Most of us could never imagine killing another human being, but life is really about motivation and perspective. If you are a true crime fan, a student of history, or read the news, people die every day from a myriad of ways, be it a criminal act or old age. It might be impossible to imagine killing another person, but clearly there are plenty of people willing to do it. Depending on the situation human beings are capable of fantastic and amazing acts, both good and bad. People are complex, unpredictable beings, and even the most compassionate non-violent person could become extremely violent given the right amount of motivation. For most people, the use of violent action with the possibility of ending in the death of another person would be unthinkable, but for some people among us, the need to kill depends on a much different set of circumstances. Sometimes people kill for no known or understandable reason, and the acts in these cases take on an aire of senseless for those of us on the outside looking in. Other people in our world kill in order to fulfill a personal need or compulsion that is often times as abhorrent as the murder itself. So that is what we are going to look at in this episode of Criminality. The various types of killers, their motivations, their desires, and the reasons they take lives.
