What’s Happening Around the Curling World?
The Canadian Mixed Doubles
Olympic Trials were completed in Liverpool, Nova
Scotia on January 4 th and we will review the final
results. There is an event coming up this
week in Lloydminster, Alberta, the Astec Safety
Challenge and it involves some of the best men’s
curling teams in the world and we will discuss who
is involved and what this event is all about….
Mailbag and What is Happening on Social Media
We have been reviewing social media
from the past three days and a few topics seem to
be getting the most attention. First, from the last
few days is probably the changes involving team
Einarson and Carey. From a few days before
that the suggestion of a game between Homan
and Mouat got an enormous response on FB
something like 70,000 hits, we will review both
of those situations and give you our thoughts
In The House
The Canadian Mixed Doubles Champions and
Canada’s potential representatives at the 2026
Olympics were crowned in Liverpool, Nova
Scotia, the winners were Brett Gallant and
Jocelyn Peterman, who are a married couple that
are going to join us.

Happy New Year and greetings
again everyone and welcome to this Special
Edition of Inside Curling.
Right now in Liverpool, Nova Scotia we
are getting close to the end of an event
that will determine Canada’s Mixed
Doubles representative at the 2025
World Mixed Doubles Championship in
Fredericton, NB This team will also
represent Canada at the Olympics in
2026 in Italy if Canada
qualifies and we will explain.
Yet, another curling team has made a
change and this time on the women’s
side of things as Team Chelsea Carey
announced a change in it’s lineup for the
balance of the year. This team was
already qualified for the
Scotties might that be impacted we
will explain. On our show we announced a few weeks
ago that the brushing wars were coming
into the forefront again when one
manufacturer announced they were
coming out with a new broom using a
foam that had previously been
determined to be not acceptable. Last
week, our sponsor Goldline announced it
is now producing a new broom that will
be known as the Pursuer with a similar
type of foam being used and apparently
Hard Line, the third big player in the
game is in the process of doing the same
thing what is happening here do
we have the start of another
Broomgate?

us as our special guest and we are going to review some
comments from Face Book, look at a couple of interesting
emails and review the past season and look at what could be
happening for the balance of the year. So, before we get into it there is something else we
need to address.
This morning it was officially announced
that our Kevin Martin has been inducted into the Order of
Canada. Wow. Much deserved. We are lucky and proud to know you and get to work with you, Kevin.

Mixed Doubles was held in Banff, AB where one
more team of the 16 that will be playing in the Trials was
determined. A person that has probably been a volunteer
for more curling events than any other person in history
in Saskatchewan has been named the Lieutenant
Governor of the province….we will tell you who that
person is
Hot Rock Topics - Looking over
comments on social media about the athletes language
