    Australian Open R2 - Medvedev's 3AM Loss, Draper Escapes, Swiatek-Raducanu is ON!

TENNIS WEEKLY CROWDFUND: https://www.gofundme.com/f/tennis-weekly Tennis Weekly 2025 Crowdfund is now open! Your support keeps us going no matter how large or small is hugely appreciated, from listening to donating we couldn’t be more thankful to our audience!

The top seeds are in trouble at the AO 2025 as Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic lose sets on their way to round 3. One player who won’t be joining them is Daniil Medvedev. Last years finalist went out in a 5th set tiebreak to ATP Next Gen newcomer, Learner Tien in an epic ending after 2am Melbourne time.

As the men’s seeds struggle Carlos Alcaraz and Sascha Zverev keep getting better and Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka continue to make smooth progress.

Elsewhere the Brits are still on a charge, led by the heroic efforts of Jack Draper and former US Open Champion Emma Raducanu. Raducanu beat friend Amanda Anisimova in a tight contest earlier in the day whilst Jack Draper came back from the brink to win in 5 sets against Thanasi Kokkinakis.

Danielle Collins caused a stir when she invited the crowd to ‘kiss her a**’ after downing local favourite Destanee Aiava in three sets to progress to the third round. Lifting Aussie spirits, Alex de Minaur ‘the demon’ was sharp and quick to seal another trip towards a deep run at the Happy Slam!

Australian Open R1 - Raducanu leads British bonanza, KO for Kyrgios, Medvedev net RAGE

Round 1 Recap! The Australian Open has begun and boy has it been a dramatic star down under! Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev scrape past Wild Cards to make the second round. This marks the first win for Novak Djokovic with new coach Sir Andy Murray in his box. The team got the win but it was't pretty or easy for the GOAT of tennis and his former nemesis.

Elsewhere there was an EMPHATIC win for teenage sensation and ATP Next Gen Finals winner, 18 year old Joao Fonseca as he ousted Andrey Rublev in straight sets. Will he be the next Gustavo Kuerten? Joining Rublev crashing out of the AO2025 were Stefanos Tsitsipas, Grigor Dimitrov.

It wasn't just the young guns that had success Gael Monfils and Kei Nishikori rolled back the years to win in 5 sets and both are in the mid to late 30s, proving there is life in the old dogs yet!

On the women's side the top seeds were serene in their progress. Two time defending champion Aryna Sabalenka cruised past grand slam champion Sloane Stephens and Coco Gauff matched her effort in downing former champ Sofia Kenin in R1.

Other notable wins came from Jannik Sinner and Iga Swiatek who won in straight sets to move through to round 2.

Australian Open Preview - Djokovic lands Alcaraz quarter, Gauff in Sabalenka's half

The Australian Open is just around the corner and the singles draws have broken overnight. Join Joel, Kim and Chris as they interrogate them quarter by quarter, making some predictions and champion selections along the way.

On the ATP side, Jannik Sinner (finally) is in a different half to a draw to Carlos Alcaraz who has landed a potential Novak Djokovic R4 showdown with Andy Murray in tow. There's debate on just how far Nick Kyrgios can go, can Alex De Minaur handle a new level of expectation and will Zverev finally end Slam heartbreak?

For the women, it's all eyes on Aryna Sabalenka - can she cap a historic hat-trick of AO titles in Melbourne? Elsewhere, is Coco Gauff ready to add another Grand Slam to her trophy cabinet? Or can Iga Swiatek rediscover her form that took her to World No. 1.

The trio also unveil their Collect a Set player picks so make sure to play along and let us know your predictions before the first ball is struck on Sunday!

Tennis! Gauff downs Swiatek (again), Djokovic served out, Kyrgios returns + 2025 predictions

The 2025 tennis is upon us and already there is a lot to cover! Novak Djokovic suffered his worst defeat in over 20 years to comeback king Reilly Opelka and Nick Kyrgios's comeback had a knock back as he went out in the first round of Brisbane. Elsewhere Coco Gauff secured her second consecutive straight sets win over Iga Swiatek as USA claimed another United Cup victory with the help of US Open finalist Taylor Fritz.

There were lighter moments as Andy Murray missed the first week of the season and his coaching duties of Novak Djokovic because he was skiing and Katie Boulter and Alex de Minaur got engaged. They also make some grand slam predictions (eek!) and preview this week's tournaments as Australian Open qualies get under way at Melbourne Park.

Tennis Book Club - 'Ace, Marvel, Spy: A Novel of Alice Marble' with author Jenni L. Walsh

It's another Tennis Book Club, and in this edition we are joined by USA Today Bestselling Author Jenni L. Walsh. Jenni has written over 12 books including the bestselling 'Unsinkable' and now the future smash hit 'Ace, Marvel, Spy: A Novel of Alice Marble'.

‘Ace, Marvel Spy’ is based on the life of a very real, very incredible Alice Marble. She was a Trailblazer, superstar, activist, and spy! On the tennis court, Alice was an American tennis player who won 18 Grand Slam championships between 1936 and 1940: five in singles (including Wimbledon), six in women's doubles, and seven in mixed doubles. She was ranked world No. 1 in 1939. Marble was the Associated Press Athlete of the Year in 1939 and 1940. In 1964, Marble was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame. She settled in Palm Desert, California, where she taught tennis until her death. One of her students was Billie Jean King. Billie called the book "A smashing success!” and Jenni joins the TW team to tell us about her process, her tennis memories and unpacks the incredible life of a tennis icon!

Jenni also gives us a preview of her next book and as always she can't escape telling Chris and Kim how she takes her tea. Make sure you purchase a copy of ‘Ace, Marvel Spy’ when it hits book stores and preorder your copy now.
