In 1996, Josefina Sonya Hernandez sat in a courtroom, during a murder trial, and testified. The victim, Peggy Tucker, was a sex worker who was found dead behind Josefina’s home, and Keith Zon Doolin had been arrested and charged with her murder, another murder and multiple attempted murders. She told the court everything she saw and heard the night of September 18th, 1995. She told the court that she watched TV, she went to bed around 11:30, and she struggled to sleep in the humid, Central California heat. She told the court that, just before midnight, she heard dogs barking and then, a few minutes later, a gun shot followed by a woman's scream. She didn’t think much of the event and didn’t call the police. She never dreamed that, a year later, she would wind up in court as a key witness in a serial killers murder trial. She also never dreamed that, five years later, she would be back in a courtroom testifying at another murder trial. But, this time, she was testifying in her own defence as she stood trial for the murder of Margarita Flores.
