When I was 18, I saw a picture of a successful backcountry hunter packing a mule deer buck out of the high country on his back. Until then, I did not know that was possible. That was over 14 years ago. I have been searching for that experience ever since. I have been improving my woodsmanship and hunting skills. I have been learning any chance I get. In short, I have been on the journey of Finding Backcountry ever since. This podcast is my journey.
Spirits are high going into opening day of Wyoming archery deer season. I give some tips about handling pressure once a hunt starts and ready deer activity once a hunt begins. I give a breakdown of early season hunting gear. I also answer some Questions from Instagram. Enjoy!

This episode I chat with Scott Facer. We met years ago at Scheels when I helped him setup his first compound bow. Fast forward and he's out killing monster bucks with a bow. Scott and I chat about what it's like being a dad, how to motivate your kids and keeping them interested in hobbies. Scott tells the story of smashing a trophy buck on a limited entry draw tag this season. Enjoy!

This is a solo episode I ripped off on the way to my first scouting trip of the 2024 hunting season, specifically focusing on scouting season. Killing a big buck and killing a big buck on purpose are two different things, I'm finding. It's my main focus lately and one big accomplishment I haven't done many times. Good luck this summer!
