hosted the Melbourne Comedy Festival Gala, which is now streaming on ABC iView. Inside she’ll reveal how she and Em first met, why she did the pivot from her day job working as an account manager in marketing to becoming a full time stand up comedian. There’s also her “successful” stint doing poetry recitals at Eisteddfods, her YouTube famous brother, her father being a lot like Em’s Dad Vincie and her journey to a career in stand up. It’s a delightfully funny ride that you’ll thoroughly enjoy.

Elio’s Easter, Beyonce’s Country Carter, Lindsay Lohan’s Irish Wish

We start with the fact Em has a cold sore, but we’re not actually allowed to acknowledge it, or look at it, we also have issues with the use of the word ‘awareness’ instead of ‘acceptance’ in the labelling of ‘Autism Awareness Day’. There’s a negative Airbnb review to reflect, then we get into Elio’s Easter origin and Easter bunny questions, and his issues with his Easter Egg Hunt, plus Michael reveals his Mum’s bleak easter traditions too. After that we get the full debrief on how Em, Michael and Marchella approached their consuming of ‘Renaissance: Part II” with ‘Cowboy Carter’ from Beyoncé. Naturally that also means they’ll talk through their favourite tracks, make hot tips on what’s next touring wise, favourite cameos, country music facts and how the CMA’s will deal with it all come award season again. Finally, there’s the latest romantic comedy for Netflix from Lindsay Lohan called ‘Irish Wish’ for them to review. It appears that no actual Irish people were harmed, or even featured in the movie, but it does come with a mystical Wish Bish and a lot of other whack features you’re sure to enjoy. Then in our Sealed Section, on our premium service Emsolation Extra, Em, Michael and Marchella do a full track by track review of Beyoncé’s ‘Cowboy Carter’ from beginning to end, although their interest wanes near the end, because...27 tracks to cover off.Sign up now to start listening at emsolation.supercast.com.

    Kate, Carlos and Cowboy Carter

We open with the news Kate Middleton is having treatment for cancer and how Em was right in her assumptions that we shouldn’t be speculating about BBL’s and the like. Especially when a woman is undergoing a medical treatment that we don’t have all the information on. Sending WTF thoughts to the Palace PR team and speculating on Kate’s marriage to Prince William though, still falls into an open season situation. Then we pivot into an update on Em and Vincie’s Friday inside the Mercedes AMG tent at the F1 Grand Prix, with a side quest into female F1 drivers and why Vincie doesn’t trust optometrists anymore. Em and her daughters went to a family friend's 21st birthday where they witnessed some truly awful DJ work, which inspired Michael to reveal he’s wrapped on Season 3 of ‘The Newsreader’ and spent the weekend DJ-ing the wrap up party too. Then it’s back to Sunday at the F1, with a side of airport lounge downgrades thrown in. Finally, Beyoncé is due to drop her country music album this weekend, which side quests on Em’s rogue Instagram posts, Emsolators commentating on Beyoncé’s singing ability, and more sing-ger, vocalist, entertainers and singers chat too. Plus, in our Sealed Section, on our premium service Emsolation Extra, Em and Michael talk about Rebel Wilson naming Sasha Baron Cohen as the celeb trying to stop her publishing her memoir, something that REALLY connected with Em. Michael Gets Epically Rear Ended

It’s the SMS that brought much delight to Em, Michael got rear ended by a truck on his way to work, and sent an “I’ve been epically rear ended” message to alert Em to that fact. You’ll hear all about it as we start the pod, with a side quest on Beyoncé being a capitalist by name dropping brands in her songs. Then it’s onto Em’s newest obsession, Guy Richie’s new Netflix TV series ‘The Gentlemen’, which is light years better than the bad accents we get in his original movie version of ‘The Gentlemen’. Somehow that spins off into Em regaling us with all the saucy hookups she witnessed happening between the gay men at her local swimming pool, with added recollections from Michael. There’s the upcoming Anne Hathaway movie ‘The Idea Of You’ to get excited about, plus props for Emma Thompson’s ‘Good Luck To You, Leo Grande’. We also get mental side quests on sing-gers and Kylie and Madonna on stage together and separating an artist's problematic history from their art. Then in the Sealed Section, on our premium service Emsolation Extra, Em and Michael update their thoughts and feels on the Kate Middleton situation, talk Oprah’s upcoming weight loss doco and there’s even more F1 frothing to deliver. This week Michael Lucas is away filming his final scenes for Season 3 of his multi-award winning TV series ‘The Newsreader’, so stepping in to replace him is Em’s eldest daughter Marchella. Together they’ll talk through their fave moments from the 2024 Oscar Awards, covering everything from Jimmy Kimmel’s monologue to John Cena’s guttering, Ryan Gosling’s ‘I’m Just Ken’ performance, plus Jonathan Glazer’s speech, Emma Stone, Ariana Grande, Al Pacino, Mark Ruffalo, Lily Gladstone and a bunch of other stuff too. Then it’s onto Em’s night out at a local Drag Show with her daughters, where Odie managed to bring all the chaos on stage, while the audience around them offered up some very unique chaos of their own. Finally we need to revisit Em's emotional support musical ‘Wicked’. On the weekend Em and Chella attended the show AGAIN and they have a bunch of very specific feedback for the audience, as well as mad props for the amazing cast. We also get a taster of today’s Sealed Section from our premium service Emsolation Extra.
