We believe that George R. R. Martin has put a lot of effort and thought into creating a deeper dimension of archetype and symbol in his writing. He’s created connections between past and future, between sky and ground. He’s built on classic figures from world mythology and twisted them around in new and incredible ways to fashion his own archetypal characters whose divine roles are played out by the characters in the story. He’s done all of this not only to be artistic and clever, but because he’s actually participating in a grand tradition of esoteric, symbolic art. Keeping this tradition alive is of critical importance and tremendous value to society, and that is why I believe this facet of A Song of Ice and Fire is so worthy of study. This podcast is intended to be our vehicle to explore these inner workings, and it is fueled by enthusiasm, yours and mine.
What was "King Egg" (a.k.a. Aegon V) trying to do at Summerhall, and why did it go so horribly wrong? Those are the questions I'll answer, covering both the well-established Summerhall theories as well as some new ideas I am bringing to the table. Explosive dragon's eggs, visions of the Prince That Was Promised, kingsblood, wildfire, and potential maester conspiracy, plus a new find for the "Dunk held the sand-door at Summerhall" theory, it's all here.
Finally, a satisfying theory (with heavy foreshadowing) for what George Martin is going with Rickon's story! Since Rickon is a child, George has based parts of Rickon's plot on children's stories - Where the Wild Things are and Three Billygoats Gruff - and these stories also foreshadow this endgame! Walder Frey is a bridge troll, Skagos is an island of monsters who ride goats.. come inside and @GreyWasteTim and I will explain!
Aemon loves his brother Egg, and his brothers of the Night's Watch. He was once a Targaryen prince, and was once offered the crown... and he's been waiting for the Prince That Was Promised for a very, very long time, discussing the prophecies and portents with everyone from Egg to Bloodraven to Rhaegar to Jon and Sam. I'll also give my explanation for "kill the boy, and let the man be born."
Nagga's Bones, thought to be the fossilized ribcage of an ancient sea dragon, are in actuality the petrified weirwood ribbing of the Grey King's ship, which he flipped over and made into a magical longhall. In theory anyway - this is Grey King weirwood ark greenseer theory, at long last.
This theory was just too tasty to leave as a livestream, so we've edited it down and packed it with art! One of my very best theories, I'm quite proud of it, and it explains how the Deep Ones have been steering Ironborn culture since the very beginning!
My ultimate explanation of who the Others are & why and how they were created, as well as who the green men are, what their relationship is to the weirwoods, and how we can know the they became the Others.
The first Hightowers, the black stone fortress on Battle Isle, the origins of the citadel & the first people to learn skinchanging, the Great Empire of the Dawn and the Church of Starry Wisdom - and most of all, THE MEN WHO CAME BEFORE THE FIRST MEN. And maybe a few squishers. It's all here!
I have combined the Stark Iceberg 1 & 2 streams (8 hours +) into one mega-Starkberg, and of course there's a ton of new art. A little winter-themed entertainment for your winter holidays!
Why does the Cannibal eat other dragons? Was the Cannibal really on Dragonstone before the Targaryens? Why did he fly by the funeral of Corlys Velaryon? And is there a theory / series of theories to connect all these ideas? Well of course there is! And the answer may reveal more about the mystery of the dragonbond and dragon lineages...
Is it Jon Snow, or Daenerys Targaryen, who is Azor Ahai Reborn and the Prince That Was Promised? Or is it both? Here is the definitive case that there will be more than one, and that one of them will be Jon.

The Ice and Fire calendar came out last year and showed Rhaegar and Lyanna visiting the home of the green men - who are real, apparently! Was there a weirwood wedding? Was Lyanna's magic awakened on the Isle? What was Howland Reed's role? The Ghost of High Heart? Find out inside!
