Ep 462: Behind The Scenes Of A $250k Launch (best of the podcast)

In this episode I’m sharing a detailed behind the scenes look over a $250k launch, because this is such a great example of the advanced work that you can do on releasing your perfectionism handbrake. This will help normalise the ups and downs of launching (regardless of what kind of business you have) and demonstrate the next-level mindset work perfectionists need to do once you’re showing up and putting yourself out there.

Tune in to listen to ‘real-time’ updates that I recorded as we prepared for this launch and through the launch period. I talk through the launch plan and strategy, advanced Power Planning, advanced troubleshooting and more!

What you will hear in this episode is an example of what we’re going to be doing in the PGSD Advanced Coaching Group. In PGSD Advanced, you're going to be working closely with me and a group of other like-minded perfectionist entrepreneurs to get out of your own way in a whole new way. I'm so excited because I haven't actually taught what I do behind the scenes for my mindset work before. I've been demonstrating it through podcast episodes like this launch debrief episode that so many people love, but I haven't actually had a way for you to do that work with me.

We have already done early enrollment for the PGSD Advanced Coaching Group and spots have started filling, but we will announce the official enrollment dates soon. If you are ready for the advanced work, then stay tuned to the podcast. You’ll get all the details so you can decide whether or not it’s for you.

Ep 460: Using Power Planning To Get Into Creative Flow with Rachel Brown (best of the podcast)

In this episode I’m talking to one of our PGSDers, Rachel, all about using Power Planning to get into creative flow.

Rachel is an artist that enjoys capturing people and characters in her illustrations and loves to share her creative journey with others. She joined PGSD because she had spent years dreaming of pursuing art full time but was too afraid to put her work in front of potential customers and start selling.

With the help of PGSD and Power Planning, Rachel finally opened her online art store and made her first sales – all while working fewer hours than she had before. I’m excited for you to hear how Rachel used Power Planning to grow her business and become the artist she wanted to be (without feeling stressed).

Find the full episode transcript and show notes at samlaurabrown.com/episode460.

    In This Episode You’ll Learn:
    • How to never feel pressured or stressed when Power Planning

    • Rachel’s honest experience when she first started Power Planning

    • The practical things that Rachel does with her Power Planning to keep it flexible

    • What Rachel does when she feels inspired to create during her clean rest

    • How to stop resenting the time your full-time job is taking from your business

    • How to accurately estimate how long a creative task will take you

Ep 459: Creating The Emotional Capacity To Get Shit Done

Two of my clients inside my program Perfectionists Getting Shit Done (aka PGSD) have given me permission to share this coaching call excerpt with you. In this call we are talking about emotional capacity and how to expand your emotional capacity so that you can do the things you need to do to build your business. If you resist and avoid doing things that are uncomfortable, this is for you.

When it comes to taking action we perfectionists get really frustrated when we have all of the knowledge but we aren’t able to do the things we need to do. Why aren’t we able to follow through? Because there is a difference between your knowledge and what you’re physically capable of doing (e.g. typing words on a computer) and your ability to experience the uncomfortable emotions that are required to get shit done.

Inside PGSD we support you fully with getting out of your own way and this call is a great example of some of the mindset and emotional work required to become someone who is taking consistent action towards their business goals without burning out.

If you find this episode helpful I want to invite you inside my program Perfectionists Getting Shit Done. We have just opened enrollment at the time of this episode being released and I will be teaching a live bonus workshop to those inside PGSD called Your First Power Hour to help you start Power Planning. Ep 458: How I Transitioned From Full-Time Work To Full-Time Entrepreneurship (best of the podcast)

This episode was a long-time in the making. In 2019 I released an episode just after I’d officially gone full-time in my business sharing all of the nitty gritty details - the ups and downs, courage and self-sabotage, successes and setbacks. I’m sharing it again on the podcast, 5 years after it was initially released, in case you’re in the thick of this journey and you’re looking for something inspiring (and practical) to help you keep going.

When my goal was going full-time in my business, I was constantly searching for resources and advice to help me figure out how to transition from full-time work to full-time entrepreneurship. I didn’t have the confidence to take a blind leap of faith so I scoured the internet for wisdom on how to navigate it all. And to be honest, what I found was a little lacking! So I hope that by sharing the details of my experience I’m able to help you figure out when to take your own leap and how to do it.

Ep 455: How To Create Safe Visibility In 3 Simple Steps

You have probably heard business advice around just doing the things you know you need to do, including putting yourself out there and telling people about your business (e.g. social media, another visible channel). And if you’re a perfectionist, it’s likely that you haven’t been able to do it.

This is something I’ve helped perfectionist entrepreneurs with, and I’ve also had to work on it a lot for myself when starting my business. In fact, I was so scared of putting myself out there that it took three years for me to make my first dollar in my business and six years to get to six figures!

If this struggle is something you can relate to, this episode is going to be a relief. Because I want you to know that there isn’t anything wrong with you - it’s just one of the ways perfectionism can stop your business from growing.

I share more about why that is + the three practical steps that you can follow to create safe visibility for yourself in your business. You can use those steps today to be able to show up and start putting yourself out there without freaking your brain out, or burning yourself out either.

Ep 454: Releasing The Pressure To Do Power Planning Perfectly

Coaching is so valuable for perfectionists because we often don’t see the perfectionist thinking that makes us give up right when we’re about to see results. When we think we’re not doing good enough or we’re tempted to quit, coaching helps you identify what’s going on so you can get out of your own way.

To see how powerful coaching can be for perfectionists, I’m sharing a snippet of a PGSD coaching call where I coached PGSDer Arielle on how to use Power Planning as a tool to support yourself to get things done (regardless of what comes up during the week).

I wanted to share this with you, because it might be the case that you hear about Power Planning and feel pressure to do it perfectly. You might be thinking ”I want to try Power Planning, but I don’t know if I’m going to be able to do it right.” And that leads to feeling like Power Planning will be hard to do and using it against yourself.

That struggle is exactly what I coach Arielle on. On this call, coaching helps her drop the mental drama and exhaustion around planning perfectly and use Power Planning to intentionally plan in a way that works best for her.

Every week inside Perfectionists Getting Shit Done there is a group coaching call where you can watch other PGSDers get in-depth coaching on the same planning, productivity and persistence problems that have been making you get in your own way in your business. And you’ll have the opportunity to get coached too!

The weekly group coaching calls give you the opportunity to get the support you need to get out of your own way so you don’t stay stuck or fall off the wagon.

Thank you Arielle for giving me permission to share this call on the podcast.

Ep 453: Creating Work-Life Balance While Making More Money With Olivia Fox

In this episode, I’m interviewing PGSDer Olivia Fox. Olivia walks us through the practical ways that she’s used the tools inside PGSD to help her increase her business revenue while having a better work-life balance at the same time.

Olivia experienced an impressive 181% increase in revenue from the previous year, all while enjoying a better work-life balance and a healthier relationship with herself.

This episode gives you an idea of what’s possible when you stop using advice that doesn't work for your perfectionist brain. You may not realise it, but traditional productivity methods like to-do lists and time blocking make you procrastinate, overthink, hold yourself back, and make it harder to move past the fear of judgment.

There are so many subtle ways we can procrastinate. Olivia shares what she does in her power planning each day to stop procrastinating, complete the courageous tasks and finish work at the time she said she would.

If you have courageous tasks you know you need to do right now and you're just not doing them, then this episode is for you. Olivia and I talk about how she gets herself to do those courageous tasks. We discuss how you actually go from being someone who intellectually understands what is required to build a business, to being that person who feels safe enough emotionally to build your business the way you want to.

I'm so passionate about giving perfectionist entrepreneurs the tools that help them create a healthy work-life balance, feel safe to show up, be seen and trust themselves throughout their journey, even when things don’t go perfectly.

Ep 452: PGSD Misconceptions + Frequently Asked Questions

In this episode I’m answering your questions and discussing misconceptions about my group program Perfectionists Getting Shit Done. Since the doors to PGSD are closing at 11:59pm New York time on 21 March 2024, I want to make sure you have everything you need to decide whether PGSD is a good fit for you.

PGSD is my group coaching program for perfectionists who are building businesses. It will have you planning properly and getting out of your own way. If you’re someone who has been doing a lot of procrasti-learning and you know a lot about what you need to do to build your business but you’re just not able to get yourself to do it - that is where PGSD comes in.

Tune in to learn more about PGSD, how it will help you get out of your own way and whether it’s a good fit for you.

The doors to PGSD close soon. You can sign up at samlaurabrown.com/pgsd.

    Questions Answered:

I’m not sure if I’m a perfectionist but I can relate to what you talk about on the podcast.

Does PGSD help me get clear about exactly what I want to do? I’m unsure about the direction I want to take and how to make it come together.

Is PGSD a good fit for me if I’m not sure about my niche yet?

Is PGSD just for coaches/other kinds of entrepreneurs or do you have members who are creatives/artists making money from their art?

Is PGSD a good fit for me if the tasks that trip me up in my business are different from the examples you share on the podcast?

How do I know PGSD won’t just be more procrasti-learning?

I have ideas to start a business, but haven’t started yet. Will PGSD be a good fit for me?

Can I pay for PGSD in another currency?

How much time would you recommend dedicating to PGSD per week, if I was going to join this program?

Does PGSD help you stay accountable?

When teaching Power Planning, do you go over a framework that can be followed? Do you provide ones for us to ‘try on’ until we find what works best for us?

What platform is the course hosted on?

Do we have time to get to know you directly and/or others on the programme or is it mostly self study?

Is this a program to help someone who is already a coach stop procrastinating or is this for someone who isn’t a coach learn how to be a coach as well? Is this the right program to take if I want to be a coach?

I am interested in PGSD and power planning, but I don’t run my own business or plan to work on starting one. What would you recommend?

Do you have a short version or intensive version of PGSD? I’m not sure lifetime access is the right fit for me.

I’m specifically interested in learning more about power planning and getting assistance/ more insight into it from a shorter course.

Can you please share more information about the coaching process/experience? And the sorts of things people get coached on - is it specific to their business or moreso to their behaviors and habits?

What does lifetime access actually mean?

Do we have access to one on one Q&A for help if needed beyond the group?

I’m in another program - should I wait until it’s over before I join PGSD?
