There is nothing better than having good friends, who all share the same passion for the outdoors! McCade and Ian created SAHN as a vehicle to help them share these passions with others. Zach was an obvious addition to the group, due to is aligning character and values. Being raised around the mountains of Utah, these three outdoorsmen have a deep-rooted love for the mountains, and the creatures that roam them. Each of them has a different background, personality, and group of skill sets, that when combined, create an unparalleled fun and adventure-filled experience! Through podcasting, SAHN aims to broaden their audience as they introduce several of their friends, ideas, and experiences.
On this episode, McCade, Zach, and Ian, recap their experiences shooting rifles out to 1,000 yards, with Mark and Scott Thompson. They had a blast learning from both Mark and Scott, as they spent half of a day at the Thompson Long Range Shooting School. We couldn't believe that we would actually be able to hit a 1,000 yard target so quickly, and consistently! Mark and Scott really know what they are doing! We highly recommend you take their course!

Scott Thompson was born and raised in Logan, UT. He’s a Mule Deer fanatic, and has been very successful at hunting them over the years. He’s also a part of the family business, Thompson Long Range.
Scott’s father Mark, started Thompson Long Range in the early 90’s. He’s always been looking for ways to stretch his rifles, and shoot longer distances.
Thompson Long Range holds a shooting course, from April to August each year, and teach people how to put a rifle together, mount a scope, learn ballistics, and load development. Then they head out to the range, and help each of their students learn the fundamentals of shooting their rifles out to 1,000 yards.
On this episode, Scott breaks down some of the basics of getting started in long range shooting. He say’s that even though you don’t necessarily want to be shooting animals at 1,000+ yards, it’s more effective as a hunter, to be practiced and comfortable at longer ranges. That will in turn, make you more accurate at closer ranges. He touches on several more tips throughout the conversation, so don’t miss a second!
If you’ve ever been even the slightest bit interested in learning to shoot long range, listen to this episode, and check out more information below.
We’re heading up to take a course ourselves, in just a few weeks, on June 8th. Call Scott today, and get yourself signed up for a course!

Austin Legg - Backcountry Hunter, World Traveler, Husband/Dad, Marketing Guru at Eberlestock, Bigfoot Believer, and Guinness World Record Holder (check out the video, linked below).
*As taken from @austin.legg on Instagram
Austin is from Boise, Idaho. After earning his Masters of Business, Austin was hired at Eberlestock, to be the Sales Director. That was pretty short lived, and he changed positions to his current role, as Marketing Director.
Glen Eberlestock, the founder of the Eberlestock Brand, was an Olympian that competed in the biathlon. He recognized a need for a lighter-weight rifle stock, that was still durable. He started making rifle stocks, and drastically changed the times that the Americans competing in the Biathlon events.
Later in life, after a career in the military, Glen recognized a need for a better way to carry a rifle, attached to a backpack, while hunting. He also felt a need to develop some tactical packs for the military, after September 11, 2001.
Currently, Eberlestock’s business is roughly 50% hunting packs and 50% tactical packs.
Eberlestock makes “The Legos of Backpacks,” as Ian calls them. You may be familiar with some of their older packs, such as the the Dragonfly and Blue Widow packs. They were built bombproof, but as with such durable materials, they came with some of the additional weight.
Eberlestock has since brainstormed, engineered, tested, and repeated the whole process countless times since. Today, they have created some incredible, lightweight packs, that are super customizable and durable!
We (The guys at SAHN OUTDOORS) have been running Eberlestock pack systems now for a couple of years. We have successfully packed out numerous animals, our hunting camps miles into and out of the backcountry, and countless other items on our outdoor outings.
For more information on any of the Eberlestock packs, apparel, or their other products, feel free to reach out to Austin directly. He’s happy to answer any questions that you may have.

Jace “The Machine” Guymon is one-of-a-kind! He eats, sleeps, breathes all things hunting!
McCade had the opportunity to meet Jace the fall of 2016, when he had an archery elk tag in Utah. Jace had never met McCade before, but invited him to tag along while he checked some trail cameras. He told McCade to bring his bow. The next day, Jace helped McCade bone-out and pack-out the 6x6 bull he was able to harvest. Jace showed his true colors, and was all smiles the entire day!
Follow Jace’s instagram account, and you’ll see that he’s no stranger to finding big bucks and bulls. Not only can he find animals, but he puts hunters on them and talks the hunter through the process of successfully harvesting these critters! He also has a healthy shed pile, and has the worn out boots to prove it!

We (the Sahn Crew) met Jules McQueen, in 2018, at the Total Archery Challenge, held at Big Sky, Montana. Their meeting stemmed from a social media joke, regarding an errant arrow, in which McCade tagged Jules in. Thankfully, Jules laughed it off, and ended up shooting with McCade and his buddy Jeff, the following day. They had a great time and were finally able to catch back up at the Hunt Expo, in Salt Lake City, in February of 2019.
In this podcast we talk about her recent promotion to the President of Carbon TV, the "Sports Center for the Hunting and Outdoor Industry."
We talk about who Jules is and how she got started in the Hunting Industry, her writing contributions to several different hunting publications, and works with various conservation groups, and getting new females into the hunting and outdoor industries. Jules is a fantastic role model for all sportswomen and men!
We also touch on turkey hunting, which is a major passion for Jules! McCade is hoping to use some of the tactics he learned from her, on his Spring hunt in Utah.
We hope you enjoy this podcast as much as we did recording it with Jules! Please leave us a review and 5-star rating! Also, be sure to subscribe to the Sahn Outdoors Podcast.

The SAHN Crew had the opportunity of a lifetime, when they sat down and picked the brains of Garrett Carr and Micah Fey, of Hidden Instinct. Micah and Garrett are coyote killing machines. To say that they are passionate about coyote hunting, would be a major understatement! They’ve been friends for years, and a few years ago, decided to start sharing their passions for hunting coyotes… Thus Hidden Instinct was born.
With over 180 videos on YouTube, and nearly 29K subscribers, they are CRUSHING the world of filmed coyote hunts. Garrett and Micah recently wrapped up a Coyote Tour, where they set the goal to kill 100 coyotes in a mere 30 days!! If you’ve ever hunted coyotes, you understand how challenging that goal can really be. We won’t ruin it for you, so you’ll have to subscribe to their YouTube Channel and see for yourself, if they met their goal or not!
You’ll be sure to earn a little bit about coyote hunting, and have some of your basic questions are answered in this podcast. We cannot thank Garrett and Micah enough, for their willingness to share some tips and tactics, and for sharing their way-of-life with us! We’re fired up after this podcast, and hope that you’re just as ready as we are, to get out and dump some coyotes!!

In Episode 28, of the SAHN OUTDOORS PODCAST, Zach and McCade recap some of their fitness goals that they each set at the beginning of the year, in an earlier episode. As 2018 winds down, and 2019 is knocking on the door, surely you've been thinking about next years hunts, and your personal goals.
Zach discusses his personal weight-loss goal, and how he was easily able to obtain it, through a strict and consistent regiment of exercise and healthy eating habits. He shares some stories from his hunts, and how his training affected him on the mountain.
McCade also briefly touches on being fairly prepared on each of his hunts, but talks about one aspect that he struggled with on his solo hunts.
Both Zach and McCade discuss the areas they'd like to improve upon, individually, for the 2019 hunting season. Both plan to get to work immediately on setting and achieving their goals, to help them be the best hunters possible.
