From Star Wars to Saturday Night Fever, to The Godfather and Grease, Annie Hall and Alien, the 1970s was THE decade for great movies. Here at Easy Riders Raging Podcast we're looking back at all the classics of the decade, discussing the films of Scorsese, Friedkin, Coppola, Altman, De Palma and many many more. Aside from our discussions, each episode includes some of our trademark features such as Recastarama (where we recast the film using current actors) and Who Am I (where we work out who we would be in the film). Lots of fun to be had. [Our 1960s series is also available]
In this episode, recorded live and in-person on Boxing Day 2024 with my sister (Amanda) and my brother (Lee), we did a fantasy draft on our favourite TV theme tunes of all time, and had a great time doing so.
Since we're in the holiday season, and we're in the middle of our 1980s season, it seemed like the perfect time to re-release the SpielbergPod episode Becky and I recorded on Joe Dante's horror comedy classic, 'Gremlins'. And this episode was recorded all the way back in 2015 (it was the first podcast I recorded over the internet, since Becky lived in Canada at the time of record).
One thing I would note, having listened back to this yesterday, when it comes to the recast section it may sound like we're misgendering / deadnaming Suzy Izzard, but, again, that is down to this being recorded back in 2015, prior to us having knowledge of Izzard's gender identity.
Getting creepy at Christmas, this week Kieran, Paul and I discuss the episode 'And All Through the House' from horror anthology show, Tales From The Crypt. In case you're not familiar with this, it sees a woman murder her husband and then get attacked by a derranged killer Father Christmas, and it's directed by Robert Zemeckis. (This is well worth watching on YouTube if you've never seen it before, it's tonnes of fun).
In this festive episode, Kieran, Paul and I discuss the video for Wham!'s 'Last Christmas'. A conversation which sees us all fall for the charms of George Michael, we question what Andrew Ridgeley did in the band and I get lost trying to follow the narrative of the video.
In this episode me, Paul and- NEW GUEST KLAXON!!!- our good friend, Mark are talking James Bond, specifically Timothy Dalton’s James Bond and the film, ‘The Living Daylights’.
As ever we have much to discuss, from Mark’s James Bond fan club membership, my history as a cellist, the best Bond films, Jason Bourne’s keyring and the guy still being trapped in the sofa all these years later.
In this episode, recorded back in 2021 (during the height of the pandemic), Kieran and I work out our favourite films set in the 1950s (that weren't made in the 1950s).

In this episode Kieran and I return to the world of 80s music videos with a solid gold classic: yep, it's Queen's 'I Want To Break Free'. A video set half in a fantasy land, half in a house in Northern England, with the band appearing in drag. Unforgettable stuff!
Hello! In this One Perfect Scene episode, Paul and I tackle the scene in 'The Shining' where Wendy reads her husband's derranged writings (All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy) and builds to their conflict on the stairs. A masterful sequence from Stanely Kubrick that gives us much to chew on.
In this episode- recorded back in late 2022- Kieran and I return to the 1950s with a discussion on 'Ikiru' from director Akira Kurosawa. And if you've never seen this film, it's a masterpiece. A solid gold classic.

In this episode (recorded on Alien Day in 2023) Kieran, Paul and I return to the 1950s to discuss 'The Quatermass Xperiment', a cracking British sci-fi horror movie from director Val Guest. Along the way we find time to discuss Dame Thora Hird, how electricity works, the Species films, 'trains stuff' and the (then) upcoming royal coronation.

In this solo episode on the film 'Early Summer', I complete the ERRP coverage of Yasujirō Ozu's 'Noriko trilogy'. And there is much to talk about with this movie: how it compares/ differs from the director's earlier work 'Late Spring', visual metaphors the filmmaker uses and how I personally relate to this story.
