402: Up the Fun, Up the Bitachon & Lower the Stress with Dovid Schatzkamer (“Schatzy”)

    B”H

Have you ever been stuck unemployed, or desperate for a career change, and not known who to call? Ghostbusters? Call Schatzy instead. He’s my guest today and he’s one of my favorite people on Linkedin. If you’re there, chances are you know him and love him too: Dovid Schatzkamer, or better known as Schatzy. Reserved and humble by nature, Schatzy is the founder of Parnassa Anchor, a not-for-profit organization providing free recruiting services that connect professionals with positions aligned to their strengths and goals, generating an impressive $3M in salaries annually. How did he come to create this?

Schatzy is also a serial entrepreneur. He’s a business coach, a unique one. His special touch? Infusing the entrepreneurial journey with excitement and joy. His playful approach is evident in all aspects of his life, including the high-stakes world of business.

In his spare time, Schatzy runs a play therapy practice, serves as Director of Business Development for a Special Education company, helps parents build strong and loving relationships with their children, and somehow still finds time to play the piano and violin, as well as indulge his passion as a gourmet chef.

Schatzy’s WhatsApp status updates reach a thousand contacts daily, providing a mix of educational, chessed-oriented, and entertaining content. He is also on his 43rd cycle of study of the Gate of Trust – Shaar HaBitachon and has generously shipped out hundreds of copies at no charge.

His mission is summed up in six simple words he often says: “How can I help? Call me.” And for those seeking his wisdom, Schatzy is just a call away at 1-888-Schatzy.

    401: Ask Yael

    B”H

On this episode of Jewish Money Matters, Yael Trusch answers a listener who’s concerned about married adult children’s expectations to receive financial support from their parents. How to manage those expectations? Also, a listener is very concerned for her friend who might be missing out on compounded growth by not knowing what the money in her retirement account is invested in – is it invested at all? – in addition to having her five figures cash savings sitting in a plain savings account instead of a higher paying high yield savings account.

400: What does a Trump presidency mean for your finances? With Yair Klyman

    B”H

Post Presidential elections in the U.S., I’m in conversation with Yair Klyman, Founder of Klyman Financial. Yair is a Behavioral Financial Advisor and Financial Strategist, who also served in the IDF. How did he get from the IDF to building a business in financial services. A journey with many surprising twists and business lessons – I want you to take notes. An advocate for the Jewish people, Yair is also a huge financial literacy advocate and has made this one of the pillars of his thriving business.

What is a values analysis and why is it so important that you do one? What was his upbringing like with money and what lessons did he learn – parents, you’ll want to take notes! Where does his passion for charity work and philanthropy come from? Again, you’ll be surprised. And if you’re wondering what a Trump presidency means for your finances, well Yair has the scoop for us and some practical take-aways.

Yair is also the host of the popular podcast Resilient Riches. Check out my appearance there in Episode 44.

399: A confession and lesson: What I finally learned this Tishrei

    B”H

Here’s the powerful lesson I learned from intentionally going about this past Tishrei in a completely different way than before. I wish it hadn’t taken me so long to learn it, so this is why I’m sharing it with you. This and a call to action because if you’re anything like me, as a Jew, you’re sick already about the state of affairs in the world (and no, I do not mean because of the elections).

398: On Ambition and Values with Branding Expert, Avital Eusgeld – Copy

    B”H

This interview highlights so many of the themes and values of this show and my work: family, faith, giving, meaningful work, and making money without sacrificing your values.

My guest, Avital Eusgeld, is a mother and the founder of HiPitched, a boutique branding agency which focuses on strategic thinking and design, creating brands that ensure you are ‘a voice above the noise.’

With firm guardrails around her time (and energy), she’s managing to be present both for her children and her clients. What changed between her Bat Mitzvah – when she declared in front of family and friends that she’d be a stay-at-home-mom, and today? How is she doing it? What lessons did she learn from her industrious and philanthropic parents? Daughter of one of the first female stockbrokers in the London Stock Exchange, how did Avital adapt what was modeled for her, with her increased Jewish observance, in a way that works for her and her family?

Starting from her early career in politics and venture capital, she transitioned into branding with a fearless, can-do attitude that landed her a $100,000 client as her very first project, at the young age of 24! You know I want to know more about that!

A proudly observant Jewish woman, Avital’s story is filled with gems of wisdom about career growth, confidence, and maintaining a strong sense of self in every area of life. So, whether you’re an aspiring entrepreneur, navigating the world of branding, or balancing personal and professional ambitions, this conversation is for you. Here’s Avital Eusgeld.

In this episode of Jewish Money Matters, Yael addresses an issue about people’s disappointment with G-d because they pledged money last Rosh Hashana and didn’t see 10x materialize in income throughout the year. What is wrong with this approach and how do we correct it? Listeners also ask about tithing or taking maaser on a tax refund, finding a Rav to ask maaser questions, and more.

394: Demystifying Real Estate Investing with Atara Twersky (Encore)

    B”H

This episode first aired on Jewish Money Matters on December 12, 2022

Real estate, as my guest today suggests, is still some sort of boys’ club. Fortunately, we have women like Atara Twersky helping change that. Atara is on a mission to help professional women understand Real Estate as an asset class, and helping them invest, so that they can spend time doing the things they love with those who they love.

Atara, is the founder and principal owner of Ascendo Capital, LLC where she specializes in finding off market properties in thriving areas around the Country. Atara is also a securities litigation attorney advising public and private institutions throughout the world concerning shareholder rights as they relate to class action and individual direct action claims arising under U.S. federal and state laws. Wife, mother of three, proud Jewish woman who paved her own path in real estate, Atara is here to teach us about its great potential and how to tap into it.

Some of the questions Atara, and I discussed to help you understand a little bit better the opportunity to be had in real estate: What is a limited partnership and what is the role of the Sponsor or General Partner? How did Atara get started in Real Estate and why? Why would you want to become a Limited Partner? And tons more in this conversation that will definitely help demystify Real Estate investing for you.
