Cartoon Network airs the episode “Witches of the Mist” from Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Secrets Revealed Season Three. Written by Katie Lucas. 

FORTUNE COOKIE: “The path to evil may bring great power, but not loyalty.”

In this episode, Ventress and Savage Opress attack Dooku but he gets away. Opress returns to Mother Talzin who tells him to find his long-lost and exiled brother who will teach him how to become a powerful warrior. With his mission set, Opress leaves. Talzin then turns to her crystal orb where a fractured image of Maul materializes. 

This was part of the arc that was shown at the touring Clone Wars screenings in 2011. This arc kicked off screening Star Wars television episodes at fan events.

We break down issue 51: Resurrection of Evil from June 1981! There is a new super weapon being constructed called the Tarkin. Our heroes are sent to bring down this technological terror, and at the same time there is a plot within the Empire to kill Darth Vader!

 

In the past, Marvel has tied-in Kenner action figures and playsets. Is that what they are doing here with the Scout Walker vehicle? Or was it because they wanted to feature the cool 2-legged walker seen in The Empire Strikes Back for 2 seconds.

Disney+ streams the episode, “Chapter 3: The Streets of Mos Espa” from The Book of Boba Fett which Guest stars Danny Trejo as the Rancor Keeper. (Does Danny Trejo make an appearance in this episode’s Marvel comic?)

 

In “The Streets of Mos Espa” the Hutt Twins come to Boba Fett’s palace and offer their apologies for sending Black Krrsantan to kill him.

 

This Book of Boba Fett  episode also features the BEST Behind the scenes Easter Egg ever! During the speeder chase where the mods were pursuing the Mayor’s majordomo, one of the mods crashes through a Ralph McQuarrie painting of Jabba’s court from Return of the Jedi.

General Rieekan receives word from Rebel spies that the Galactic Empire is constructing a new superweapon known as the Tarkin. Realizing the danger the new weapon poses, Rieekan sends for Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, Chewbacca, Lando C and the droids. The Rebel heroes are sent to infiltrate the Tarkin, however Darth Vader observes as they arrive and sets events in motion to capture his long sought after adversary, Luke Skywalker. But little does the Dark Lord know that some of his own men are secretly plotting against him due to his vicious punishments imposed against their fellow Imperial officers.

Actor Marti Matulis is Vane in The Mandalorian & Skeleton Crew, he is in this year’s new Christmas movie Red One as the vulture-like Slap-Fight Judge, and he is in many Star Trek films and TV series. We discuss the artistry of creature makeup, how he emotes under the mask, and acting in general. Matulis is a 20+ year veteran in the business and we loved picking his brain. With all the talk about Crimson Jack in Skeleton Crew we felt this was a perfect time to share another Classic Marvel Star Wars Comics episode! Issue #108 “Forever Crimson!” (2019), is a special continuation of Issue #50 “The Crimson Forever” (1981). This was part of Marvel’s 80th Anniversary celebration in 2019 where they added this issue 33 years after the classic Star Wars series ended in 1986. 

 

Richard and Sarah break down “Forever Crimson!” - it’s story, artwork, and the HUGE amount of Star Wars EU Easter eggs! Jaxxon and Amaiza are back! Valance the Hunter and Domina Tagge make an appearance. This comic even references vornskr and the witches of Dathomir. Craig Miller is back to help us break down the ultimate Star Wars book, The Art of Star Wars from 1979. Craig was the Director of Fan relations for Lucasfilm from 1977-1980 and had a hand in putting this book together. If you’ve never read The Art of Star Wars, pause the show now and go and get it! It has the Episode IV script, storyboards, international movie posters and it was the first time we ever saw the subtitle, “Episode IV: A New Hope.” And all that is just the tip of the iceberg.
