    ReliaQuest Bowl preview: What Michigan needs to show against Alabama in season finale

    In this episode, Zach Shaw and Alejandro Zuniga break down the Michigan football team’s ReliaQuest Bowl matchup against No. 11 Alabama, and what the Wolverines can show both in the short-term and long-term in the game.

    They open with a look at the offense, and what Michigan’s replacement skill players must show. They discuss the opportunities that Jordan Marshall, Marlin Klein, Hogan Hansen, Benjamin Hall, Fredrick Moore and Channing Goodwin have, as well as the challenge of Michigan’s offensive line with new starters.

    In the second half of the episode, they discuss a Michigan defense that will be without five starters, including three up front. They look at the importance of the pass-rush, freshmen who could pop at all levels of the defense and other things Michigan must show to contain Alabama and its star-studded offense.

Jay'viar Suggs, David Gusta, and Jared Dawson are covered. Moving to quarterbacks, Dequan Finn, Brendon Lewis, and Mikey Keene are discussed. The conversation shifts to offensive linemen and the recent commitment Brady Norton.  Northwestern offensive line transfer Josh Thompson, a top portal priority for Michigan, is next. Then comes receiver targets and USC pass catchers Zachariah Branch and Duce Robinson. The visit at Max Klare, the no. 1 tight end in the portal is covered. Next Sam and Steve highlight Alabama running back Justice Haynes and his potential to compete for a starting role. They also discussed Emmanuel Karnley, a top-ranked cornerback from Arizona, who is visiting Michigan despite interest from Miami and Ole Miss.     On this week's edition of The Michigan Recruiting Insider Sam Webb, Steve Lorenz, and Brice Marich discussed the opening of the winter transfer portal window, highlighting several of the Wolverines’ hottest targets. The conversation begins with a focus on quarterback pursuits, and the surging momentum with Maryland transfer Billy Edwards, in contrast to that with USC quarterback Miller Moss. The discussion also covered the importance of adding proven production at the receiver position, with a focus on taller, stronger wideouts like Indiana transfer Donaven McCulley. Defensive line needs were addressed, with an emphasis on Kentucky transfer Keeshawn Silver. Offensive line reinforcements like Josh Thompson and Jordan White were also discussed, along with potential cornerback additions like Tacario Davis and Emmanuel Karnley.
