Talking Motorcycles with 2017 Iron Butt Rally winner Jim Owen
In Part II of our series encouraging people to leave town and go touring on our motorcycle, we invited the best long distance tourer in America. 1000 mile days are likely not your goal. A 250 mile day can be perfect with a little planning. Jim Owen just completed the 2017 Iron Butt Rally with his second win. This is an amazing acomplishment. anyone who has ever had a 1,000 mile day knows what a challenge it can be. When you are required to string 11 days of 1,000 per day together to win the IBR it requires drastic measures that are each very well planned. Jim takes a systematic approach to the Iron Butt.  We take his systematic approach and break it down to help us all learn how to truly enjoy motorcycle touring solo or two up. The information from last weeks show in Part I with Carl Reese, Deana Mastracci and Norm Nelson combined with the valuable information we get from Jim Owen may produced the most comprehensive guide to fun touring ever.  Thank you for listening to this episode of Talking Motorcycles with Barry Boone Special thanks to Clearwater Lights, Bell Powersports, TrueToyotaParts.com, Bruce Rossmeyers Daytona Harley Davidson, Sweet Marlays' Coffee and Bakery and Dunlop Motorcycle Tires.

Talking Motorcycle Touring with Carl Reese/Norm Nelson/Deena Mastracci
World record holder and long distance motorcycle rider Carl Reese calls in from a corn field in Nebraska while on tour with Deena Mastracci! He gives us special insight about how he prepares for long distance touring and what he does when he is on the road. Where to stay? How many miles per day is enough? What special preperation does he do? Deena Mastracci joins the conversation as a relatively new rider. She won an award in 2016 for the highest mileage acheived by a new rider in their first year! Deena is a nutricianalist and shares special insight about what she eats and drinks during a long day in the saddle. She also tells us what her gear choices are for extreme hot weather touring. There is much to learn from this conversation. Norm Nelson has ridden from the Southeast to Alaska twice on a 1958 Harley Sportster 25 years apart! He is the highest finisher in the Motorcycle Cannonball over the last three events. Riding a 1911 Reading Standard in 2016 he goes deep inside his planning and packing as well as the mental preperation side of touring. Norm has also ridden a 2009 Piaggio BV250 scooter over 80,000 miles and many of those miles are on the Interstate!

Talking Motorcycles with John Light/The changing demographics of motorcycling
In this episode of Talking Motorcycles we explore the changing demographics in America and how they influence motorcycle manufacturers. For decades the "Baby Boomers" were the generation who have influenced the sport of motorcycling the most. Now, there is a new generation moving forward who will be in control? What are their interests? How will they drive the motorcycle business? What are manufactures already doing to win their dollars? Is it working? John Light of Evans Cooling joins us with his thoughts and ideas for how to influence the next generation of riders. His fresh approach appears to have merit. "Don't bubble wrap your kids...MotoWrap them!" John's thought process is inspiring and we believe has merit.  Who or what inspired you to ride motorcycles? Was it your Father or Mother, Aunt or Uncle or a neighbor? We hear from many callers who inspired them! Shelly Rossmeyer of Rossmeyers Harley Davidson joins in on the discussion from a second generation motorcycle dealers perspective! We hope you enjoy this edition of Talking Motorcycles with Barry Boone. Special thanks to Clearwater Lights, Dunlop Motorcycle Tires, Bell Powersports, Sweet Marlays' Coffee and Bakery, TrueToyotaParts.com and Bruce Rossmeyers Harley Davidson in New Smyrna and Daytona Beach.

Talking Motorcycles with American Flat Track CEO Michael Lock/Shayna Texter
Michael Lock is the CEO of American Flat Track. 2017 is now at mid-season and we take time to get his thoughts on the first half of the year. Recent events have produced standing room only crowds. How many events would AFT Events like to produce in house? Will we see American Flat Track stars in Europe soon? What impact does he think the NBCSN TV package will have on the series? How does American Flat Track view other racing series such as Steve Nace Racing and the Steel Show Nationals? Lock joined us in studio at WNDB FM93.5 in Daytona Beach. Shayna Texter calls in from the X-Games with her thoughts on her winning season thus far. Her convincing win at New York on the Half Mile has everyones attention. Perhaps it is a turning point as most think of her as a Mile flat track specialist but that may be changing.  Talking Motorcycles airs LIVE every Wednesday night at 7pm Eastern and you can listen from anywhere in the world at www.newsdaytonabeach.com or on the WNDB app on your smart device! Danny Walker has had but one goal as a team owner/manager in MotoAmerica. That goal is to see his contracted riders advance to the world stage in World Superbike and MotoGP.
