Happy People Fudge and Carrot Cake Coffee Cake are two Listener favorite recipes this week, and Andrea revels in the discovery of another new term: the simple and delicious counter cake.

This October, Stefin and Andrea are taking a walk down memory lane, revisiting their "Greatest Hits" in the lead up to their monumental 200th episode. Andrea's up first with what is perhaps the perfect autumnal pie (it won her Third Season Blue Ribbon, after all). Then listeners take a turn at the mic, with nominations for a live audio show recorded in Stefin's kitchen, as well as a giant donut made during April 2000's Sweet and Sour Month.

Up first: the James Beard Award announcement for the best books in the Baking & Desserts (and Health!) categories! Equally exciting discoveries of both extensive and whimsical measuring spoon sets are discussed before the hosts move on to this week's Recipe Review of Homemade English Muffins by Gemma Stafford. Is the extra work worth it? This week's bake along is the Healthiest Breakfast Cookies from Choosing Chia and you'll probably have most of the ingredients if you make your own granola at home. Finally, the Preheated Book Club convenes to discuss the absolutely delightful Home Cooking by Laurie Colwin.

The hosts start the show reminding Listeners to be careful when sampling raw dough or using raw dough or raw dough mixes in recipes. Stefin's kids' dentist gives her homemade ice cream a thumbs up. The 200th episode is rapidly approaching and the hosts are asking Listeners to share their favorite moment from the first 200 episodes. This week's recipe review is Betty Crocker’s Make Ahead Peach Breakfast Bake. Stefin made this recipe with modifications using Copycat Bisquick from Tonia at The Gunny Sack. Stefin and Andrea are singing the praises of two cookbooks, Jubilee by Toni Martin, and Regula Ysewijn’s Pride & Pudding — both full of food history, beautiful photographs, and intriguing recipes. Andrea and her family loved the Cheddar, Bacon, and Caramelized Onion Quiche from Good Things Baking Co., despite an unexpected pastry modification. This week, Stefin’s tackling Betty Crocker’s Make-Ahead Peach Breakfast Bake with a planned modification of her own -- homemade Bisquick. Finally, the duo have a whole batch of Pancake Possibilities to make you flip.

It's finally time for Andrea to make good on her #20for20 promise to make a dessert that tastes as good as the raw cake batter from Episode 122! First stop: the scientists, who say cake batter flavor is a combination of vanilla, nuts and butter. Andrea started trying Funfetti cake batter dips (thanks to listener Miranda!) but found them too 'cream-cheesy' and not fluffy enough. It wasn't until she was making Nigella's No Churn Coffee Ice Cream that she realized it had the texture she wanted. A quick search of the Internet turned up a No Churn Cake Birthday Cake Ice Cream from America's Test Kitchen, always a trusted source.
Did this ice cream fulfill Andrea's quest to safely indulge in raw cake batter? Listen to find out! You can read the full show notes here.
