Never has Delicious in Dungeon felt more like two episodes stuck together into one, but we suppose starting your second half in a dream and going full Inception will do that sort of thing to you.

Izutsumi may not have needed to threaten Marcille, but thankfully the party goes easy on her. She’s given Laios hope for Falin, and in exchange they’ve given her a place in the party—and a lesson in spoon holding!

All of the pain and bloodletting is done for the moment, so let’s just have a fun episode about shapeshifters trying to infiltrate and eat the party. Doesn’t it feel great to relax?

Well, we definitely felt that big fight. First harpies then adventurers dying left and right though, and all anyone can talk about are Falin’s huge–

Ahem. At least this world has healing magic. And at least Laios was able to defend Marcille from Shuro when she wasn’t willing to defend herself. At least he came around, after he got beaten in a fist fight by a guy who’s been practicing self-care.

Shuro has finally reunited with his old party, and oh boy is Kabru savoring the drama. Chilchuck, we’re disappointed in you: how could you possibly think Laios was better able to handle himself in a social encounter than Senshi?

But this is just a setup for episode seventeen. We’ve seen what’s become of Falin, and there’s a big fight feel in the air.

Do you think the events of Over the Garden Wall “really” happened? Do you think it matters? Whether it happened or not Wirt really benefited from the journey, gaining a lot of character growth. Also somehow Jason Funderburker the frog got something in his stomach to glow.

You know what we’ve needed? A funny episode. Well, this episode has jokes for days, and they land. Do you want to see all of the disapproving faces Marcille is capable of making? Well so do we, and this episode delivers!

That’s not to say it’s all fun and games. Laios is learning magic now, and even his mana sickness is funny. It’s enough to make you afraid for what’s coming, isn’t it?

Marcille may have brought a bit of darkness, but even considering the time spent on skeleton assembly this was overall a happy episode. Wait a minute, we’re only halfway through the season. You’re not planning on hurting us emotionally, are you Delicious in Dungeon?

The dragon is down and questions abound! Why was it so active? Can Falin be revived? Who among the party was the biggest hero in that fight? It was definitely an epic struggle against a powerful foe.
