The fellas finally wrangled Charles Kelley! We kicked things off with his legendary brag sheet—apparently, they stopped counting at 80 bullet points! As one-third of Grammy-winning country trio Lady A, you definitely know "Need You Now" (and so does AC radio, judging by how often Charles hears it instead of his own new solo single).
But it's not all chart-toppers! We delve into Charles's unique vocal warm-ups (it basically involves singing that song's intro), his declaration that he's "accomplished everything" he needed to with drinking, and how a surprisingly romantic night led to a surprise baby number two (he hilariously takes the blame!). Plus, that "not a big deal" band name change? Turns out, it was quite the story.

The fellas are back from vacation and have lots to catch up on! Jon recently returned from Europe. He bravely transformed into "vacation Jon," embracing the holiday spirit by not stressing about money and being ready to spend "enchanted money," despite usually being more frugal. He even endured intense cycling in Mallorca and had a run-in (kinda) with Obi-Wan.
Meanwhile, Dave took his own family to Trail West, a Young Life camp in Buena Vista Colorado, describing it as a resort experience focused on family bonding, conveniently without televisions in the rooms. They also delved into their kids' music tastes. Dave, ever the music enthusiast, admitted to running a "regime" in his car, making his kids listen to '90s R&B and hip-hop. He uses these car rides as teaching moments for music history. They also dive deep on getting your teenager their first phone.

We always just assume that David and Sissy (pronounced SIS-E) just want to hang. Well, we finally get that chance today while they talk about the new line of Daystar Dogs books for kids. The new books feature characters like Lucy and Owen, which focuses on teaching courage and resilience. The duo discusses the importance of resilience, especially as kids take fewer risks, the challenges of parental "over-attending" versus the "under-attending" of previous generations, and the difficulty of letting kids "sit in the struggle."

This week, the legendary Dan Wilson joins Dadville from "the Minneapolis of California." You surely know Dan from the many, many, many hits he's written for The Chicks, Adele, Chris Stapleton, and dozens of others. Oh yeah, he's also behind one of the biggest hits of the '90s, "Closing Time." We unpack Dan's incredible career, from his time in Trip Shakespeare and Semisonic to his ridiculously long list of songwriting and production credits, and his new instrumental piano album, 'Goodnight, Los Angeles.'
Plus, discover what his 17-year-old jazz bass self would think of it all ("What happened to the bass?") and why parenthood is the ultimate "helpful constraint."

In this episode, Dave and Jon dive deep into the hilarious (and sometimes infuriating) world of dad pet peeves. From Dave's intense dislike for sidewalk chalk on his property–a hill he declares he'll die on–to the endless battle against tiny wrappers on the floor and wet towels left anywhere but the rack, they air their most relatable frustrations. Jon shares his number one peeve, and they both lament the cans that don't quite make it into the trash. Amidst the abundance of humor, they grapple with the tension between wanting a tidy house and the perspective that "you won't care when they're 80."

In this episode, we’re tackling the boss-level challenge of parenting teens headed for college with Dave Kozak of Elite College Planning. The fellas get real about the stress of saving for college (spoiler: most families feel behind), the ever-growing cost of tuition, and whether the whole college experience is actually worth the hype—or just a very expensive four-year experiment.
Enter Dave Kozak, our financial Yoda for the episode. He breaks down college savings like it’s Money 101 for Hogwarts parents—especially 529 plans, which are basically your magical vault at Gringotts. He also explains the difference between “green money” (the scholarships and grants—aka free money, the good stuff) and “red money” (loans, aka the dark side). Plus, he’s all about helping parents level up their strategy when it comes to understanding financial aid, college pricing games, and how to help your kid channel their inner Elle Woods and advocate for themselves.
So if college planning feels like trying to solve a Rubik’s Cube blindfolded, this episode’s here to help you figure it out—and have a little fun along the way.
