We are checking out the documentary Sliders of Ghost Town: Origin (2016), a behind-the-scenes look at the world of scare acting and one of the most iconic techniques in haunt culture… sliding.
The film explores the performers who bring haunted attractions to life, revealing the physical demands, creativity, and passion behind the screams. From character creation and improvisational scares to the psychology of fear in theme park environments, we explore the art of live horror performance and why haunt culture continues to thrive.

14 August 2026, 1:53 am - 2 hours 11 minutesThe 42cast Episode 294: Getting to the Endgame
In the second part of our discussion of Star Trek: Voyager we complete our discussion of the main characters. We also delve into many of the recurring supporting characters and why they stick with us. We also talk about our favorite episodes and storylines within the series. We wrap things out by looking at the series’ conclusion and getting into what worked and what didn’t. Along the way we look at a proposed alternate ending, Kes’ fate, and whether there is one love story that isn’t better than Twilight.
Since this is the second part of a two-part episodes there is no five-minute controversy this week.
In this episode Stephanie is cohost and Eric and Miranda join the cast.

We’re watching Star Trek: Enterprise Season 3, Episode 7 “The Shipment,” but only Maria has actually watched the episode. Tipped off by last week’s Beast-incel, the Enterprise heads to a planet where they believe the Xindi are manufacturing parts of their superweapon only to find a weirdly chill Bigfoot Xindi planet where nobody is aware there’s a war on. Also, Trip and Phlox mess with a Xindi weapon to see how it works and it goes exactly as poorly you’d expect. Guest Raychelle Burkes joins us to marvel at the weird science the many safety and security protocols that everyone ignores in this episode.

11 August 2026, 2:31 pm - 26 minutesYard Sales, Spider-Man, Old Friends & A Bee Hive Mystery
It’s another jam-packed episode of Have Coffee Will Travel, and this time we’ve got a little bit of everything!
We start with yard sales, including one we hosted ourselves a few weeks ago. It was definitely not the typical hot summer yard sale day. Instead, it was cold, nasty and miserable. But that didn’t stop the die-hard yard sale hunters from coming out looking for bargains. In fact, we recognized quite a few familiar faces from our own adventures hunting for yard sales around town.
Then it’s time for a little home improvement. Last week, we ripped out the 40-year-old carpet in our basement, painted the walls and installed vinyl click flooring. It was a big job, but it was definitely a team effort!
Shawn also went to see Spider-Man: Brand New Day all by himself. And not just on a Friday night. He went to a noon showing on a Tuesday! Was going to the movies alone weird? Not at all. And the movie? Fantastic!
Leah has some news of her own. She’s added a new part-time job to her existing foot care business, working three days a week as a foot care nurse at the Group Health Centre. She’s only been there about a week, but so far she’s really enjoying it.
We also talk about a very special visit. Shawn’s longtime friends Rene and Jen came to Sault Ste. Marie for the weekend. Shawn has known Rene for nearly 30 years, but they hadn’t seen each other in three years. It didn’t take long to pick up right where they left off. We had a great visit, lots of catching up, and it felt like no time had passed at all. Shawn even made a YouTube video about their visit.
Speaking of YouTube, Shawn has been making a LOT of Shorts for The Long Way Around, including the ongoing “Pop Culture Quote of the Day” series.
And then there’s the bees.
We have a BIG update on Leah’s hives. After splitting the original hive a few weeks ago, we’re now dealing with wasps everywhere that need to be trapped. The bigger question is whether the second hive has a successful queen. We’re not completely sure yet, so there’s more investigating to do!
Finally, we wrap things up with an update on our Etsy shops. We talk about how many sales we’ve had over the past month, some of the things that sold, and what we’ve been up to with Rusted Robot Toys and Collect and Cast On.
As always, grab your coffee and come hang out with us!

Flopcast episode 744! Back in the day, when your favorite goofy TV show was cancelled, it was not necessarily the end. Years (or even decades) later, it just might be resurrected in the odd format of the made-for-TV reunion movie. Thus we returned to Mayberry to catch up with Andy and Opie, we reconnected with Gomez and Morticia in the disco era, we attended the double wedding of Jan and Marcia… and we even learned the final fate of ALF. And because this is such a rich complex subject, we have a special guest to help sort it all out: Dragon Con American Sci-Fi Classics Track co-director Joe Crowe! And we’re just getting started! Part 2 is next week. But join us this week, as we also try to answer the eternal question of which one was Cagney and which one was Lacey. #bradybunch #addamsfamily #beverlyhillbillies #andygriffith #alf #cagneyandlacey #esonetwork #eso #geektalk #geekpodcast #geek #nerdtalk #nerd #nerdpodcast #podcast #flopcast
