The Forest City Serial Killer with Vanessa Brown Part 2
In the 1960s and 70s, London Ontario, often referred to as the forest city, was the serial killer capital. Even just between the years of 1968-1970, there were 11 brutal murders in the London area - the majority of which are still unsolved.
After discussing some of the cases in part 1, Vanessa helps me share more cases that she believes are connected, as well as who is responsible.

Vanessa Brown's book The Forest City Killer is available on Amazon!

Huge thank you to Vanessa Brown for chatting with me about these cases and for keeping the victim's stories alive.

TRIGGER WARNING: This episode contains discussions of child murder, sexual assault, and child molestation.

    The Doodler Killer
In the 1970s, there was a serial killer preying on San Francisco's gay community and almost 50 years later, he's never been caught. Because the victims were seen as minorities, the crimes didnt really make front page news. Police didnt really even seem to care.. Until they learned of a very weird pattern.
This killer apparently sketched his victims on napkins before taking them to their violent deaths… and thus, the media dubbed him, the Doodler Killer.

    Teresa De Simone
In December 1979, 22 year old Teresa De Simone was found strangled in the back seat of her car in Southampton, England.
At the same time as the Yorkshire Ripper, people in the South wondered if they had their own monster in their midst.
While police eventually got their guy, their actions would be subject to intense scrutiny while the world learned what was seemingly an open and shut case, was actually an almost unbelievable story.

    The Ratcliffe Highway Murders
On December 7th 1811, the Marr family was massacred inside their own home for what seemed like no reason. Terrified at the lack of an apparent motive, locals tried to convince themselves that a vicious foreigner had sailed into the London docks to kill the family and then fled. The Marrs must've had a target on their back and this was an isolated event.

Until two weeks later, when another innocent family met the same fate.
This is the story of the infamous Ratcliffe Highway Murders and who was responsible for horrifically taking 7 lives.

Trigger Warning: Suicide and violence against children

I recommend reading 'The Maul and the Pear Tree: The Ratcliffe Highway Murders', by T. A. Critchley and P. D. James
