Paul Collins, and Garrett Franklin are at their wits end. Having stumbled through the ancient caverns and tunnels beneath The Fort, they seem no closer to finding their way out, or their purpose for being there in the first place. Wood will rot or splinter, glass will shatter, metal will bend or break, and everything one day will return to the dust.

The world will one day return to dust, and the dead drying bones of a home, disconnected from the living dream of the world as they are, trimmed and snipped from the wilderness, sawed into lengths and shapes, hammered with iron fangs that bite until rust eventually comes to trim their length - WILL return much sooner.

Dr. Avery and Mother Cyprian prepare as Paul and Garrett wander about beneath the waking earth of The Fort hopelessly lost. Why has Mother Cyprian thrown them into those labyrinthian tunnels? The relationship between old friends can be contentious and that is no more true, than it was with Edith Blackleech and Adam. Adam seeks power in truth, by squeezing that interloping eye known as Edward August Hall for knowledge. There is a house on the hill, one which has been abandoned for years, but now peering up from where the regular townsfolk live, lights can be seen igniting the domain from the inside, and setting rumors ablaze.
