Six years ago we left corporate life and sailed away into the sunset (literally). It was singularly the best and scariest thing we ever did. So many of you aspire to do the same but worry about different aspects of such a change. We hope to change all that for you and get you out on the water sooner rather than later!
Fitting out a boat, whether it is a catamaran or monohull, new or used involves a lot of decisions.
One set of decisions we all need to make relates to those items that cost a fair amount of money that we hope we never use.
In this episode we discuss those "hidden items", the thought processes behind them and what we eventually decided on to keep us as safe as possible, both at sea and while docked.
So many of you boat nerds like me are asking questions about the Ruby Rose 2 build. As the answers are a little dry for some people, we thought we would record a series of podcasts detailing the deep dives into our choices.
In this episode we discuss our anchor and chain ground tackle choices, how we made them and why we made them.
Enjoy, and if you have any other nerd questions, just ask.
In the third part of our series, we talk again to Antoine Richer, the Naval Architect at Seawind about how bow shape, hull volume and freeboard affect the performance, stability and even safety of your catamaran.
For anyone thinking of buying a catamaran, either new or used, this resource may just save you from buying a lemon.

Hey there! We're Nick and Terysa and we’ve become completely obsessed with the idea of sailing around the world and sharing our experiences and information through our sailing lifestyle videos with others.
We met travelling around India, and quickly agreed that rather than “settling down” and doing what most normal people do, we wanted to travel and adventure instead and started our sailing lifestyle adventure stories, since then, we’ve been working hard towards achieving our dreams, and now we’re finally living them as sailing cruising lifestyle!

Have you ever wondered the processes that go into designing and building a Catamaran? Maybe. Maybe not.
However for those of you who are contemplating buying a new or used catamaran to sail the world, you possibly want to know how it's made, how safe is it going to be, what its made of and are you getting the best the market has to offer.
In the first of this series on Catamaran design and build, we talk to a top naval architect to find out how what is behind the designs on the drawing board and how this actually translates into a comfortable, safe and seaworthy vessel.

Life on a boat during a pandemic...
Billy & Sierra (and Jetty the dog!) are fellow liveaboard cruisers, living on their catamaran and sailing around the Caribbean. When the pandemic broke out, they were anchored off an island in the Caribbean- now, as the hurricane season looms but the borders are closed, they are running out of options.
Find out more about their story, why they decided to move onto a boat and how they manage their cute dog onboard and at sea!

Behan and Jamie Gifford have been living on their 47 foot sailing yacht for over a decade with their 3 children. Over those years they have become one of the best resources on the internet for cruising with children- indeed, Behan literally wrote the book on this very subject. Having completed their circumnavigation only a couple of years ago, they are now in Mexico planning a return to the South Pacific- until, that is, the Covid-19 pandemic caused them to change their plans.

While we have reviewed 19 catamarans over the past year, we have never specifically discussed the features that are most important to us in a catamaran- our 'wish list' if you will. While we've made reference to the features that we'd like to see in our new catamaran, this is the first time we've actually sat down and listed them with an in depth discussion.
We follow the same categories as our reviews: Safety, Build Quality, Liveability, Performance and Price.
We hope you enjoy this podcast!
Cheers,
Nick & Terysa

For 3 years worth of monohull sailing videos on our beautiful 38 foot monohull click here.
Welcome to one of the most hotly debated topics in the sailing world: monohull or catamaran?
We're going to discuss four general categories during the podcast and compare monohulls and catamarans within each category: cost; safety; liveability; performance.
Hope you enjoy this one!
Cheers,
Nick & Terysa
