In this thought-provoking episode, Caggie is joined by Paul Scanlon, a renowned public speaker, author, and personal development coach, known for his transformative leadership, communication, and self-awareness work. Paul shares his journey of awakening and explains how it has shaped his mission to help others reconnect with their authentic selves.
Paul, who spent over 30 years as the senior pastor of Life Church in Bradford, has shifted his focus to helping people "wake up" to their potential. Drawing from his life experiences, he discusses the importance of creating safe spaces for people to embrace their true selves and challenge societal norms. From navigating the education system to breaking free from the "rat race," Paul shares powerful insights on leadership, personal transformation, and being true to yourself.
Key Highlights:
Waking Up to Authenticity: Paul explains the concept of 'waking up' and how childhood experiences often stifle authenticity. He emphasises the importance of feeling seen and safe to help individuals consciously awaken to their true selves.
Embracing Your Weirdness: Paul talks about how our uniqueness, or “weirdness,” is a superpower that the ego often suppresses in favour of societal expectations.
Breaking Free from Social Norms: Paul offers practical advice for those who felt out of place in their youth but didn’t understand why. He discusses how small steps can lead to breaking free from societal moulds and reconnecting with authenticity.
The Tyranny of the Education System: Paul critiques the one-size-fits-all model of Western education, highlighting teacher burnout and the system’s archaic structure. He believes bold, new ideas are needed to educate and inspire future generations.
Listening to Your Intuition: Paul shares how we can start paying attention to our intuition or “niggles” and why journaling is a powerful tool to capture these insights, helping us recognize patterns in our thoughts and feelings.
Leadership and Influence: In Paul’s view, leadership is about influence, not authority. He challenges the traditional command-and-obey structure and encourages everyone to see themselves as potential leaders, shaping the world through influence rather than hierarchy.

In this episode of The Courage to Create, Caggie reflects on the unexpected twists and turns that shaped her creative journey, reminding us that it's never too late to pursue our passions, no matter where life takes us.
Caggie shares her time in LA, where she spent two years immersed in the music industry before the idea for Saturn Returns was even born. She opens up about the challenges she faced in discovering her voice as an artist and how the destabilizing years between 27 and 30 ultimately led her down a different path. This unanchored period became the foundation for Saturn Returns, inspiring her to explore deeper themes of spirituality, identity, and transformation.
As she approached 30, Caggie experienced a personal crisis, feeling the pressure of time running out to “make it.” A failed relationship and the close of her Saturn Return prompted deeper introspection, leading her to a healer who shifted her perspective. This liberation sparked a new wave of creativity, allowing her to launch Saturn Returns and reignite her passion for music.
During the pandemic, Caggie collaborated with producer Luca, who helped push her creative boundaries and refine her songwriting. Their time together in Mexico rekindled her connection to music and storytelling, setting her back on the path of releasing her own work.
Join Caggie as she delves into the courage it takes to embrace your artistry, overcome self-doubt, and find your unique path—no matter how many detours life throws at you. This episode is an inspiring reminder for anyone who feels it's too late to put their work into the world or is scared to take that leap.

In this episode, Caggie opens up about her deep and complex relationship with music, tracing it back to her early years and sharing the emotional journey she's experienced along the way.
Key Themes:
Caggie's Relationship with Music from a Young Age: From her earliest memories, music has played a pivotal role in Caggie’s life. However, as she grew older, her connection to music became both a source of joy and vulnerability.
Vulnerability in Sharing Music: Caggie discusses how sharing her music has always made her feel exposed, as it’s a form of self-expression that brings up intense vulnerability.
Fears Around Singing: Despite her love for music, Caggie reflects on the fears she’s carried around singing, particularly in front of others. These fears have often held her back from fully stepping into her creative potential.
Love-Hate Relationship with Music: While music has been a lifelong passion, Caggie dives into the complexities of her love-hate relationship with it. There have been moments where the pressure to perform and succeed overshadowed her natural love for the art.
Pressure, Fears, and Failures: The pressures that come with creativity often bring fears of failure. Caggie shares how these feelings have surfaced throughout her career, particularly during her time on Made in Chelsea (MIC).
Creativity – Why All or Nothing? Caggie explores the idea of why creativity sometimes feels like an all-or-nothing pursuit. She questions when creativity shifted from being a joyful expression to something to be criticised or scrutinised.
Creative Blockers: A significant part of Caggie’s journey has been dealing with creative blockers. She reflects on the fear of how her music will be received and the external judgment that has haunted her, especially the notion that she’ll never be taken seriously because of her background in reality TV.
Where Does the Fear Come From? Caggie contemplates the root of her fear. Is it simply fear of the unknown? Is it tied to ego and self-belief? These are the big questions she grapples with as an artist.
Ego and Self-Belief: How does ego get in the way of true creativity? Caggie shares her thoughts on how ego can sometimes overshadow creative expression and how developing a strong sense of self-belief is key to overcoming this.
Creativity as an Offering: A powerful idea Caggie shares is that creativity is not something we control, but rather an offering. It chooses the artist to come through, and it’s up to us to honour that process.
Discovering Herself in Her 20s: Throughout her 20s, Caggie navigated the journey of discovering who she is, both as a person and an artist. This period of her life was marked by experimentation with different styles of music and self-expression.
