    442. Playful Kitty: a mindful story and meditation for kids

Wilma Willow treasures the moments of a beautiful autumn day.

Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new stories this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Playful Kitty,” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday!

    Narrator: Male

    Story Begins: 8:37

    Playful Kitty Excerpt:

Clouds covered the blue sky and the sun with a soft grey. The blanket of fluffy clouds quieted the world a little. Since everyone in the family was focused on their favorite hobbies Grubby, the little Siamese kitty, hopped onto the couch for a little nap. He circled and snuggled into his cozy quilt. The warm blanket gave Grubby a hug and he relaxed. A loud purr filled the room, as Grubby shared his happiness.

Then the little kitty heard something. Grubby stopped purring. His ears searched for the source of the sound. It was coming from the door! Grubby opened his eyes and sprang off the couch as the doorknob turned. The blue- eyed cat’s tail twitched with excitement. “Who was coming in?” Grubby wondered.

Today’s Meditation: Relax in the grass as you imagine sunlight warming you from head to toe.

    880. Dragon’s Delicious Dinner: a mindful children’s tale

Dragon tries some new foods with Callie and her father.

    Narrator: Female

    Story Begins: 3:15

    Dragon’s Delicious Dinner Excerpt:

In the late afternoon, as the sunlight dipped in the sky, Dragon strolled about the town, enjoying exploring all the interesting things to see. As Dragon walked down the main street, Dragon peeked into one of the shops. Inside were children seated at tables, drawing with colored pencils. Dragon looked up at the sign. “The Art Nook” it read. This must be an art studio, Dragon mused. What a wonderful place. Along one wall, Dragon could see storage shelves filled with paints and paintbrushes and containers of more colored pencils and crayons. The vibrant colors made The Art Nook look cheerful and inspiring.

Next door to The Art Nook, Dragon peered into another shop. This one was filled with potted plants of all kinds and all sorts of interesting pots. A man was standing in front of a display of plants labeled “Jade Plants.” Dragon observed as the man lifted one plant and examined it from a few angles and nodded. Then the man took the plant to the other side of the shop where there was a large display of pots.  The man selected a blue glazed pot that had sparkles in the paint. The pot looked like the night sky, twinkling with stars. Finally, the man took the plant and the pot to the counter, where the shopkeeper carefully put the jade plant into the sparkly blue pot. The shopkeeper then tied a sparkly silver ribbon around the pot.

Today’s Meditation: Love flows through you in this meditation as you imagine a baby fawn and mama deer.

    878. Robot Dance Party: a soothing bedtime story and relaxation

When Emily feels mad, Roly Robot helps her shake off that angry energy.

    Narrator: Female

    Story Begins: 3:36

    Robot Dance Party Excerpt:

Sunlight spilled into the cozy living room where Roly the robot rested on her charging pad. The little robot felt her energy restored, ready for a day of fun and learning. She hoped to play with Billy and Emily today.  Roly had been learning so much from them, and each day brought new adventures. But she knew the kids were busy with school lately, especially Billy, since he was older and had more work to do.

The living room was quiet, with only the distant sounds of birds chirping outside the window. Then suddenly, Roly heard a door slam, breaking the peace. Startled, the little robot watched as Emily stormed into the room, her footsteps heavy and her face scrunched up in a way that Roly hadn’t seen before.

    441. Off-Road Adventures: a meditation and calming story

Javier and Anora join Brian for a hike as he tries out Winfield’s off road wheels on different terrain.

Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new stories this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Off-Road Adventures,” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday!

    Narrator: Male

    Story Begins: 8:55

    Off-Road Adventures Excerpt:

Brian loved watching the sun come up in the morning. Especially when he felt there was a wonderful day ahead, and that was just about every day. Eager to greet the sun today, Brian and Winfield, his wheelchair, rolled over to the window. Then gently moving the delicate curtain aside, Brian peered out. Sunlight streamed through the window. Brian took a deep dragon breath, in and out, enjoying the warmth. What a beautiful day! Now it was time for breakfast! Brian and Winfield rolled over to the kitchen table to have some breakfast with his mom and dad.

As Brian ate, he gazed at the front door, waiting for a knock. He hoped Javier and Anora would arrive soon. Brian could hardly wait to try a hike in the woods. Now that Winfield had some off-road tires Brian wanted to explore everything he could. With a full belly, Brian rolled his dishes over to the sink to help his dad and mom clean up. As they washed, dried, and put them away, Brian imagined what it would be like to roll through the woods without a sidewalk anywhere in sight.

Today’s Meditation: Feel your body fill with warmth and love as you send your loving energy to the world.

    877. Big Decision: a soothing story and guided meditation

Ruby June wants to do both piano and gymnastics, but her mother will only let her do one activity. How will she choose?

    Narrator: Male

    Story Begins: 3:59

    Big Decision Excerpt:

It was a bright, crisp autumn morning. Ruby June peeked out of her bedroom window, noticing the leaves in her backyard had turned from bright green to shades of yellow and orange. She loved the way they crunched under her boots as she played outside.  Today, though, Ruby June wasn’t thinking about playing—she was thinking about something much bigger. She was thinking about a choice she had to make.

Last night, Ruby June had asked her mom if she could start taking gymnastics classes. On the bus home from school that day, Ruby June’s classmate, Alice, had told her all about the cool moves she was learning in her classes at the gym. Ruby June imagined herself tumbling and jumping just like Alice, and thought it would be a good idea to ask her mother about trying classes too.

    876. Sea Lion Swim: a relaxation and tale for kids

Salvador Sea Lion wants to lead his friend Serena to the big rocks! Will he remember the way?

    Narrator: Male

    Story Begins: 3:58

    Sea Lion Swim Excerpt:

On a bright, sunny morning on the Ahway Island beach, Salvador Sea Lion stretched lazily on the sand, letting out a soft yawn. Nearby, his friend Serena lay curled up, resting after their fun swim the day before. Salvador smiled as he thought about all the games they had played in the water, darting through the waves and chasing each other under the sun. But today, they had a new plan. Serena had asked Salvador to show her the way to the big rocks where the older sea lions liked to lounge and play. It was a warm, sunny spot by the shore where they could swim, nap, and enjoy the gentle sea breeze.

Salvador had been to the big rocks many times before with his older siblings. But he had never gone on his own. “Still, how hard could it be?” Salvador thought to himself. He had followed the path so many times. Salvador was sure he could get them there.

Today’s Meditation: Enjoy the feeling of your body relaxing into the warm sand on a sunny beach.

    875. Dragon’s Costume Parade: a story and relaxation for kids

Dragon comes across a costume parade at the park! Will Dragon join in?

    Narrator: Female

    Story Begins: 3:55

    Dragon’s Costume Parade Excerpt:

A cool wind danced through the trees in the forest. It circled and twirled the red, orange, and gold leaves as they floated to the ground. The soft breeze entered Dragon’s cave with a whoosh, and tickled Dragon’s nose. Dragon blinked once, twice, three times, smiling at the gentle wakening. It had been a wonderful nap. Dragon stretched and rolled off their mossy bed, feeling refreshed and ready for whatever the autumn afternoon had in store.

Dragon walked out of the cave. Sunshine hugged them, spilling through the falling leaves and bare branches of the trees. With eyes closed, Dragon smiled and took a deep Dragon Breath in and out. Feeling relaxed, Dragon began an afternoon walk through the forest. The crunch of fallen leaves beneath their feet accompanied the cheerful noises coming from the town nearby. It sounded like something interesting was happening at the park! Curious about the sounds, Dragon decided to head toward the edge of the forest to see what was happening.

    873. Pirate Plunder: a soothing relaxation and bedtime story

Chris and Jared are about to watch a fun pirate movie when the power suddenly goes out! What will they do to pass the time?

    Narrator: Male

    Story Begins: 4:03

    Pirate Plunder Excerpt:

It was a very bright, blustery evening on Ahway Island. Giant gusts of wind whipped through the neighborhood, causing the leaves in the trees to rustle loudly. Clouds drifted quickly across the sky, and birds stayed close to the ground.

Jared and his big brother Chris sat in their living room after dinner. They peeked out of their window blinds, watching the trees lean from side to side in the wind. Chris turned to Jared and said, “This is incredible. I don’t think I’ve ever seen wind like this before.”

Today’s Meditation: Relax as you imagine you are a baby penguin snuggled close to its papa.

Creating the original bedtime stories and art for Be Calm on Ahway Island takes a lot of time and care.
