Interviews with key members of the IndyCar community, and plenty of chances of listener questions and feedback.

    Curt and Kevin recap Practice and Qualifying for the Sonsio Grand Prix!

    Tonight, on Trackside with Kevin Lee and Curt Cavin, Curt starts us off as Kevin finishes his play-by-play work on Peacock for the Indy NXT race, by recapping today’s qualifying for the Sonsio Grand Prix. Alex Palou earns pole as Christian Lundgaard completes the front row. Colton Herta and Lundgaard were fastest in their respective practice sessions. Curt even dives into some play-by-play action of his own as Jacob Abel goes back-to-back and wins the Indy NXT race at the Indianapolis road course! Curt talks about the misfortunes of some drivers for today such as Graham Rahal and Colton Herta.  

    Later in the show, Kevin and Curt, Kevin joins us as he gets done with his call on the Indy NXT race. They recap the race with Jacob Abel’s second consecutive win and Jamie Chadwick earning her first podium in the series! They both talk about the driver's different tire strategy for qualifying and for tomorrow's race and who could be the biggest mover of the race, and if anyone could catch up to Alex Palou and Will Power.  

    Then to wrap up another addition of the show, Curt and Kevin make their race predictions for tomorrow’s Sonsio Grand Prix.

    Kevin and Curt talk about Theo Pourchaire Going to McLaren Full Time, Red Flag Rules, and More!

    Tonight, Kevin and Curt talk about the announcement of Théo Pourchaire replacing David Malukas full-time at Arrow McLaren. They talk about Pourchaire’s racing history, how he really didn’t have anything lined up this year until McLaren called, and the races he will compete in this year. They talk about how they think Pourchaire feels about his new position in IndyCar. Kevin talks about some new liveries on cars for the month of May, and some new sponsors. They also bring up the importance of long-term liveries. 

    Later in the the show, Kevin and Curt talk about attendance expectations for the 500. They also talk about Marcus Ericsson on red flag policy during the 500. They also talk about the likelihood of the ban on the dragon movement being enforced. Kevin ends the segment answering listener questions. 

    Kevin and Curt round out the show answering a few more twitter questions, including eliminating back markers, and the success of Indy NXT Champions and their success in going to IndyCar, and more talk on the mannequin falling from the bridge, including Georgina’s previous position on the bridge.

    Tonight, Kevin and Curt kick off the show answering listener questions. They answer questions about how long the discussion about cheating will go, Penske’s Mercedes Motor approaching it’s 50th anniversary, Kevin and Curt hear some fans about the sponsorship problems with Juncos-Hollinger, and talk about how strong the teams are right now. 

    Later in the the show, Kevin talks to Jacob Abel. Abel and Kevin talk about his racing career, what he plans to do this season, future sponsor deals, and more. Abel talks about being looked at by IndyCar teams, and how he has grown with Abel Motorsports. He also talks about his position in the championship, and his competitors that are also in the running. 

    Kevin and Curt round out the show covering what they missed, and looking at some news about the pace car driver for the 500 this year, and other news.

    Later in the the show, Kevin talks about the viewership of the Miami Grand Prix. He discusses the Andretti F1 scenario, and the news that the government is getting involved in the controversy. Kevin provides more details about the Burger Bash

    Kevin and Curt Kick Off May, Talk About the Miami GP, and More!

    Tonight, Kevin and Curt talk about the upcoming schedule for the month of May has finally arrived! It’s race week for the Sonsio Grand Prix! They talk about yesterday's races with Lando Norris’s maiden win yesterday in the F1 Miami Grand Prix and Kyle Larson beating Chris Buescher in the NASCAR Cup race at Kansas by 0.001 in the closest finish in series history. They also talk about Theo Pourchaire recent oval testing at the World Wide Technology Raceway, and if he could potentially replace Kyle Larson if there are any conflicting issues with his NASCAR schedule. 

    Later in the the show, Kevin and Curt answer some listener questions, including about bets from the St. Pete Grand Prix, and what to do with car counts exceeding the track number. The two talk about Josef Newgarden getting hit by Colton Herta at Long Beach, and what lays ahead for the month of May. 

    Kevin and Curt rounded out the show reading a few more user tweets, including who will drive David Malukas’ car in the 500 this year.

    Tonight, Kevin and Curt recap the Children’s of Alabama Indy Grand Prix. They talk about the Month of May being upon Indianapolis, give a rundown of the schedule for May, and talk about the Sonsio Grand Prix in two weeks. The two talk about how physical the race was, and how many strategies there were during the race. They also highlight the performance of Linus Lundqvist. 

    Later in the first hour of the show, the two delve back into the details of Josef Newgarden’s cheating scandal and provide more information on what it means for the series, and if Penske telling on itself is a good or bad sign for the sport. 

    Kevin and Curt rounded out the first hour previewing the second hour and talking about May. 

    In the second hour of the show, Kevin and Curt give a more in-depth recap of the race at Barber. They talk about who performed well, who didn’t, and drama with Pato O’Ward and McLaren. They also talk about the incident involving Georgina the Mannequin. Kevin answers some listener questions about nicotine sponsorship, and the legality of it.  

    Later in the second hour, Kevin and Curt discuss David Malukas being let go from McLaren, and the legal issues that may have caused him to be let go. Kevin gives his opinion on who should take the seat at McLaren, and what team Malukas may race with later in the season.  

    Kevin ends the show paying homage to Wally Dallenbach who passed away Monday.

    Curt and Kevin talk about Josef Newgarden and Scott McLaughlin's disqualification, recap the Long Beach Grand Prix, and more!

    Tonight, Curt and Kevin talk about the situation with Team Penske’s two top drivers, Josef Newgarden and Scott McLaughlin, getting disqualified. Newgarden lost his win at St. Pete, and McLaughlin lost his 3rd place finish. The two talk about what the problem was with the cars that got them disqualified, and how the series will handle the controversy. 

    Later in the first hour of the show, Kevin and Curt go to twitter to answer some listener questions, including those about the cheating scandal, and the health of David Malukas

    Kevin and Curt round out the first hour previewing the second hour. 

    In the second hour of the show, Kevin talks to Conor Daly. Conor gives his thoughts on the DQ, and how this has never happened during his time in IndyCar. He states that he is not bothered by the fact that it took them this long to figure out. Conor gives some insight on using the push to pass button, and how drivers will not typically try to use it on a restart. The two talk about the poor viewership of the Long Beach Grand Prix. They also talk about the test at IMS, and Conor’s sponsor for the 500. 

    Later in the second hour, Kevin and Curt give a proper recap of the Long Beach GP, and talk about Scott Dixon approaching AJ Foyt’s record for most wins. They also answer some more listener questions, including about tire wear.  

    Kevin ends the show reading a statement that Scott McLaughlin put out regarding the push to pass issue.

    Kevin and Curt recap Indy 500 Open Test and preview Long Beach race weekend!

    Tonight, on Trackside with Kevin Lee and Curt Cavin, they talk about last week's rain-shortened Indy 500 Open Testing, that ended up having defending winner, Josef Newgarden back on top and rookie, Kyle Larson right behind. They also read some questions from X.  

    Later in the show, Kevin and Curt preview the second largest race weekend of the season, the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach. They continue to talk about which teams look good and teams that might need to see some improvement. With the month of May looming, so does 2025, and there are already looks for new faces in new places as Kevin and Curt discuss early silly season predictions. 

    Kevin ends the first hour of the show teasing the Indy 500 entry list and the newly joined team, Prema Racing. 

    In the second hour of Trackside, Kevin and Curt talk about previous Long Beach winners that became series champions and other successful Long Beach winners. They talk about the recent Dale Coyne Racing shakeup for Long Beach, with Jack Harvey returning to the #18, and rookie, Nolan Siegel, will drive the #51 and was originally scheduled to drive the #18. They also talk about the largely rumored F2 Champion, Theo Pourchaire, replacing injured David Malukas in the #6 for Arrow McLaren. Finally, they talk about the newly announced team for the 2025 season, Prema Racing and the potential charter system for next season. 

    Then, Kevin talks about the newly implemented and redone aeroscreen debuting this weekend for Long Beach and another newly redone first practice format session. 

    Then to wrap up another addition of the show, Kevin talks some more details about the upcoming Burger Bash on May 20!

    Curt and Kevin preview the IMS Open Test, the Eclipse, give details on the Burger Bash, and more!

    Tonight, Curt and Kevin talk about the Solar Eclipse and the viewing party IMS put on for it. Curt talks about how many people came to the Speedway that had never been there before. Kevin and Curt speculate on how fast Ed Carpenter was going when he made his laps around IMS before the eclipse. They talk about what would have happened if IndyCar decided to have their open test on the day of the eclipse, and Kevin gives a rundown of the open test schedule. 

    Later in the first hour of the show, Kevin and Curt go more in-depth into the open test, and who will have to do the rookie refresher. The two debate on if Conor Daly will have to do his refresher test or not. 

    Kevin and Curt round out the first hour clarifying on who will be competing in the open test. Kevin gives a review on the Vukovich: The Man Who Wouldn’t Lift that they talked about last week, and he talks about some interesting things he read in the book.  

    In the second hour of the show, they talk about Abel Motorsports and the likelihood of them racing in May, and the status of David Malukas. Kevin believes he will drive the car at Long Beach in a few weeks. Kevin points out the reason for putting Théo Pourchaire in the seat for the open test. They delve into free agency and what will happen if Malukas does not return to usual form quickly. They talk about how Rahal Letterman needs to get their team together during May. They also hit on the possibility of Josef Newgarden leaving Team Penske to go to Arrow-McLaren. 

    Later in the second hour, Kevin and Curt provide more information about the Burger Bash. They talk about their new location for the bash and provide a schedule for the events. They give some information on some items up for auction also. 

    Kevin ends the show answering some tweets.

    Curt and Kevin talk about Jerry Forsythe purchasing the Long Beach Grand Prix, talk to Mark Montieth on the new Bill Vukovich book, and more!

    Tonight, Curt and Kevin talk about testing at IMS coming up. They also talk about a new book that Mark Montieth uncovered written by Angelo Angelopoulos about Bill Vukovich’s racing career. They talk about the eclipse at IMS and how IndyCar’s show 100 Days to Indy will help the series gain popularity. Kevin and Curt give updates on the state of the Long Beach Grand Prix, and Jerry Forsythe buying up Kevin Kalkhovin’s stock in the race. 

    Later in the first hour of the show, Kevin and Curt discuss the Thermal Grand Prix. They talk about how the race filled a big gap in the schedule, and allowed for people to keep talking about IndyCar, as opposed to radio-silence for several weeks. Curt believes that they should eliminate cars at the end of each lap to ensure more battling for position. Curt makes the point that the race at Thermal could lead to more sponsorship deals being made at the race with wealthy businesspeople. 

    Kevin rounds out the first hour looking at some tweets, answering questions including if NASCAR buying the Long Beach GP was overhyped. They also talk about the amount of money going towards the IndyCar race at Texas. 

    In the second hour of the show, the two revisit the power of a show like 100 Days to Indy, and preview their segment with Mark Montieth. 

    Later in the second hour, former IndyStar writer Mark Montieth joins the show to talk about a new book that Angelo Angelopoulos wrote back in the 60s about Bill Vukovich that was never released. Montieth talks about how he uncovered the manuscript, and got the book published. Montieth talks about some of the things he had to change about the book, and how there was not a whole lot that needed to change. He also gives an overview of the book. 

    Kevin ends the show previewing next week.

    Curt and Kevin recap Thermal, what could change, Indy 500 driver predictions, and more!

    Tonight, Curt and Kevin recap IndyCar’s first non-championship race since 2008. They give a rundown of what went right and wrong at Thermal Club, what the experience was like, and the fan experience. Kevin and Curt talk about the popularity of amenities in the area, including the popularity of ice cream with the driver. Kevin gives some insight on the life of a crew member, and how tough the job is. Kevin discusses how this race will benefit the Thermal Club, and the crowd size. 

    Later in the first hour of the show, Kevin and Curt talk about the upcoming test at IMS and how it will be streamed on Peacock. They discuss IMSA’s schedule being released, and what can be gleaned from IndyCar’s future schedule from the IMSA schedule. They talk about things that could be improved for next year at Thermal, and Kevin gives some suggestions on when the race could be next year. 

    Kevin rounds out the first hour previewing the second hour of the show. 

    In the second hour of the show, Kevin and Curt talk about seeing John Elway at the race, and the celebrities who were at the event. They read some tweets, including some that were negative about the event. They address ways to fix the tire degradation problem that happened. Kevin answers questions about non-points concerns, and how the broadcast crew addressed the fact that it’s a non-championship race. They discuss the problem with Pietro Fittipaldi during the race. 

    Later in the second hour, the two give a rundown on who will compete in the 500 this year. Kevin talks about Katherine Legge’s possibility of competing, and Conor Daly. 

    Kevin ends the show going over things they missed earlier in the show.
